Passenger service was discontinued by Madagascar Railways (Madarail) on this Antananarivo-Antsirabe route some years back so the freight trains carry passengers mostly on a flat car.

Madarail's Alstom AD12B-Series (Bo-Bo axles, single cab, V12 1050 hp / 620 kW engine) No. BB1207 locomotive was manufactured by Alsthom in Belfort, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, France between 1976 to 1982.

I've been having some 'Lessons' on Macro photography ... it looks like I'm going to need more !!!

The weather has been lousy for the past few days. I got bored and did a lighting project. I figured this would be a good one.

Vitsippa, Anemone nemorosa L. Säveåns naturreservat

A 'super macro', using a Tamron 90mm macro lens, extension tubes, and a 2x TC. This was handheld, and I was very lucky to just catch the very thin DoF - the spider's head is about 1.5-2mm across.

Aidez moi a m'améliorer / Help me to improve.

Been a while since I've been on here..... been a while since I've had the camera out come to think of it....... but found this little fellow (5cm long from end to end) on the door jam and thought, ah he will be a nice little model. Carefully lifted him onto a white board. Set up the flashes, one on either side shooting through umbrellas and started shooting........ only then did I realize that I had disturbed him right in the middle of his lunch. He didn't seem to pay any attention to me though so I got a few more frames and then put him out in the garden to enjoy the rest of his lunch.

Facts about Preying Mantis'

They are the only insects that can turn their head side-to-side 180 degrees. Their eyes can see movement

up to 60 feet away. The praying mantis bites the back of the neck of its victim to paralyze it before eating it. There are over 1,500 species of the praying mantis worldwide.

Mantids are closely related to cockroaches and termites. Female mantids sometimes eat their mates. Mantids have binocular vision, but only one ear.
