As a result of my strokes i now experience music synesthesia, in that when i hear music my brain interprets the notes as colour. I experience sound in translucent hazes of colour that intermingle with one another. The longer i hear a note the more solid it becomes and visa verse so a fleeting note is very translucent. The haze is not dependent on the pace of the music, but rather the haze grows and changes in response the actual note changes itself

One of my nearest and dearest made reference to what if you could see the air molecules vibrating in response to the energy transferred to them from the sound wave. So this is my take on that. The circles represent the notes, the lines represent the airs movement in response to the sound wave, and i will pastel and pencil in a representation of my music synesthesia

A wandering critter happened into the yard today. The opossom was caught in the fence. It just so happened that I had my camera ready and able to snap a shot the moment that I witnessed the predicament.

So, I quickly freed the little creature, but as I did so it became a bit shall we say camera shy at about the moment that I showed up. Gratefully for my sake and yours, I was able to snap a few good shots from "its perspective" before it regained its composure and subsequently crawled away back into the brush.

Zachary Seto is a Canadian-born Chinese Sri Lankan multidisciplinary artist. He was awarded the YoungCreators Top Choreographer in 2020, the youngest ever winner at the age of 15 ages 14-22+. His piece, Nostalgic Beings of Synesthesia, was the second show on the first day of Battery Dance Festival. It is the continuation of constant conversations, the dialogue of speaking in a language unknown to humankind. It explores the physical experience of undulating spiritual verbal dialect through movement.

Lifetime Dream # 15 of my list of 155: I will learn to play every song on Joe Satriani's self-titled album that was such a tremendous influence on my life. With each song I will delve deeper into my blues roots, and the memories of this album and its influence on my life.

I have referenced this song previously in my 365 Days project, both in 2010 that was strictly dedicated to music and in 2009 as well. This album came out during a very influential time in my life, a period where much change was happening in my soul. I was dying to my past and coming alive to the many passions of music that I had long-since tried to kill off… it was the absolute best year of my life.

This abum is Joe Satriani’s heaviest blues album… it’s one that I think people either love or hate; I’d wager to say that most people who don’t like the album never really listened to the album. That’s how I was at first. I have a gift called Synesthesia where I can see music in color, and this album is one of the most brilliantly and vividly colored albums I have ever heard.

Technically and musically, this is a very difficult album to master. Speed isn’t always the only thing that makes playing difficult… I’ll take it song by song and learn this album… there’s just something about playing music… especially instruments where you are connected to the instrument- where you can feel the music come alive through you… it’s an amazing gift we have received.

Joe doesn’t use a whole wide range of guitar pedals, but the Wah Pedal is one of them. It has been used by many of the greats from Hendrix to Van Halen, and this was an early birthday present to myself! Now I have no excuse not to learn this album!

This is (the worst) attempt at visualizing what I see at 0:17-0:19 seconds of the song "In the City."

The big green thing is is guitar and makes me think of an old friend named Tyler;

The boxes are the snare drum;

The ovals are the wacky keyboard which makes me think of a girl;

the crossed lines are the hi-hat;

The horizontal lines mark the height and drop of the tones of the bass guitar (there are vertical lines marking the start/stop of when each note is played, but they don't show up;

The horizontal rectangles make up the piano.

There is much more that is completely missing or completely inacurate. I am useless at this function of Photoshop at the moment, as it's only the guitar that's green and that's the most acurate (but not entirely).

I think I'd be 100% better off drawing/coloring myself instead of trying to use software, really.

Psilocybin mushrooms are non-toxic and non-addictive although they do create short term increases in tolerance of users. Oral ingestion can produce nausea, dizziness, and sometimes vomiting. The greatest danger from recreational use is a "bad trip" which can cause severe emotional and psychological distress. Also, extremely poisonous wild picked mushrooms can be easily mistaken for psilocybin mushrooms. Mushrooms should be identified by a professional mycologist if ingestion is deemed appropriate. When psilocybin is ingested, it is broken down to produce psilocin, which is responsible for the hallucinogenic effects

Noticeable changes to the audio, visual, and tactile senses may become apparent from between ten minutes to an hour after ingestion. These shifts in perception, visually, include enhancement and contrasting of worldly colors, strange light phenomena (such as auras or "halos" around lights sources), increased visual acuity, surfaces that seem to ripple, shimmer, or breathe; complex open and closed eye visuals of form constants or images, objects that warp, morph, or change solid colors; a sense of melting into the environment, and trails behind moving objects. Sounds seem to be heard with increased clarity; music, for example, can often take on a profound sense of cadence and depth. Some users experience synesthesia, wherein they perceive, for example, a visualization of color upon hearing a particular sound.

During the psychedelic experience, emotions can rapidly and inexplicably change. Contradictory emotions, such as wonder, bliss, sadness, fear can all be encountered within minutes of each other or simultaneously. High doses carry the increased possibility of a spiritual event known as ego death, whereby the user loses the sense of boundaries between their body and the environment, creating a sort of perceived universal unity. Users may experience profound feelings of connectivity with a higher power or the universe.

Chagall: Colour and Music

As a child, Chagall (born Moshe Segal) not only wanted to be a singer, he also wanted to be a dancer, a violinist and a poet. In short, he wanted to be an artist. He had the spirit of synesthesia: all the arts moved and stimulated him, excited and captivated him. His heightened sensitivity to smells, sounds and colours conjured up for him memories of his early life near Vitebsk, in the heart of White Russia, 500 kilometres froms Saint Petersburg in one direction and Moscow in the other, when present-day Belarus was part of the czar's empire. An artist without borders, Chagall orchestrated an oeuvre encompassing diverse fields: easel painting, wall painting, book illustration, lithography, theatre costume design, sculpture, ceramics, stained glass, mosaic and tapestry. Within this body of work, we feel the presence of many musical forms: songs from his childhood, chanted prayers, popular festivals, reading aloud, ballet and opera performances and, of course, a wide range of classical and contemporary composers. The soundtrack of his life is now - for the first time, surprisingly the subject of this in-depth exhibition.

Organized in North America by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Canadian presentation combines the two projects mounted previously in partnership between the Musée de la Musique in Paris and the Musée d'Art et d'Industrie André Diligent in Roubaix, to which numerous works have been added - loaned with the support of the artist's family - as well as numerous costumes, thanks to the cooperation of our partner, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

I photographed my guitar to show how music, or any art, helps to navigate through life, especially when it’s difficult. The colored strings represent how I have synesthesia, which lets me see color and patterns with sounds, adding even more beauty and meaning to the song. Music makes verbalizing emotions and ideas easier for me, and the colors and patterns make it even more meaningful. Creating meaningful art, or just doing things creatively, make me happy, and are how I show my voice, so I decided to photograph that.
