Ligt heeft een audiotour samengesteld die wandelaars langs een vari-erend (rand)stedelijk landschap leidt, waarin de aan- en afwezigheid van reclame en dergelijke vormen van grafische toepassingen in de publieke ruimte, letterlijk wordt besproken. Synchronicity was the theme of the weekend. Lambert got his leave again, my practice on Saturday & Sunday was canceled, Matt and Carin got back from abroad, and our spur of the moment trip to Bloomington couldn't have gone better if we planned it. And as an EXTRA ADDITIONAL BONUS we got to see Jon & Lauren in Indianapolis when we were heading home. CombiChrist was playing there on Monday night, and we were passing through, so everything was perfectly aligned for old friends to reunite.

I had a moment of synchronicity Wednesday when I ran into one of my parents' neighbors (I'm house-sitting for my parents). We got to talking because she runs her own nonprofit that offers art classes for children and adults with disabilities. I told her about how I'm taking grant writing classes because I want to work at a nonprofit and how I do photography for a nonprofit animal shelter. She asked if I'd be interested in photographing the kids in one of her classes. Of course I said yes. I think many people are uncomfortable around people with disabilities, and I'd love to use my photos to show others that the disabled are people just like the rest of us.
Also, my second grant writing class started Wednesday.
And I found two new punk bands I really like. Yay for new music!
I did not use flash. The pro on my left side did. I caught his flash on 1/250. We obviously found the same moments interesting, but 1/180 is supposed to be the fastest flash sync on the E-400?
(Shooting RAW is nice when this happens. The boys had an unhealthy over-exposed pale skin color in the JPEG from the camera.)

That was the day I ran into fellow flickrite Darren (Natureshooter) much to my delight. He pulled over with his friend as I was crawling around in yet another ditch, and called me by name... from seeing my photos! I loved the synchronicity of it all.

Loes van Esch (New York) en Simone Trum (Rotterdam) bevinden zich momenteel zo’n 6000 kilometer van elkaar, maar toch blijkt deze afstand zeer relatief door nieuwe media als skype en Google Earth. Het kleiner worden van de wereld, en de daarbij gepaard gaande inwisselbaarheid van plaats, willen zij demonstreren door het uitwisselen van hun dagelijkse routes door hun respectievelijke stad. Door instructies m.b.t. richting en afstand, doorkruisen zij hun steden met de wandelroute van de ander, waarbij de verschillen en overeenkomsten in ervaringen, ontmoetingen en waarnemingen worden gedocumenteerd. Dit groeiend verslag wordt vervolgens getoond op wederom een andere plek op de wereld; meerbepaald in de tentoonstellingsruimte van Kunstenaarsinitiatief Paraplufabriek.
