One of the best Indian restaurant in Tokyo. The grilled meats and curries are just awesomely delicious! (via Foodspotting)

A somewhat Indian-style bento today:

Tandoori chicken, pan-fried capsicum with coconut flakes, plain pink rice; cucumber raita; and a very simple carrot and apple salad.

I used two de-boned chicken thighs with skin for the tandoori chicken. They were marinated overnight and then oven-cooked for about 40 minutes, then I cut them up into several pieces for the lunchbox.

Mostly juicy, but the spices and the charcoal makes a difference. Despite being a little peppery, Isaac had the whole drumstick! And a bit of rice.

Rice sandwiches filled with tandoori chicken, apple slices, red onion, napa cabbage, and an improvised mayonnaise and yoghurt sauce. Cabbage and babycorn salad.

I had some more room left in my bento box, so I packed a few teabags to refill my stash at work.

I used the green part of the cabbage leaves for the sandwiches to prevent the juices and mayonnaise from soaking into the rice too much. This left me with the crunchy white stems, which I didn't just want to throw out, so they were sliced thinly and made into a kind of salad.

Dinner at the Bombay Brazier,

Lexington, KY

My first meal in Lexington, KY: dinner at this restaurant (just a short walk from the Lexington Convention Centre/Triangle Park area).

I was accompanied by Jennifer and Arnold Pommerance (who very graciously agreed to be my personal chauffeur), Lilla Correia, and Beth Grant along with daughter.

Very good company all!

Wonderful ambience, eclectic decor, excellent Indian cuisine.

I highly reccommend :-)

Tandoori chicken ready for the 'tandoor' (clay oven) at a local eatery in the busy and congested Shahganj area of Aurangabad. This is as local as it gets- the restaurant is very heavily subscribed, does mostly mutton (goat) but also some chicken dishes- no fish, and no veggie stuff here. This very traditional and very rustic eatery does roaring business and it's very difficult to get a seat here at lunch time. And oh, haring your seat with a bunch of strangers is the rule rather than the exception. The meat is fall off the bone and super tasty though. (Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Dec. 2022)

Ideally, I shouldn't say anything beyond this because the picture and the caption are rather self explanatory. But, I felt, this picture merits stating that this picture is straight out of the camera, without any processing. Cheers!

Many years ago when Maria and I lived in Karachi, Pakistan, we developed a deep passion for Indian ad Pakistani Food. This chicken I made for dinner tonight was not cooked in a tandoori, nor was it seasoned with the “proper” spice blend a cook wood actually use to make a traditional tandoori chicken.

Nevertheless, this dish came out of the oven smelling, tasting and looking like the best of them :-)

The legendary Karim's Tandoori Chicken, my mouth is still watering.

www.karimhoteldelhi.com/index1.html

Tandoori chicken is a popular Indian dish consisting of roasted Chicken prepared with Yogurt and Spices. The name comes from the type of cylindrical clay oven, a Tandoor, in

which the dish is traditionally prepared.

The chicken is marinated in yogurt and seasoned with the spice mixture Tandoori Masala. It is moderately piquant in India, but the heat is reduced in most Western nations. Pepper, red chili powder or kashmiri red chili powder is used to give it a fiery red hue in the original version. A higher amount of tumeric produces an orange color. In milder versions, both red and yellow food coloring could sometimes be used to achieve bright colors, however turmeric powder is both mild and brightly colored, as is paprika, a sweet red pepper powder. It is traditionally cooked at high temperatures in a tandoor (clay oven), but can also be prepared on a traditional barbecue grill.

We went out for lunch this afternoon and as always enjoyed the food. Rashpal, the boss gave us each a mango lassi and a discount on the meal because I always take photos for him when I go to the restaurant. He said he really likes my photos and appreciates that I do this for him. It's my pleasure!

We discovered the "Little India" Restaurant on the Gold Coast Highway at Labrador in November 2009. Whilst we have previously enjoyed Indian food... however, this place is an absolute gem... We had never realized how fabulous Indian Cuisine could be until we came to this restaurant...

The food here is absolutely superb, the service is great and they will even cater to individual tastes and preferences, the restaurant is small and elegant, the portions are more generous than in other Indian restaurants and dining here is exceptionally good value.

Every time that we have dined at the Little India Restaurant, we have had a very pleasant experience and very fond memories... so much so, that we have made this our favourite restaurant.

A cousin in my extended family has recently given birth to a beautiful baby boy m'A! The new grandparents got family and friends together for a meal at a restaurant in Knightsbridge to celebrate last weekend. It was a great party! One that the little 2 month old might not remember if it wasn't for the fact that there were quite a few cameras floating about, he'll be able to look at his party pictures when he's older!

I had this at Bombay Mahal while extremely hungover from the activities of the night before. Good stuff.
