This morning when I got up there was nothing on this table other than some papers and laptop. By midday (and after a trip to the bargain racks at Michael's) here's how it looked.
Table grapes? Not this year, and please don't write in about blister mites. Mites are the least of my worries right now.
This is an old black muscat, and had started Spring with the vigour of a much younger vine.
Have you ever caught the scent of grape leaves? It's the elusive taste in dolmades, something you discover if you make your own: first collect leaves, blanch, stuff, roll and cook. That blanching step has the same scent I'm smelling as I photograph this scene. As an aside, I wouldn't use leaves from this variety for dolmades. They'd be alright to donate their tannins to a batch of dill pickles, but too coarse for eating. The leaves of the purple cornichon vine further up the row; they're the ones for dolmades. Not now I suppose, and I'm not going to look.
Without leaves, I guess those mites are doomed too. Good!
A little bit of order goes a long way! :oO
And now to clear out all those shelves!
But, wait, didn't Thermodynamics say disorder always had to increase??
Ha! Well, I guess we beat the odds! Goes to show you what good scientists are for!

My neighbour started making this mosaic table top a couple of years and has now finished it. Lovely fishy theme, so appropriate for our waterfront location.
We were assigned a table setting group assignment in one of my classes. This was what one of the groups produced (not mine).
A player has come off the field complaining of cramp and tightness in his hamstring. A club official makes use of a nearby picnic table to help stretch the affected leg muscles.
The nature table at the themed launch party of Tim Nickels' new book The English Soil Society published by Elastic Press. Everyone who put some things on the table was in with a chance to win a book - I won! I won the bingo last time as well!
That is my nasturtium branch covering the pizza leaflet that someone found in their garden.
Antimony (SB, 51) from the Printmakers' Periodic Table of the Elements project. This spring, I tried the plate out with this light brown ink on cream paper. Akua intaglio inks, Somerset paper. The image is based on the town of Antimony, Utah. Having lived in the West for a while, I think of the green hills and valleys as turning brown as the hot summer sun dries things out. Was going for that effect here. But I think I still prefer the dark green I used for the 'official' project version.

With the space constraints of a small boat I didn't want to carry an extra table for the cockpit. Here the cabin table is mounted in the cockpit for outdoor meals.
From every vantage Table Mountain is very imposing.
The image is from a 32 year old 35mm Kodak negative shot from a Yashica ELECTRO 35CC camera and scanned by an HP Scanjet 5470c, restored using multiple Photoshop operations.
