In the highly successful joint Operation Corridor Roundup, the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force (NIFTF), teamed up with various local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to investigate, locate, and apprehend violent crime suspects. Focusing on the Cedar Rapids, IA area, this collaborative initiative has yielded remarkable results, with twenty-one (21) fugitives apprehended since its inception.

 

These arrests targeted individuals wanted for heinous offenses such as murder, attempted murder, sexual abuse, burglary, robbery, assault, and failure to register as sex offenders. The NIFTF Cedar Rapids Office has been instrumental in coordinating the efforts of participating agencies, including the Cedar Rapids Police Department, Linn County Sheriffâs Office, Iowa Department of Public Safety â Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Marion Police Department, Waterloo Police Department, Iowa Department of Corrections â High-Risk Unit, Linn County Attorneyâs Office, and the U.S. Attorneyâs Office for the Northern District of Iowa.

 

The success of Operation Corridor Roundup reflects the dedication and commitment of these law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of the Cedar Rapids community. By swiftly apprehending these violent fugitives, they have effectively neutralized threats posed by individuals involved in serious criminal activities.

 

HOUSTON – 501 arrests were made during a 90-day law enforcement operation to reduce violent gang crime in the greater Houston area. Federal, State and Local law enforcement cleared 793 felony warrants, arrested 113 documented gang members, and seized 41 firearms, 11.6 kilos of narcotics, $461,560 in currency and nine vehicles.

U.S. Marshals-led Operation Triple Beam (OTB) was conducted by the Houston Police Department’s North Shepherd and South Gessner Divisions, along with the, the Harris and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Offices, Texas Department of Public Safety, Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Agency, Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas, Texas Department of Criminal Justice-OIG, The Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

OTB is an initiative, developed by The U. S. Marshals, to target and arrest violent fugitives and criminal offenders who commit high-profile crimes such as homicide, felony assault and sexual assault, illegal possession of firearms, illegal drug distribution, robbery and arson. Each local, state and federal agency utilized enforcement techniques and statutory authority in order to disrupt the criminal operations of violent gangs across the county and in the Houston and surrounding areas.

Brigadier General Osborne was commissioned in the US Army after graduating from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee, in 1974. He currently serves as the Deputy Commanding General, Southern European Task Force - U.S. Army Africa. One of his primary roles is Army Reserve Component Integration Advisor and to establish the policies, plans, and procedures needed to institutionalize Army National Guard support for US Army Africa. He also serves in a “Dual-Hat” assignment as the Assistant Adjutant General, Tennessee Army National Guard, in Nashville, TN, where he is responsible for the supervision and training of more than 10,600 soldiers in the Tennessee Army National Guard. Previous assignments include Director and Chief, Joint Staff, Tennessee National Guard, Assistant Chief of Staff Logistics and Maintenance, Tennessee Army National Guard, Commander, Support Squadron, 278th Armored Calvary Regiment, Knoxville, TN, and S-2/3, 176th Maintenance Battalion, Johnson City, TN. His Platoon Leader/ Shop Officer assignments were in the 169th Maintenance Battalion at Fort Hood, TX, before transition to the Army National Guard in 1978. BG Osborne also served in various assignments as a full-time Tennessee National Guardsmen in Federal Civil Service status until his retirement in February 2009.

 

Brigadier General Osborne is a graduate of the Signal Officer Basic Course, Ordnance Officer Advance Course, Armor Officer Advance Course, Command and General Staff Officer Course, and the US Army War College. He holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Education from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN and a Master of Strategic Studies from the US Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, PA.

 

His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters), and Army Achievement Medal (with Oak Leaf Cluster).

U.S. Army Sgt. Robert Streeter of Newton, Iowa, and soldier with Troop B, 1st Squadron, 113th Cavalry Regiment, Task Force Redhorse, scans a nearby hilltop during a search of the Qual-e Jala village here, Feb. 21. Afghan National Army soldiers, Afghan National Police and other assets partnered with Troop B to search the village of Qual-e Jala for targeted individuals in order to ‘clear, hold, build’ Koh-e Safi District. While searching the village, the Troop B soldiers and their partners killed one known insurgent, detained four others and also found assorted weapons which they gathered and destroyed. Task Force Redhorse is a part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, also known as Task Force Red Bulls, and maintains security throughout Parwan province.

The Task Force has identified that fighters were massing in the Naran Darre mountains. After gathering intelligence and mission planning, General Miller approved a mission to assault the suspected cave complex.

 

At nightfall, the operation was launched. The 20-operator assault team and a 6-man fire support team were inserted by a Chinook helicopter. The helicopter performed a pinnacle landing at a ridge line to insert the assault force.

Hey guys,I've missed you all.I'm at a really busy time in my life right now with two kids and one on the way,I just can't seem to find much time for the computer.I took a bit of a break,so with Mom's encouragement,I'm hoping to be back in spurts.I hope to be by to see all my dear friends a couple of times a week.And maybe post once in a while.I appreciate you all so much and am only back because I missed you all so much and because mom insisted.lol

Description: The Women's National Emergency Legion (WNEL) was an Australian female auxiliary and training organisation of the World War II-era that was based in Brisbane. It was established in 1938 and provided volunteers with training in first aid and other skills which were seen as being relevant to Australia's war effort. Following the outbreak of the Pacific War members of the organisation were attached to the US military units in Australia as transport drivers and clerks. They also undertook mine watching and other tasks. The WNEL was active as late as October 1947.
