Posters from each table from the So what's changed event held by education.au at the Wentworth, Sydney Australia, April 2006.
During the 'have your say' workshop each table was asked to produce a single page poster as a synthesis of their ideas on what has changed in education as a result of the read-write web.

Drawing II Final
Medium: photography, ink, vellum, charcoal
I started with a Hockney-style panoramic photo collage of the Undergraduate library. Four of the photos were replaced with charcoal drawings and four were overlayed with ink-on-vellum-outlines. Most of the photos were layered with vellum to create a ghosted image and shift the focus to the drawings. Each piece is not completely glued down, creating an interjection into the viewer's space and adding a sculptural element. This is especially evident in the vellum pieces.
The title, Synthesis, has multiple meanings. One is the literal synthesis of the collaging of mediums. Additionally, there is a synthesis of a single image through fragments in various stages of clarity. That last meaning incorporates the library as the subject, representing a synthesis of knowledge and information.
My professor didn't like the title. I'm not overly fond of it either, but I couldn't think of anything better.
Drawing II was pretty much opposite of Drawing I. I don't think I learned nearly as much this semester as I did last semester, but I'm satisfied with this final project (although it was the cause of hours of frustration). I made a conscious decision to incorporate photography and architecture in order to keep myself engaged in the project, so that helped.
I've always thought the architecture of the Undergrad library is really cool. We built our library underground so the corn could still grow... welcome to central Illinois.
