On special from Amazon Au arrived after a couple of days 27th Sep 2024 have put a needle in the pinhole. Another handy small 2-layer #SAKedc to have around or in a pocket. 100647 on the toothpick…
Resting on the 4-layer #SAKHuntsman which has it all and the saw and scissors..
My #SAKTinker in the office has the Philips head driver (much more useful) instead of the now-useless corkscrew. Still has a pin...
Think I will use the Spartan in the office..
A lovely surprise greeted me on the mat when I came home this afternoon; a package from America, and in it a card, an American stamp and a chocolate Swiss Army Knife :)
Thank you so much AGA~mum.
I have a lot of booklets to send out for IPSE and I found this firm: Swan Stamps of Torquay, which sells unused commemorative stamps at 80% of their face value. If you like stamps and are not pressed for time - like me - it's a great way of saving money on postage and your recipients get more interesting stamps on their mail. Also used commemorative stamps are worth much more than definitives when they are collected for charity.
Naturally, I'm cutting open the packet with my handy penknife 😀
A glass of Banks's bitter, brewed in my mother's home town, Wolverhampton. It's 3.8% and tastes good – but best of all it's only 90 pence a bottle in Tesco. My Swiss Army Knife has a tool for removing beer bottle tops😀

I crashed Fred the Rapper's party about half an hour ago and found him in this pose. Fred had lost his corkscrew, so he took my Swiss army knife and attacked a bottle of champagne with it. He fought fiercely, but the cork just wouldn't budge... You'll just have to wait till midnight, Fred!

I used "Xanthous", which refers to a yellow colour, in 2018 – but there aren't many words beginning with X 😳
Natasha Caruana led a workshop for members of the Independent Photographers in the South-East group at Bolney today; it was excellent.
She gave each of us a word which we had to interpret in some way, we only had a short time in which to do it. She printed our images.
These objects were made in England, West Germany and Switzerland; I was interested in the coloured shadows.
I visited friends this afternoon, there are parking restrictions in their road so one has to display a visitors' permit.
The law on carrying knives in the UK is pretty strict. One is not permitted to carry, in a public place without good cause, a pointed or bladed implement other than a folding pocket knife, which cannot be locked open, with a blade length of three inches or less.
My Swiss Army Knife is fine, it cannot be locked open. The one underneath, which belonged to my late brother in law, is not as it can be locked open.
Having lost my SAK Explorer recently I was carrying my big Swiss Champ but it's really too heavy and bulky as a pocket knife. The Explorer seems to be the best compromise between weight and usefulness – though I would rather have a nail file instead of the small blade, as on the Wenger knives.
I got this one in yellow (which costs a bit more) from the Swiss Tool Company – ordered Sunday, arrived Tuesday :)
I soon removed the key ring, which I find a nuisance when using the knife, and added the little screwdriver which I bought recently. I also added a pin for which there is a hole in the scale next to the corkscrew.

This is the toothpick on the Swiss Champ knife. It’s really too heavy to carry in one’s pocket. I bought it several years ago because it was on special offer.

I'm collecting up the things to put in my trouser pockets for the day.
Left front pocket: purse (with coins, pencil and memory stick), knife, keys, handkerchief
Right front pocket: wallet, iPhone 4
Right back pocket: paper hankies
Left back pocket: Pocket Filofax with pen

A friend gave me this Victorinox knife sharpener which is just what I need :)
The pack needs opening so what else would I use to do the job?
I've just had a delivery of a dozen bottles of white wine, it was such a bargain I couldn't resist it – there'll be space in my wine rack for some of the bottles.
While I was taking this photo I saw that a screw was not fully done up – so I got out my handy penknife to fix it.
The twisting movement of pencil sharpeners tends to break the lead. This is especially true of coloured pencils so I always use a knife.

The Parker Sonnet fountain pen which I use to write in my diary has picked up a tiny hair making the writing smudgy. I am examining it with the magnifying glass on my Swiss Army Knife and removing the hair with the SAK tweezers.
At the stamp club, a fellow member asked if anyone had a magnifying glass to check the date on this French stamp – naturally, I did and looked at it. The date, 1982, is printed in the top right corner. (Sadly it was too awkward to hold the stamps, the knife and my iPhone over the tiny writing.)
My new Victorinox Alox Classic Swiss Army Knife. The silver alox (aluminum oxide) scales with the red shield are gorgeous.
Stumbled across Everyday Carry and was inspired to do a quick and dirty shot with just what was on me. Today that happens to be my bare bones minimum carry.

This is a genuine Victorinox Swiss Army Knife.
Let me get my lying straight…I have owned this knife for almost four decades…for around 40 years this knife has been my faithful friend and companion. It is one of the most useful tools I own, and I am never without it (or one of its same-brand cohorts).
I have abused the hell out of this knife. It has been used as a makeshift hammer. I have used the screwdrivers in a manner in which I shouldn’t to pry things that I shouldn’t have, even spreading the knife slightly apart at one point! (It sprang right back together, as tight as ever!)
It has been my ever-ready tool when I saw a loose screw on the door hinge, when my hands/fingers hurt too bad to remove a bottle cap, to slice open envelopes, cut rope and wire, strip wire, open boxes, punch holes through leather…I can’t even begin to tell you the myriad ways in which this knife has served and helped me over the years…and still does: Victorinox means quality!
At one point, being the only blade I had on me at the time, it even defended my life from a would-be nighttime attacker who quickly backed down when he saw the glint of the blade in the light.
It’s often used lately to open cans…for some reason we go through can openers like tissues, and I usually go to open up a can of something only to discover that I just put the one remaining can opener in the dishwasher and started the cycle! Crap! What to do? Well, the old Swiss Army Knife works like a charm…zips those cans right open quickly and efficiently!
I sharpen all of my knives by hand, myself, and I can usually get a blade a lot sharper than the factory edge, even if the factory edge is a good one. This knife, after 40 years, will still come to a razor sharpness.
This knife will obviously outlive me even with much more abuse heaped upon it; my only concern is who to leave it to who will continue to use it, respect it, and cherish it as much as I have, and as much as I do.

Inside a small (about 3x4) pouch:
- Gerber led light
- Signaling mirror
- Q-Tips to clean wounds
- Purell hand disinfectant
- Neosporin Pain
- Silva compass with thermometer
- Neosporin LT
- Band-Aids, two sizes
- Small SAK
- REI whistle
I made this little kit to carry on my person at all time, thought one might wonder where in the city I'll need a signaling mirror...
Having shaved I found that the plug was firmly wedged in the plug-hole and that I couldn't pull it out with my fingers. Happily the hook attachment on my Swiss Army Knife was just the thing to pull it out. I have only rarely used this blade.
My keychain. It's got 2 flashlights (the Photon and Arc AAA), a Traser Glowring that will glow in the dark for 10 years (it's, um, radioactive), a Swiss Army Rally knife (with a bottle opener, phillips screwdriver, regular screwdriver, nail file, tweezers & toothpick -- oh, and a knife of course), capsule with some cash and Pepsid antacids, a Spyderco Ladybug knife, and a safety pin.
It's all held together by a flat wire gate mini-carabiner.
There's also an NYC subway token, which you can't really see.
Incidentally, I edited the cuts on the house key, so don't go trying to dupe it from the picture. Actually, it's practically a bump key in this photo.
I saw a worm on the pavement, it would have had a long struggle ahead of it, so I lifted it with my penknife and tossed it onto the grass.

A razor strop or simply a strop (sometimes called a razor strap or strap) is a flexible strip of leather, canvas, denim fabric, balsa wood, or other soft material, used to straighten and polish the blade of a straight razor, a knife, or a woodworking tool such as a chisel. In many cases stropping re-aligns parts of the blade edge that have been bent out of alignment. In other cases, especially when abrasive polishing compound is used, stropping may remove a small amount of metal (functionally equivalent to lapping). Stropping can also burnish (i.e. push metal around on the blade…

I bought this for my girlfriend. She has a cheaply made Chinese "Swiss Army" style knife and I figured I would get her a genuine one. I made sure to get one with a corkscrew. Made in Switzerland.
