Title: Grow Organic
Dream Theme: 100 Years of Agriculture
Teacher: Laura Fillmore
Materials and Techniques Used: Fabric, fabric paint, and oil pastels
2' square muslin, fabric, fabric markers, silk screened icons (screened in fabric paints) and fabric pastels. All items have been ironed for durability, wear, and waterproofing.
What is your artwork about? Growing organic
Students looked at the history of Victory Gardens and the tradition of posters and propaganda from that era--as well as the newer generation of re-purposed images--and, based on their knowledge of their own organic school-to-table lab garden, created works that express their relationship to a new history of Agriculture.
How can I make a difference? In 2008, a group of educators and artists formed the International Fiber Collaborative (IFC) a non-profit organization with a mission to create deeper learning experiences through art, collaboration, and cross-curricular programming for individuals and their communities.
IFC’s current initiative, The Dream Rocket Project, started in 2009 has exhibited submissions in over 105 venues; in 2014 submissions will be connected side by side to wrap a 363’ Saturn V Moon Rocket replica at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL (48’ taller than the Statue of Liberty).
With every artwork received a student has had to ask; what is my dream for my future, and the future of my community and our world? How can students across our nation with many skills collaborate to make a difference? How can creativity and other subjects such as space, technology, science, and leadership inspire innovation? How can I make a difference?

Honestly, I only vaguely remember doing this, and the only way I'm completely sure is because I have the layers file and I recognize a Photoshop brush technique of mine on the center of the flower. I do remember drawing the green bits in the center.
And why? I have no idea now. But it's really pretty. I'm totally keeping the layers on this one. I only wish I'd done it higher res.
My wife says it's a clever sales technique. You just want to get them away to a safe place.
With "kitten" as a tag I fully expect to get at least 10,000 views.
The angle is the same as the cheese slope, 30 degrees.
One benefit of this technique is that (if you build it right) you can just lift off the roof (or what you use it as) or just a section of it.
I’ve been working on a large MOC that requires modeling lots of brush. The goal is something relatively sturdy, natural looking, and dense, without being prohibitively parts heavy. Mostly this is just me figuring out ways to hold the 1 and 3 leaf pieces (2423 and 2417) at weird angles, ideally with a minimal support structure.

Technique info:
- Tried a different angle
- Used a large aperture to get a really nice bokeh.
- Destaturated and lowered clarity on the upper right corner (in lightroom), since it was too flamboyant.
- Used a really short shutter time (1/6400s) so no one had the chance to empty the bottles during the photoshoot

My friend Trevor pointed out this technique to me: Use the S95's HDR function which merges three exposure bracketed images function to create a supposedly HDR image. But rather than using a tripod to ensure you have exactly the same view for each of your three images you push the shutter release and wave the camera around - it takes the three images in close succession. I refined his technique a little by doing this shot on my push bike!
