Let's keep those fingers intact.

...is the aroma of Swiss Walnut in the morning, topped with a glaze of aged mineral oil.

Shown here is a Victorinox Evo Wood, or Evolution Wood 81 along with a walnut scaled Huntsman. Both looked so dull and lackluster before applying the mineral oil. Wow! What a difference, particularly after a second light application the following day.

I'm presently pondering jigging the scales of the Huntsman.

Disclaimer: I don't know if these are of "Swiss" walnut or simply "European" walnut, as I've also heard. Either way, it certainly is some good looking walnut.

It started off a bit on the (relatively) chilly side, at 17°C, but got very much warmer so by the time we got to Bicester to look after our granddaughters, it was about 24°C. We were all excited to explore the completely re-vamped playground near their house - it's awesome! We had a great time playing on the equipment, then another child, Sadie, joined us for a scavenger hunt - first sticks, then stones, feathers and leaves. Then we made it into an eagle's nest. We had a fun time chasing around being eagles, then Sadie had to go, and gave the girls hugs before she left - so cute.

After lunch, the girls and I made a spa out in the garden (Little Miss's idea), in the shade - although what any of us knows about spas...??? It was quite relaxing, though, as we washed our feet, 'painted' each others' nails (with water) and gave each other henna decorations (water, again, of course!). There was also a reading corner, and a hair brushing area. Oh, and at one point, Smaller Miss noticed a little thorn in her finger, and sat so still and calm while I got it out. I had to use the magnifying glass on my SAK, but also a safety pin from my 'emergency tin' in my bumbag to tear back a bit of skin, and then the tweezers, to get the thorn out.

After that we played some Orchard Toys games, and before long it was time for us to go, and for the girls to have their evening meal. Another fun day! We had a quick tuna salad meal at home, then I enjoyed a walk in the cooler evening temperatures.

I like this wine for the obvious reasons. Also it is tasty.

Also it had been a while since I made something float in midair for no good reason.

Also part of my final project for my creative advertisement class. I had to make a spec book to go along with my poster using all the available faces of Glypha.

Trying out different knife closing techniques.

We didn't need to be in Bicester until lunch time, so this morning I cycled to Fairford to re-new my library ticket - this has to be done every three years. I don't use tehe library much at the moment, but plan to, once I have got through my stack of books awaiting reading!

We had a fun time with Smaller Miss - I'd taken an activity book, which had several things she could do and which she enjoyed. She always loves using my SAK to cut things! Later on, we walked to collect Little Miss from school, and stopped off at a bookshop on the way, so that Mike could choose some books to spend his Father's Day tokens on. There was a play house in the children's section, which the girls enjoyed, but they had even more fun with the Silly Putty which I carry around in my little backpack for such occasions.

On the way home, Mike & I called in at a pub/restaurant to book his 75th birthday meal for the family, for October. Good to get something sorted!

It was drizzly almost all day - the great Scottish word 'dreich' describes it well! We actually put our heating on this evening.

After breakfast, I cycled into Fairford (still delighting in all my gears!) to drop off someone's prescription. Then I went to Cirencester (in the car) to buy some things I needed for Liz's house security. While out in the wet, I slipped on a smooth paving slab and ended up on my back. I don’t think I damaged anything, but was pleased to learn that the fall sensor on my Apple Watch worked - I had to tap the watch to stop it from dialling for help 😆

Then it was on to Melksham to get some lunch, before going to Liz's. I couldn't do the work I'd planned straightway because the night carer was sleeping, so I spent a bit of time with Liz, then went off to look at two care homes, with varying success. Back at Liz's later, I did the jobs, and eventually got home at 7pm.
