The brandmark that followed is a customised typeface that’s been designed to work with a subdued colour palette and crisp, structured typography. Contrasting textured art paper stock against solid pastels you get a tangible, hand-crafted feeling that combines technical design prowess with old world fine art. In 1990 artists from all over the world were invited to paint a 1.3 km section of the inner Wall, which is now known as the East Side Gallery.
I was last in Berlin in 1984. I remember placing my hand on the Wall in West Berlin and thinking how it had such a tangible, oppressive feeling and how people had died trying to cross it. It was so strange to place my hand on the Wall during this trip and to know that it had lost all of the power it once had.

Beat Blocks is a tangible interface for a rhythm sequencer. The user is able to create and manipulate an 8-track drum loop (only 4 in this prototype version) on the fly by physically re-arranging blocks within a matrix. See "http://www.jeffhoefs.com/index.php?page=beatblocks" for more info.
