I love the magic coincidence when my finger twitches on the shutter button at the exact moment a bird twitches into flight. It is especially nice when it is in focus or nearly so. Or would you prefer to believe it is talent? ;)

I decided to bring out my inner Shaman after visiting Enchantment's current round. Because I'm awkward I'm wearing Static's Evil Mistress Mantle as part of the headdress for an authentic Shamanistic look. Add to that Neferkalum's Uninvited around the eyes and brows and Spiritus for the neck and shoulders and Contraption's horns I was ready to face whatever the spirits of the dead could throw at me. However, I ended up running into the sea yelling 'woooo!' instead because I'm like, six years old or something...

Winter sunset kayaking on the Russian River, in Jenner, California, where the Russian River empties into the Pacific Ocean. In physics, the relativity of simultaneity is the concept that distant simultaneity – whether two spatially separated events occur at the same time – is not absolute, but depends on the observer's reference frame, as our perception here of the synchronicity of the kayak paddle blades striking the water is transcendent in the imperfect serendipity of the moment.
These Belgian horses have featured in my photostream before, and I was glad when I saw them again on a walk in the neighbourhood. The foal had grown considerably and he was grazing - synchronically, I would say - with his mother!

I was on the trail, I always turn right at the summit, today I went left and asked for a totem. I ran into my first ever tarantula, huge and squatting out in the open, in the middle of the path, coincidence or synchronicity?

Yesterday I was looking at another user's awesome owl photos and t has been months since I've seen/heard any owls. So... I said to myself "it would be so awesome if I could just go outside and photograph an owl" I kid you not, around 3 am I hear a few deep owl hoots right across the street! I was so excited I could barely hold the camera straight :-) Thank you universe.

The other night James was on our front porch with a couple of neighbors, and one neighbor heard a bird call she identified as a Flycatcher, but James couldn't remember the kind. James had never seen one before. We talked a little bit about Flycatchers afterwards and I thought it was probably a Great Crested Flycatcher, having seen one only once before. Today on our 6 mile walk around the lake, James mentioned that perhaps we'll see one. In fact, we saw 3 of them in 2 different locations, and I was able to get one decent shot. James keeps calling events like these "Synchronicity" Here is the Synchronicity Principle according to Carl Jung: "Synchronicity is an acausal principle and can be defined by a meaningful coincidence which appears between a mental state and an event occurring in the external world". We've had a lot of these coincidences lately!

I had always known starlings in a flock to be in unison while changing direction mid flight, but I am always amazed to see even the wing position and beats be almost identical at any given moment. The orange glow was from another wonderful sunrise in combination with a sudden heavy shower of rain on the surface of the river behind the reeds! You can just make out some raindrops falling near the top of the image if you zoom in. It was yet another mesmerising morning on the edge of the Murray River in Mannum, SA.

Back in time again....to 10.25am on Saturday 5th June 2021 - first day of the Great Central Railway's 2021 'First Hurrah Gala'.
Viewed from the road over-bridge at Quorn and Woodhouse Station, sees this fine LMSR duo of Stanier 8F 2-8-0 No. 48305 piloting Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 No. 46521 in 'Perfect Synchronicity' - Ex Loughborough Central with the 'Sanitised Empty Coaching Stock' to form the day's first steam departure of the Quorn-Leicester North-Quorn service - much to the delight of the many awaiting passengers.
