thanks to AL, for giving me a few new techniques. had a quick effort with this shot, used 'black fill' (gully, foreground). gradient tool to darken sky. A GREAT EFFECT (..yee-haa, always wanted to know how to do this)overlay 80%opacity.

been using dodge & burn directly on to original file, but the non-destructive layer techniques are the way forward. Many thanks AL. ..i'm gonna have to review my entire photostream now ! : )

The term shibori refers to the mechanical resist dyeing techniques used to create patterns on a textile.

Those techniques can be found all around the world. Shibori is the term used in Japan, where they are the most developed (they are usually achieved with indigo dyes).

The process consist in realizing different actions with the textile (folding, sewing, etc.) before dyeing it. These actions allows the dyer to preserve certain parts of the fabric, this creating various patterns.

In celebration of Earth Day, New York City Audubon held a special TogetherGreen Volunteer Day event at Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn. Volunteers from Audubon and Toyota came out and worked hard to improve the park by repainting benches and walls, planting and mulching native plants, and building bird feeders! All in all, it was a fantastic day and a great effort by Audubon and Toyota alike.

Graffiti, deemed a Criminal activity is actually an extension of the Hip Hop Culture first born in NYC! Know Popular in NYC and L.A. Graffiti is a street style of an Artist painting. Like Art, you open your mind to the Universe, absorb the details, and finally convert it to art! "iNVision ART"

Capping is a technique that is widely used by Street Artist to show competition against other friendly Graffiti Krews by writing your street name or A.K.A. over the opponents Tag. These helped each krew to become creativily artistic.

Not being a fan of carrying a 25kg bike on my back, I went for the pushing technique. It's slower on terrain like this.

Please take a look at our website www.pikesonbikes.com for tales from our current trip in the Peruvian Andes.

I recently purchased four of the Echo Base kit at 40% off (minifigs, weapons, tauntauns, and a few other parts are in my Bricklink store - tell me I sent you and I'll give you 5% off). Once I started looking at the parts I'm keeping out of these, I realized I had a decent start for some mecha (even though I've never tried building in that genre before). Here are the resulting ideas. Most of these aren't great, but maybe some of the techniques are useful to someone else.

Also, more macro-mode photography practice. Just how many lights am I supposed to need to make these look good? These were taken with two focused lights overhead and another behind me.

This photo uses a technique that will be explained in the following photos, which is where the photographer angles the camera so that the face of the soldier closest to him is hidden. I believe this technique is used to hide the actual mortal damage the soldier suffered. If one could see the face of this soldier, one would probably be able to tell where he got shot, stabbed, etc. Therefore, the photographer is simply trying to show that these men are dead, not how they died. By using this method, the photographer is attempting to shift the viewers attention away from the individual soldiers who killed their loved ones, and instead to focus it upon the causes for which they died. This photo is of two union men, and then possibly a confederate soldier in the foreground, but it is still uncertain. The angle of this photo suggests that the two union soldiers died defending a line, while the confederate died attempting to storm it. I believe this photo was intended to focus viewer's attention upon questioning their causes, not the costs themselves.
