Teeth detail. The Medusa Rondanini displayed in the same room as the Drunken Satyr is the best surviving Roman marble copy of the Medusa intended for the center of the bronze shield of an 11-m tall Athena in the Parthenon on the Acropolis. It hangs at the same height that the original would have faced visitors.

Last year at this time the first butterflies of the season were flying, but this year March has teeth!

The Male White Lion named Fintan, bares his lower teeth from his rocky throne at the Toronto Zoo.

This one is from a few years back (2012), at the Medieval Fair of Castro Marim, Portugal.

For the Macro Mondays group. Topic: Teeth.

A ver si me pongo y la termino, que a este paso le harán falta brackets!

We took the boat out from Heliconia to the Yavari / Javary river in the morning to search for (pink) river dolphins. Our guide knew a couple of locations that were popular with the animals. In one we alternatiely let our boat drift silently, and then restarted it to change positions, among a small pod of dolphins each of which would emerge regularly for air. The dolphins (in at least one case a mother with baby) posed a challenge as they only emerged for short times - and often not where I expected them - as if they were deliberately zig-zagging under the water in some form of evasive action. Unlike the grey ocean dolphins of Ecuador the river dolphins never jumped fully out into the air.

While we were on the water we met a fisheman known to our guide and admired his catch. We stopped in Santa Rita (on the Peruvian side of the Yavari). The settlement's inhabitants were welcoming but we were disappointed to learn that the tiny store did not stock beer (we had wanted to buy some for dinner as the Heliconia also didn't have any). It would be another healthy day of fruit juice and coffee.

In 2022, I returned to Colombia. The main purpose of this trip was to explore the Amazonian rainforest areas near Leticia and then on the Rio Negro. In 2007 I was in the Leticia area on a volunteering project and the 2022 trip gave me the chance to see more of the area.

As these are border areas, with the rivers travelled actually being the borders, I also visited / transitted through Brazil, Peru and Venezuela. I will create one master set / album for the entire six week trip, plus separate country albums to help viewers who are interested only in a specific country.

I also spent time in Bogota and in the Boyaca region. Overall intinerary: London - Leticia - Bogota - Villavincenzio - Rio Negro - Puerto Inirida - Bogota (incl Nemocon) - Villa de Leyva - Tunja - Bogota - London.

Macro Monday's theme "Teeth"

HMM

They have long teeth, but one mostly only sees one part

Here's the baby beaver showing off his growing set of teeth. This young one wasn't at all shy and always seemed to be eating. There was another baby that was more elusive and usually stuck by its parents. Whenever they left him alone he would start to fuss and cry, a sound which is remarkably like a human baby's cry.

:) cavities, happy teeth, sweet tooth teeth, filling teeth... all the teeth you could dream up :) they've either had too many or not enough cupcakes!

for sale in my etsy shop soon :)

An old fence right on the shore of Hurworth Burn reservoir, kind of reminds me of rotting teeth! You cant normally get down here but the water level is pretty low so for now its accessible. Sun was setting on the right which turned the clouds red and cast a nice glow on the fence.

My daughter Patricia pointed out that there were marks on the skin of the Risso's dolphin that can be seen below in two other pictures. Indeed, small circles can be seen on the side of its head (please click twice on the picture to enlarge it).

They are sucker ring teeth (SRT), predatory teethed structures surrounding squid suction cups. These marks were made by squids trying to avoid being swallowed by the dolphin.
