I wanted to play with the "fake lomo" technique from the Technique group. As written, it's a little extreme for my tastes, but dropping the strength of some of the effects made this pic look ... well, still altered, but not as overtly.

I recently purchased four of the Echo Base kit at 40% off (minifigs, weapons, tauntauns, and a few other parts are in my Bricklink store - tell me I sent you and I'll give you 5% off). Once I started looking at the parts I'm keeping out of these, I realized I had a decent start for some mecha (even though I've never tried building in that genre before). Here are the resulting ideas. Most of these aren't great, but maybe some of the techniques are useful to someone else.
Also, more macro-mode photography practice. Just how many lights am I supposed to need to make these look good? These were taken with two focused lights overhead and another behind me.

I used a 50mm f/1.8 lens this time, rather than 55mm f/2.8. This helped pull the background out of focus more than in the first try. The sky was cloudy and horrible to shoot, a nice deep blue would have been nice but alas, another time.
I tried a new technique (for me). I embossed the glittery red paper then I embossed a square piece of acetate the same. I used a little bit of glue to hold the two together. But I have seen this done with sewing. TFL
I tried the highlighting technique from a Jennifer McGuire video. Also used her tip to gold emboss the edge of the notecard to get a perfect match with my gold embossed sentiment.

If you want to be more efficient with your time when you study, then following a few simple steps will help you learn and remember a lot more. "Study Techniques" focuses on how to make the whole learning experience a lot more powerful, so that you remember more of what you are learning.

Objective 3: Composition Techniques
Perspective and depth: shooting the plant straight on and zoomed in adds detail that the human eye normally wouldn’t pick up from standing above the plant.
Fill the Frame: The bush is the only thing in the photo and it takes up the whole space. This helps the photo because berries are naturally small and having other things around the plant would be easily distracting.
Backgrounds: Having the blurred leaves as the background adds warmth and unity to the photo without being distracting.
Leading Lines: The main branch leads from the bottom left corner to the top right causing the eye to flow through the entire picture easily and comfortably.
Texture: The wrinkles in the berries add interest for the eye and realism in the photo overall.
Colour: The warm tones in most of the leaves contrast with the darker, cooler tones of the berries making them stand out more. It also causes a bit of a darker mood rather than if the berries were bright and plump.
Objective 4: Lighting (side, back, soft, hard, fill)
Types of lighting and how they contribute to the image:
Soft: There are no harsh shadows and all the colours can be seen true to the natural colours
Side: There is a slight lightness coming from the right side of the photo where the sun was angled

Objective 5: Post Production (resize, contrast, sharpening, and others you have done)
Corrections/adjustments made:
I cropped the photo a little bit to get rid of some distracting features that didn’t fit with the picture.
I sharpened the photo
I added contrast to the photo to add more natural warmth
I used the healing brush to remove some berries that seemed out of place
Objective 6: Critique
Strength: I think the positioning of the branch was a very good choice. The colours complement each other very well.
Area for growth: If I could take this photo again I would probably use the lighting and focal length more to my advantage to give a little more dimension between the different parts of the plant.
Workshop participants get to try their hand at different interpretation techniques in front of their peers.
