In Greek mythology, Atlas is the primordial Titan who holds up the celestial sphere. He is also the titan of astronomy and navigation.

The fountain was designed by William Andrews Nesfield in 1850 and the sculpted figures were carved in Portland stone by John Thomas who was paid £1183 10s 3d (£101,405 as of 2014) for his work. The figures were transported by rail from London to Castle Howard railway station.

The tazza, pedestals, shells and basin were made by local craftsmen. The water engineering was completed by James Easton, taking water from a stream in nearby Coneysthorpe and using a steam engine to pump it uphill to the Ray Wood reservoir.

The fountain was turned on for the first time in October 1853.

Italian gardens are located in Hyde park nearly Lancaster Gate

The Italian Gardens are an elaborate mix of four main basins. They feature central rosettes carved in Carrara marble, the Portland stone and white marble Tazza Fountain, and a collection of stone statues and urns. See if you can spot the five main urn designs - a swan's breast, woman's head, ram's head, dolphin and oval.

The gardens are believed to have been a gift from Prince Albert to his beloved Queen Victoria. They are now recognised as being a site of particular importance and are Grade II listed by Historic England.

The gardens are believed to have been a gift from Prince Albert to his beloved Queen Victoria. They are now recognised as being a site of particular importance and are Grade II listed by Historic England.

In 2011, the gardens were restored to their original splendour. The project involved:

Restoring the original stonework. This included carvingeight life-sized swan heads and necks as replacement handles on some of the urns.

Restoring the Tazza Fountain. Fine stone carving was carried out on-site. The central rosettes also needed careful cleaning and some sections were replaced with newly-carved marble.

A new planting scheme to recapture the Victorian vision and help maintain water quality. Native water lilies, yellow flag iris, flowering rush and purple loosestrife are rooted in cages just below the water. New walkways help ducks get in and out of the water.

A new cleaner water system and water quality improvements. 13 tonnes of silt were removed from the fountain basins during the restoration. The fountains are now fed with fresh water from a borehole.

The water is aerated and its temperature aised as it leaps in the air, before flowing out into the Long Water and improving the

ecology of Lake.

The magnificent Silent Bay of Sestri Levante (aka "Portobello" and "La Tazza") in one. Portobello is definitely a perfect place to live in and one of the more marvellous places in Liguria close to Portofino

Inspiration for Ode to Old Masters.

The term Old Master is used to identify an eminent European artist from the approximate period 1300 to 1800 and includes artists from the Early Renaissance through to the Romantic movement. theartstory.org › definition › old-masters

Clara Peeters (active 1607–1621) was a Flemish still-life painter from Antwerp who worked in both the Spanish Netherlands and Dutch Republic.

Peeters is the best-known female Flemish artist of this era and one of the few women artists working professionally in seventeenth-century Europe, despite restrictions on women's access to artistic training and membership in guilds. Peeters specialized in still-life paintings with food and was prominent among the artists who shaped the traditions of the Netherlandish ontbijtjes, "breakfast pieces," scenes of food and simple vessels, and banketjes, "banquet pieces" with expensive cups and vessels in precious metals.

I woke up at 11am this morning and had breakfast at 11.30. it's strange the way I can stay awake all night and sleep for the whole morning. expecially when it's monday morning.

confession: I HATE monday. the only good thing about monday is that 7 days have to go by before another monday -.-
