The 2012 Father Daughter Dance was a "Knight to Remember" thanks to Chevrolet of Fairbanks, Alaska USA Federal Credity Union, TriWest Healthcare Alliance and the many other sponsors who made this event possible. Thanks to our volunteer committee for investing hundreds of hours into this event celebrating and strengthening the Faughter-Daughter bond!
That's right. I hate it. You are like that kid at school whose parents gave him money for french fries (freedom fries!) and that's some bullshit right there, so you can go to hell and so can your damn freedom fries.
Anyway I express that hatred by using red white and blue dishtowels and by imagining Hugo Chavez naked.

1st Sgt. Miguel Antia, senior enlisted member, Headquarters and HeadquartersTroop, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, visited the Freedom Monument in Riga, Latvia March 25, 2015. Col. Martin Liberts, Commander, Latvian National Armed Forces, invited Antia to attend a memorial ceremony honoring the thousands of people deported to Siberia by occupying Soviet forces in 1949. Approximately 42,000 Latvians were deported on March 25, 1949 alone and the date is now designated as Communist Genocide Memorial Day, with flowers laid at the monument and many of the rail points used for the deportations. Flags are also flown at half-mast to honor the vicitms. Andris Berzins, President of Latvia, was in attendance to give a brief speech and lay flowers."Today, commemorating the victims and honoring those who survived, we must remember that the greatest crime is to deny a person humanity. May this day and commemoration be a clear warning to all those who are still trying to occupy free and independent states,” said Berzins.Antias’ and other U.S. service members’ presence at the event exemplifies the strong partnership between NATO nations and lasting commitment. Artist's Statement:
I stole these yellow ribbon magnets from the backs of vehicles in parking lots across Phoenix, AZ, where they are plentiful. I found an unsurprising correlation between the size of the vehicle and the number of ribbons on the bumper. While I believe theft is wrong, I believe the advocation of state-sanctioned violence is much worse. After scanning these magnets, many of them very decayed, I destroy them.
Some may say that supporting the troops is not the same as supporting war. This is very wrongful thinking to me. I have met many soldiers in my lifetime and they are generally decent people, but there is not a draft in America. The War on Terror is not a war of self-defense, but of aggression, nationalism and fear. Therefore, it is a choice to go overseas and demolish men, women, children, houses, farms, entire cities even. I believe supporting the troops is a very evil idea, even if their job is not enviable, even if their murderous rampages does not always make them terrible people at home. It is so strange and dark how ripping children apart with machine guns does not entirely disable one to love their own children.
That leads me to my next point: Why these ribbons are magnetic. They are purposefully easy to remove so that if public opinion were to suddenly and overwhelmingly change, the drivers of gas-guzzling SUVs could avoid scrutiny. Otherwise, why don't the majority of magnet consumers opt for adhesive?
All I am doing is taking the initiative. For every ribbon I remove, that is one less bigoted, hateful, war-mongering driver you will see in traffic. Perhaps, if you see one of these magnets yourself, you would do the rest of the world a favor and remove it.
Note: the one's that are non-war related accidentally got mixed up in this. I kept them because they're interesting.

The obligatory post-September thing ribbon. Seems a little exclusive to me, not to mention short-sighted considering how interconnected our global economy is.
