These two guys were on their way to an Eighties nightclub, as I was going into town to see The Golden Compass last night. They specifically asked that the photo not go on facebook - which, technically, I've not done. Serious effort made with the costume, I think you'll agree.

We had beer in our flip flops and ice in our bras. Nice one, Jess.

The Great Ball Contraption Tower II is the larger sequel to the original GBC Tower from 2019. The tower uses eight Akiyuki modules distributed vertically across two parallel 7-foot structural frames. The tower also uses several additional modules and techniques from many GBC builders from across the globe – an homage to the creativity of the GBC community. The result is a giant MOC with more than 45,000 LEGO® bricks!

BLOOD DRESS - Technical Death Metal

"Blood Dress" born in the middle of 2007 in Mendoza, Argentina. The band started under the name "Key Maker", exploring new musical styles that had never been heard in the area. After some lineup changes, the name was changed to "Blood Dress" that is most representative by the musical style the band made. They by little begin to venture into music much more elaborate, reaching to compose into one of the most brutal and complex styles of today: the Technical Death Metal. Over the years "Blood Dress" was in Chile twice and made over 60 presentations in Mendoza, sharing the stage with bands from different countries, provinces and departments. Currently the band is recording its first album called "Beyond the Flesh" with producer “Mejorarte”. It will be launched by mid 2012.

Dirtbag Challenge 2017! Some rule changes this year: double the time, double the money, TRIPLE the FUN! You get 2 months to build a chopper (no Harleys) using $2,000. And, unlike those other bike shows, you have to RIDE the bike. 100 miles to the secret campsite. Gather round the campsite with your friends. Then a 100 mile ride back to the judging site, where the riders pick the winners. From the founders:

“The Dirtbag Challenge started as a reaction to the increasing perception that a custom motorcycle had to be expensive. There is a belief that custom bikes are the exclusive right of rich pretty boys and media personalities, rolling around on cookie cutter motorcycles that cost the same as a small family home. Well that’s bullshit.

The Dirtbag Challenge is a low rent chopper build-off, featuring real world bikes for riding in the real world. More than that, at the heart of it is a need to do your own thing, to break away from the same old mainstream ideals.

Dirtbag is about doing things your own way – without anyone’s approval, without anyone’s permission. Build the bike you want, live the life you choose. If we can do it, so can you.”

Modified MK2 closeup

There are many times when I catch myself not looking into much detail of the photograph I am taking. I think that still subjects such as landscapes require a very careful examination before and during the picture taking process. And then, there are moments that cannot be missed as a result of examining the scene as this moment will pass and if not capture will go away forever. Sometimes the picture doesn't come out the way we want it, but I personally think that it is not the technical part of photography that is important in such photograph, but the glimpse of life captured.

I really do try to spend more time in the darkroom, but sometimes pictures I take disappoint me to the point where I do not want to print a negative that came out to be not what I've expected for whatever reason, but I keep saying to myself that this is all a process of learning anyway.

The picture above was shot at Lincoln Park, the place where a crowd of people roller skate. The little girl enjoyed dancing and was very curious of my camera (Olympus OM-2, shot with 50mm lens on Tri-X 400 film). The moment is perfect. This is a scan of the print.

Technical notes:

First of all I had to process the film in a different manner as I accidently shot having a +1 stop set on Olympus OM-2, therefore the film was overexposed by a stop and needed to be pull processed which still came out to be good. I started using Ilfosol 3 as my developer and so far it gave really good results with Tri-X film. The development time was 80% of normal development time, 6:15 seconds to be exact and was done at 68 degrees. The print was developed in Kodak Polymax T developer for total of 1 min at 70 degrees. The lower left side of the print has a stain that looks like oil on the paper and that was my mistake for not cleaning the glass on the enlarger.
