This image was taken at the Grimsby, Ontario Lawn Bowling club. The blue areas in the background are the adjacent tennis club court surfaces. I was drawn to the pattern of green bands and the contrasting blue. - JW

I took this image of this wildflower in 1998 with a Nikon F4S film camera. I was using, what at that time was my brand new Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro lens. I used 50 speed Fujichorme Velvia film. I used to love that film, the color saturation was fantastic. I was just beginning to learn about photography back then. This was taken near the Chattahoochee River, in my hometown of Atlanta Georgia. I used to love to go up there and photograph nature, there was so many different subjects from which to chose. I miss that area around the Chattahoochee, but I don't miss Atlanta.
I hope ya'll like it!

Plant is Frost Aster, Symphyotrichum pilosum, or a related species (first image), then Tickseed, Bidens species (second image). It was the same fly that I followed around from plant to plant!
We had an orchid bloom given to us from a bouquet that was being discarded. This bloom was still quite nice so I placed it in a small vase. On a very grey day, I set the configuration up near a window and played around with the composition until I got this. But I never processed the resulting image. Until now. It has been so depressing dull for too many days, a bit of colour was in order. I dug through my files, pulled this out and had my way with it. Brightened my day considerably. - JW

Day 1, BPC December Challenge.
It really wasn't a very good day for pictures at the Uraidla Hotrods and Classics Picnic. Still, the music was good...but I did get wet
