KRUNK presents, Strategic Synchronicity – an incredibly rare four-day event featuring the first ever LA solo-show by the internationally acclaimed graffiti artist & true pioneer of the American Urban Art movement – Futura. This once in a lifetime event starts on Thursday September 18th and will only continue until Sunday September 21st (in a secret location in Downtown LA). Then it's gone.
This, as perhaps Futura's most anticipated body of work ever, will showcase his extraordinary talent with a range of original canvases and drawings. Fans and art collectors will have a narrow window of opportunity to purchase original Futura art, with prices starting from $1,500 and upwards. The exhibition will not only showcase his new work but will also take a genuinely evolving organic form - a work in progress. This will be a truly historic occasion for fine art and street culture in the U.S. and should not be missed.
"LA was an obvious destination for me to showcase this collection. The city has so many incredible creatives who I consider as friends and whose work I respect enormously. It's about time I hit LA particularly with this collection. Above all, I'm looking forward to having some fun presenting AND creating this new work in LA." Futura
What to expect: Futura's past experience merges with his vision of the future, combining his tendency towards meticulous precision with his trademark free-flowing spraycan techniques. His art appears effortless in its abstraction with commentary on themes such as 'space' and 'the future' and his interpretation of 'the present'. Those lucky enough to be present might spot an 'old friend' in his work (perhaps for the last time?) as well as some incredible advancements and developments of his art form:
Futura has always had a keen interest and somewhat of an obsession with the latest technologies, so expect to see canvases stretched onto aluminium (in order to prevent warping due to environmental factors), pieces complemented by specifically devised music scores and film trials and much more.
"I consider this collection my best work yet, when I started on it I could feel myself about to explode. All these years of development and it reflects my growth and evolution. I want this work considered on its merits….and in that sense, I'm going right back to the beginning." Futura

This picture of the entrance to Caisteal Grugaig Broch could be the starting image for a production that in parts follows the routine of a preflight safety announcement. Using hands gestures familiar to flight attendants, as well as to those focused on their gesticulation, the central aisle can be indicated with two hands in a parallel almost chopping gesture. The side portals leading of the central aisle can be indicated with repeated sideways palms outwards chopping actions. Instead of indicating routes to safely leave the plane to escape danger the indications in this imaginary production would be a guide to places ready to engage, encounter and experience the traveller with the history and mystery raised in the remains of the stone structure. For me the preflight safety announcement idea opens up the potential available from following the direct route down the aisle as a visitor stooping and stepping into the central open section.
Also I am following the imaginary guide from the preflight safety announcement to step off the central aisle to take in the potential available from the side portals. By absolute happenstance the image when reflected has a some excellent patterns that create figures with one of them looking like an iconic version of old sacred statuary with a superb feather headdress. The synchronicity of the patterns holding such striking figures is supremely serendipitous as I have recently been looking at iconic old sacred statuary and enjoying the symbols in their structure when synchronicity strikes at the edges of the images of Caisteal Grugaig Broch rousing notions of a preflight safety announcement to then reveal in reflections of statue like figures.
The witchcraft that is stirred into these images is not the cunning editing as the editing is simple and straightforward just reflecting the original image. The name name Caisteal Grugaig is a reminder of the witch that supposedly lived here. Grugaig had two sons Telve and Todder. The sons are sometimes mentioned as giants and these two giants built and lived in Dun Telve and Dun Troddan the two magnificent brochs just over the hills and past Glenelg. There is also Dun Gruaig Broch that is closer to Dun Telve and Dun Troddan so the witch may have been in two places at once as well as having two giant sons in two magnificent brochs. Which ever way the witch story weaves a narrative, the beauty of the four brochs is tale set in stone that is worth telling and retelling.
The stones rise into open skies that release the imagination to fuel our inspiration until we are in our own ingenious visualisation ready to recount our own narration of witches, giants and brochs. I have my story from listening in to the wind and reflecting the resound of the echoes from the ground that around a campfire can be shared as water bubbles and boils to give accompanying brew to enlighten the story.
There are some further details here. Some useful details here.
Caisteal Grugaig Broch, if not with the white Hare Hind as seen in some of the other pictures, is a phantastique place of solid stone and dreaming design. Something secure rose here to stretch the sky and meet the clouds and even as the stone falls gently back down to the ground the sky still rolls in off the mountains and across the lochs to meet this site next to fresh water and towering over the sea.

Prim has been lowered and saved by using poses not placed in traditional pose balls hidden inside, on top of or around the furniture. No unrealistic or distracting sit balls anywhere to get in the way during photos! No mis-matched colors on your furniture from the annoying sit pose balls that can't be modified.
You don't have to have precision pointing to sit, simply sit on the surface the bottom of the chair. It's that easy! The two other poses have been placed in the back pillows. Several seating combinations can be accomplished with single poses and couple poses.

This is a lovely gallery in Glen Arbor, featuring works by Michigan artists: paintings, glass work, ceramics, jewelry, prints, etc. I got something nice here yesterday, photo to follow soon!

This photograph is part of the Synchronized Synchronicity project that Dagmar and I are incorporating into our 366 sets, where we alternate calling the theme for each Wednesday's entry.
The assignment for this week is "clothing".

....just want to be your lover...

...forget about your house of cards..."
2 floating stomaches... my first test of Augmented Reality with a simple idea, here in connection with the exhibition of David Lynch / Frac Auvergne. Still of the work to improve this idea…. Route of SynchroniCity / festival of digital art in March in the City of Clermont-Ferrand.
I'm a synchronicity junkie and have been since I first did the Artist's Way in 1996 which introduced me to the word. Before that I'd liked coincidences...
So the funny thing about this book is that I ordered it mid-February from a UK based Amazon reseller. They normally deliver pretty quickly so I was a bit disappointed that it hadn't arrived and sent them an email yesterday.
The seller told me that it had been returned to them though without saying why... and that is odd because recently the post around here has been excellent and they've even managed to get things to me with the wrong address on them... it was resent 1st class yesterday and I got it today.
It was fun to watch this group. All their cameras moved in perfect synchronicity when their guide pointed them to this or that.
One of the installations in 'Synchronicity' by UVA at 180 Studios. Not a static installation - video here. The title refers to the Renaissance idea that the motions of the planets were governed by similar mathematical laws to music.

I caught these two Ring-billed Gulls landing together on a Racine beach this fall. They're in the same formation as they 'touchdown'!
...also amazed by the way synchronicity works in our lives sometimes, especially when we are tuned to our inner true, deep existances, am sharing these truths, that were found in a form of a mail this morning, just a f t e r having written my thoughts and experiences on life, inspired by the recent photos of my neighborhood.
It was like being asked to emphasize and share the value of Inner Peacefulness even more.....so here they are, in three pieces, no eye candy this time, just bare words.... of tremendous imporatance.
