TAKEN IN AN OPEN MARKET IN LIENZ (AUSTRIA)
Lienz
is a medieval town in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It is the administrative centre of the Lienz district, which covers all of East Tyrol. The municipality also includes the cadastral subdivision of Patriasdorf.
The area of Lienz had been settled since the Bronze Age about 2000 BC. Celtic people lived here from about 300 BC on, mainly as miners, who came under control of the Roman Empire in 15 BC. The area was incorporated into the province of Noricum and Emperor Claudius had a municipium called Aguntum erected near Lienz in the today's municipality of Dölsach. Aguntum became the see of an Early Christian bishop in the 5th century but decayed during the Slavic settlement of the Eastern Alps and the subsequent fights with the Bavarii under King Tassilo I about 600. Part of the Slavic principality of Carantania, the area passed under Bavarian and finally Frankish suzerainty during the 8th century.

Alzi la mano chi da bambino non ha mai messo una coppia di ciliege tra le orecchie specchiandosi con sguardi vanitosi. L'abbiamo fatto tutti,ragazzini e bambine,immaginandoci addobbati di monili preziosissimi.
Con il loro colore rosso acceso, le ciliegie sono il frutto di un albero che appartiene alla famiglia delle Rosacee e che probabilmente proviene dall’Asia. In particolare, esistono due specie principali di alberi di ciliegie: il Prunus avium detto anche ciliegio dolce e il Prunus cerasus detto invece ciliegio acido. Dal primo derivano principalmente due diverse varietà di ciliegie: le tenerine e le duracine. Mentre le tenerine sono rosse a polpa tenera, le duracine invece possono essere di colore rosso scuro o quasi nero con polpa rossa o di colore rosso chiaro con polpa rosacea e croccante.
Il ciliegio acido produce invece tre diverse varietà: le amarene dall’intenso colore rosso e utilizzate soprattutto per la realizzazione di sciroppi e succhi, le marasche adoperate invece dall’industria conserviera per produrre liquori e, infine, le visciole, molto dolci e in genere da consumare fresche o come conserve.

Raise your hand who as a child has never put a pair of cherries between his ears mirroring himself with vain looks. We all did it, boys and girls, imagining ourselves decorated with precious jewels.
With their bright red color, cherries are the fruit of a tree that belongs to the Rosaceae family and that probably originates from Asia. In particular, there are two main species of cherry trees: Prunus avium also called sweet cherry and Prunus cerasus called acid cherry instead. The first mainly derives from two different varieties of cherries: the tenerine and the duracine. While the tenerine are red with soft pulp, the duracine instead can be dark red or almost black with red pulp or light red with rosacea and crunchy pulp.
Sour cherry produces three different varieties: sour cherries with an intense red color and used above all for making syrups and juices, marasca cherries instead used by the canning industry to produce liqueurs and, finally, sour cherries, very sweet and in general to be eaten fresh or as preserves.

Diciamo che potrebbe sembrare che io sia stata con le mani in mano, o chissà quale vacanza abbia fatto, o ancora, che sia stata presa da un blackout emotivo.
Non è andata così affatto.
Da quando non ho più postato fotografie qui dentro, in flickr, la vita ha cominciato ad andare al contrario.
Prima il computer rotto, ancora fuori uso. Inpiegabilmente ha deciso di chiudere le saracinesche all'hard disk. Poi, lo sciopero dei tir, con conseguenze che tutti conosciamo, la benzina che scarseggiava, le autostrade bloccate. E ancora, un freddo artico, siberiano, chiamatelo come volete, e forse anche la possibilità che qui da me stanotte nevichi e che non mi permetta di uscire di casa domani. I lavori di una casa da ristrutturare. Corri di qua, corri di là, scegliere mattonelle, bagni, pensare a tante cose.
Insomma, una settimana condita a dovere.
Per cui, sembra che io non abbia poi fatto molto alla fine, che abbia trovato pure il tempo di fermarmi a prendere un thè caldo, con il piccolo panettone ricevuto in regalo prendendo una stella di natale per una buona causa.
Eh già, perchè una speranza c'è sempre. E pure un thè caldo da prendere in compagnia.

Created in the 1860s, you can find this ornamental water garden on the north side of park, near Lancaster Gate.
The Italian Gardens are an elaborate mix of four main basins. They feature central rosettes carved in Carrara marble, the Portland stone and white marble Tazza Fountain, and a collection of stone statues and urns. See if you can spot the five main urn designs – a swan's breast, woman's head, ram's head, dolphin and oval.
The gardens are believed to have been a gift from Prince Albert to his beloved Queen Victoria. They are now recognised as being a site of particular importance and are Grade II listed by Historic England.
A brief history of the Italian Gardens
The layout of the Italian Gardens can be traced to Osborne House on The Isle of Wight, where the royal family spent its holidays.
Prince Albert was a keen gardener and took charge of the gardens at Osborne House, where he introduced an Italian garden with large raised terraces, fountains, urns and geometric flower beds.
In 1860 he brought the idea to Kensington Gardens. The design by James Pennethorne includes many features of the Osborne garden.
Look out for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's initials on one of the walls of the Pump House, at the north of the gardens. This building once contained a steam engine which operated the fountains - the pillar on the roof is a cleverly-disguised chimney. A stoker kept the engine running on Saturday nights to pump water into the Round Pond, so on Sundays there was enough water pressure to run the fountains.
Renovating the Italian Gardens
In 2011, the gardens were restored to their original splendour. The project involved:
Restoring the original stonework. This included carvingeight life-sized swan heads and necks as replacement handles on some of the urns.
Restoring the Tazza Fountain. Fine stone carving was carried out on-site. The central rosettes also needed careful cleaning and some sections were replaced with newly-carved marble.
A new planting scheme to recapture the Victorian vision and help maintain water quality. Native water lilies, yellow flag iris, flowering rush and purple loosestrife are rooted in cages just below the water. New walkways help ducks get in and out of the water.
A new cleaner water system and water quality improvements. 13 tonnes of silt were removed from the fountain basins during the restoration. The fountains are now fed with fresh water from a borehole. The water is aerated and its temperature raised as it leaps in the air, before flowing out into the Long Water and improving the ecology of the lake.
The restoration marks the final part of Tiffany - Across the Water, a project to restore ornamental and drinking fountains across the eight Royal Parks, supported by a grant of £784,000 from The Tiffany & Co. Foundation.

Io sono come ieri, anzi meglio, perchè oggi è sabato e domani si dormeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Però questa settimana è anche passata in fretta dai..è la prossima che la vedo un pò grigia..con l'interrogazione di fisica -> AHAHAHAHHA. Ci sarà da ridere. O forse da piangere, ma ridiamoci su lo stesso.
Oggi vi propongo il trittitaz! che ne pensate?
La posizione della tazza non è proprio uguale in tutte le foto, ma su non facciamoci troppo caso, cercate di apprezzare l'imperfezione ^_^

...A TUTTO C'E' RIMEDIO.
La ceramica rotta assomiglia molto ai frammenti sconnessi della nostra vita. Sono molto difficili da rimettere insieme, perché dopo l’impatto della delusione, della perdita o del tradimento, tutti noi ci sentiamo come una tazza o un piatto rotti.
Nonostante ciò, quell’oggetto frantumato può recuperare tutta la su bellezza se viene riparato nel modo giusto. La maggior parte di noi riparerebbe quella tazza usando la solita colla super forte.
Eppure, i giapponesi praticano da tempo un’arte che, oltre ad essere una tecnica utile a salvare la ceramica, si tratta di una vera e propria filosofia dalla quale tutti dovremmo imparare qualcosa.
Sto parlando del kintsukuroi, anche detta riparazione in oro, una tecnica strabiliante grazie alla quale creare un oggetto nuovo, più bello, più forte e che riflette un aspetto della psicologia che tutti noi conosciamo: la resilienza.

Broken pottery looks a lot like the disconnected fragments of our life. They are very difficult to put back together, because after the impact of disappointment, loss or betrayal, we all feel like a broken cup or plate.
Despite this, that shattered object can recover all its beauty if it is repaired in the right way. Most of us would fix that mug using the usual super strong glue.
Yet, the Japanese have long been practicing an art that, in addition to being a useful technique for saving ceramics, is a real philosophy from which we should all learn something.
I'm talking about kintsukuroi, also called gold repair, an amazing technique thanks to which to create a new, more beautiful, stronger object that reflects an aspect of psychology that we all know: resilience.

L'ANCORA DI SALVEZZA. ANCHOR OF SALVATION
Le superstizioni dei marinai dipendono da molti fattori e dalla storica convivenza col mare e con i viaggi. Ecco alcune superstizioni: cosa fare e cosa non fare in mare e in barca!
Superstizioni generali del marinaio
C’erano e ci sono usanze che i marinai cercano assolutamente di evitare a bordo: indossare abiti di un altro marinaio; evitare di fare cadere fuori bordo un bugliolo o una scopa; imbarcare bagagli di colore nero e guardare alle proprie spalle quando si salpa; salire a bordo della nave con il piede sinistro; poggiare una bandiera sui pioli di una scala o ricucirla sul cassero di poppa (attualmente i marinai italiani nel ripiegare la bandiera lasciano il colore verde fuori in segno di speranza); lasciare le scarpe con la suola verso l’alto (presagio di nave capovolta); accendere una sigaretta da una candela (significava condannare un marinaio a morte); evitare il suono prodotto dallo sfregamento del bordo di un bicchiere o di una tazza; il rintocco della campana di bordo se non mossa dal rollio; pronunciare le parole: verde, maiale, uovo, tredici, coniglio; parlare di una nave affondata o di qualcuno morto annegato. Non regalare mai dei fiori da portare a bordo a un marinaio! In passato, i fiori erano strettamente correlati ai funerali ed erano banditi dalle navi. E mai portare un ombrello a bordo !!!

Sailors' superstitions depend on many factors and on historical coexistence with the sea and with travel. Here are some superstitions: what to do and what not to do at sea and on the boat!
General superstitions of the sailor
There were and there are customs that sailors absolutely try to avoid on board: wear clothes from another sailor; avoid dropping a bugle or broom overboard; load black luggage and look behind you when you set sail; board the ship with the left foot; place a flag on the rungs of a ladder or sew it back on the quarterdeck (currently the Italian sailors in folding the flag leave the green color outside as a sign of hope); leave the shoes with the sole upwards (foreshadowing of the ship upside down); lighting a cigarette from a candle (meant condemning a sailor to death); avoid the sound produced by the rubbing of the edge of a glass or cup; the ringing of the bell on board if not moved by the roll; pronounce the words: green, pig, egg, thirteen, rabbit; talk about a sunken ship or someone drowned. Never give flowers to a sailor on board! In the past, flowers were closely related to funerals and were banned from ships. And never carry an umbrella on board !!!

A turtle, frog, snail and crab spin amid fierce, serpent-like sea creatures navigating tumultuous waters in the design of a Tazza. To appeal to potential patrons, Hornick, a goldsmith, outlines in his finished drawing both the bottom of the platter and the profile of the piece. His imagination and his artistry eventually won him an appointment as imperial goldsmith to emperor Rudolf ll.
In hindi la parola chai significa semplicemente tè (la base utilizzata è solitamente un tè nero molto concentrato come Assam o Celyon), mentre il masala è un mix di spezie tra le quali spiccano cannella, cardamomo, zenzero, anice stellato, chiodi di garofano e pepe nero. In India questa bevanda viene consumata a colazione spesso accompagnata da frittelle salate e saporite, poi al bisogno si gusta durante tutta la giornata (un po’ come il nostro espresso).
Questa delizia aromatica è sempre preparata con l’aggiunta di zucchero e latte. Il chai caldo caldo, servito dai chaiwala (venditori di tè) più esperti, viene versato a cascata da una tazza all’altra per creare una deliziosa schiumina che lo rende ancora più invitante.
In Hindi the word chai simply means tea (the base used is usually a very concentrated black tea such as Assam or Celyon), while masala is a mix of spices among which cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, star anise, cloves and black pepper. In India, this drink is consumed for breakfast often accompanied by savory and savory pancakes, then when needed it can be enjoyed throughout the day (a bit like our espresso).
This aromatic delight is always prepared with the addition of sugar and milk. Warm hot chai, served by the most experienced chaiwala (tea vendors), is cascaded from cup to cup to create a delicious foam that makes it even more inviting.
