You´re on your own, kid, is the 5th track on Midnights. We swifties know that always track 5 is really deep and emotional (coming from different past albmus) and this song is no exception. "You´re on your own, kid" describes a girl waiting for a boy to notice her, but she eventually gets tired of waiting and runs away to play songs. When she finally achieves fame and fortune, however, she realizes she’s still on her own. The song ends on a rather comforting note, however: You may be on your own, but you always have been, so there’s nothing to be afraid of.

When unpacking and admiring my D&D minifigures (just one set, even though the picture might trick you into thinking that I have doubles), I thought it should be cool to show a DnD party in the midst of some action, and when I saw a bard I just thought - what if she's a Swiftie? :)
Well, there is a bardcore YouTuber Hildegard von Blingin, who covered a lot of songs in Medieval style and archaic language, including "Willow" by Taylor Swift, so it's actually easy to imagine something like that, especially considering she has a lot of fantasy/historical-coded songs on certain albums. But! I was thinking about what these minifigures want to do, and I realised that it would be hilarious if instead of barging in and killing the villains and guests Kill Bill-style or Red Wedding-style, the party will use famous "speak now, or forever hold your peace" trope, because the bard knows a song exactly for that occasion! xD
Wait, does Betty's character even know the NPC in question? Funny that you're asking, because no one ever (except me and Elsa!) questions Disney movies, where characters used to get married after knowing each other for less than 48 hours or so! Therefore, the stupid rule of Disney allows that, I don't even make that up. xD
I was going to build a scene like a comparison shot between a scene from characters' POV and a scene from players' POV, and split it diagonally, but then I saw a scene-inside-a-scene on the picture by captain_j03, and I realised that by that trick I could show more than just a half of both scenes, which is super helpful, cause I put a lot of detail in the game table and in the guests (and some easter eggs for Swifties), and I wanted to show as much as possible. :)
I was supposed to post it a week earlier to celebrate the end of The Eras Tour, but the original tribute, which I planned in the summer, couldn't be made in time, because I still didn't bought something I need for it (I was going to in the end of the summer - but bad news made me postpone all shopping plans), so I decided to post this scene instead, even though it was a completely separate idea, but this scene is too big, and I'm too busy, so I couldn't finish it when I wanted. Well, it took some time, but now I'm very happy with the result, I hope you'll like it too! :)

I have found a fallen Swift. He had injured belly. The local vetcare refused to provide any help. I took him home, treated the wound and put in a quiet place. Later i gave him a water. The bird was weak and sleepy or dormant, this way they survive stress and painful shock. In hands he behaved calmly. He has healthy strong wings, 16cm long, it means that he's a grown juvenile that can fly. He has big expressive eyes with blue eyelids, with closed eyes he looks like a pilot in goggles. What i want to note, that his feathers are airy and softer than silk, the skin is very thin, the beak is soft and he's all so fragile - a truly heavenly creature! Next morning he was active, the wound healed well, he wanted to fly away. I couldn't hold him any longer, because almost all our local swifts already migrated. But there were still a few individuals in the sky. So i didn't delay. I let him go, he made a circle near my window and flew away.

Based on this woman's position in the center of the group, she is clearly the queen bee. The queen bee is responsible for being outspoken and having the most entertaining stories of the group and she also dictates group plans. It's not an easy job being the queen bee, but someone's gotta do it.

It's time to make a tribute to Linkin Park! :) Another song from my childhood, obviously I could not understand the lyrics back then because my English was extremely bad, and also because this is a song about complicated topic, the one people would say "you will get this in twenty years".
But being a Swiftie makes me look for a deeper meaning in lyrics (thanks, Taylor), so I tried to look beyond the interpretation on genius dot com, which says the song is about failed expectations of others (usually parents). And I noticed that if you look on chorus only (without verses and pre-chorus), then it really sounds more like someone who started to treat people like he was treated and hates it, because he literally became what he fought.
I thought this is a more interesting point of view, because when you were abused for a long time it's really hard to NOT treat people the same way, especially when you don't know any alternative ways of dealing with people.
So that's why I've got an idea of a very proud shadow of some Evil Queen (not the one from Once Upon a Time!) of some Land of Oz or somewhat similar kingdom, who turned her successor into mini-version of herself. I hope that the image expresses my perception of the chorus of the song.

Passing the former Illinois Central depot in downtown, the Saltillo Turn starts their windy path through West Point on a perfect winter afternoon. That former mill in the background is apparently now a office building with storage spaces, although with a name like Swift Center my Swiftie girlfriend would argue it has something to do with Taylor haha.

Doll of the year: Verity (Day Tripper OOAK)
For me this 2022 was pretty poor in doll pictures, but I think one of my dolls stood out.
Verity was one of the very few dolls who had the 'honour' of being redressed more than twice, being brought outdoors and endlessly combed. Since 2017, when her new life as a rerooted Day Tripper Poppy started, her freckled face and red and luscious hair never failed to bring me comfort and a smile, even in tumoultous times.
Favourite Picture: George and Myrtle at the Jupiter's Bar.
George and Myrtle's relationship is quite the complicated one, but I won't discuss the whys and the hows here. After all, this is just a small place to showcase some pretty doll pics!
However, I was particularly happy to have been able to portray their troubled but intense connection in this little photoshoot set at the Jupiter's Bar, a quite important place in my Dollyverse, where Judith (Wild At Heart Lilith) works as a waitress and where many events took place for many of my dolls.
Will this romance fully take off in 2023?
I have no idea, but dolly-dreams don't cost a thing :)

I am aware this Rayna is a very beloved doll in the community, as well as a very rare and precious one, so I solemny swear I have been nothing but careful and caring with her and she didn't risk her dolly life among the waves 😁
Favourite Casual Shot: Cozy Savannah
Savannah (Beach Babe Poppy) is the latest addiction to my Integrity family. Compared to the majority of my dolls, she has been an impulse buy. She still doesn't have a fully formed character/a story to tell, but I am sure she will reveal herself sometime soon as she is already becoming one of my most beloved photography subjects.
She feels just so effortless in any picture, especially the more casual and not planned shots like this one.

This picture was fun to make. I tried to replicate a frame of Taylor Swift's Anti-Hero video and I think I did fine.
It's far from perfect, of course, but I had fun and that's the only thing that should count.
Jewel (Simply Simpatico Poppy) had been a Swiftie for longer than me, so she was particularly happy to engage in this photo replica.

Well, honestly I think it's one of her best songs. Taylor Swift is a genius, she always very attentive to details, and she puts easter eggs everywhere. I think she's a pure example of creativity every creative person should aspire to, and her way of writing her emotions in the songs, basing them on certain situations and people in her life, is something that is very close to me (I'm actually doing the same for a couple of years already, just in the pictures, not in the songs). I already did a tribute to her when I was angry because of certain people, and I trolled them with it. It was awesome. :D
I would really like to see what her music video for this song would be, because the lyrics are truly cinematographic, and her videos are very thoughtfully made. I just recently seen the music video for "Blank Space", and wow, she's so incredibly hilarious when she starts to abuse the guy, I can watch the sequence again and again on repeat, because it's sooo good. Can we please see gangster Swift now? :D Well, I hope when she will re-release "reputation" as Taylor Version album (now that she's own the label and rights) like she did with other albums we'll finally get to ride in a getaway car as a single song with music video. ;)
I'm also equally amazed by her fanbase, so dedicated to search for every easter egg, so imaginational in creating theories based on tiny bits of facts like real detectives! Someone said, if you're lost, ask a Swiftie to find a way, but I say, that I would rather like to play a Mafia game with them, because I swear they would be a nightmare dressed like a daydream. ;)

So, to sum up this weird link between my Simply Simpatico Poppy, Jewel...and Taylor Swift.
Back in 2012/2013 I started building Jewel's character.
Among other (more important) things, she emerged to be a huge Swiftie.
The funny thing is that I didn't listen to Taylor Swift back then, but Jewel did.
I thought she fitted perfectly with her stubborn girl-next-door personality.
As for Taylor, I didn't love her but I didn't hate her either.
I thought she was cute, made pretty country-pop songs, I appreciated her songwriting because she was telling her story through her music and I thought the way some media and public perceived her was quite irritating.
Did she date too much? Was she too petty in her break up songs? Maybe, but art is art and she was just making her own art with her songs. Years later I personally approached Taylor's music with folklore and evermore. I found my own link to her in these projects. I love pop music too, but I like 'brainy' stuff a bit more. And the tales of the FolkMore universe were speaking to me (speak now🎵haha) more than anything Taylor had ever put out.
Except All too well. I still remember watching that Grammy performance and thinking "I wish she made more songs like this one" and thankfully she did with folkore and evermore :P
Anyways, the 10 minute version of All Too Well became very important in Jewel's world-building too.
When Midnights came out, thought, the coincidences started...coinciDancing (I love this stupid pun, don't judge me 😁).
Jewel's name was literally in a song (Bejeweled) and her love interest (coming soon :P) was perfectly depicted in another song (Maroon) as if Jewel's whispered the lyrics in Taylor's ear.
I wish I could say more about this one because there is a crazy amount of details to unpack, but It's all still in the works. Let's just say that this love interest is travelling towards her now 😇
Then when the Bejeweled video came out I remember a 2012 picture of Jewel who was dressed up in the exact same colours of one of her looks in the video, and now...this coat?

While attending my Grandaughter performing in a student -produced show of Taylor Swift songs at the Brooklyn Acting Lab this Friday afternoon, I noticed that some of the props included words of some Swiftie tunes that struck a chord in my contemplation of what the h*ll to do for Flickr Friday's theme of, "The Scarlet Letter."
After the performance, I took some shots and later edited them into one photo over a blurred background that depicted some similarities between the novel and the lyrics.
In Taylor Swift's lyrics, the words "Red," "Reputation," and "Lover" explore themes of passion, public perception, and intimate relationships, paralleling similar themes in Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The Scarlet Letter."
In her song "Red," the color symbolizes intense emotions and love's complexity, mirroring how the scarlet letter "A" in Hawthorne's novel represents both Hester Prynne's sin and the passionate affair that led to it. The vibrant symbolism of red in both contexts conveys a deep emotional resonance, capturing the dual nature of love as both beautiful and painful.
"Reputation", particularly in Swift's album of the same name delves into the impact of public scrutiny and the struggle to maintain one's identity amidst societal judgment. This theme aligns closely with Hawthorne's depiction of Hester Prynne, whose reputation is shattered by her adulterous act, leading to her ostracization. Both Swift and Hawthorne illustrate how reputation can shape an individual's life, highlighting the tension between personal truth and public perception.
Lastly, the word "Lover" in Swift's song of the same name celebrates the deep connection and commitment between partners, albeit forbidden, love between Hester and Dimmesdale.
