Recon Troopers from 3d Squadron, 2d Calvary Regiment joined Latvian and Canadian recon teams for a water infiltration exercise near Adazi Military Base, Latvia, March 30, 2015. The Soldiers practiced ways to infiltrate enemy positions via watercraft and maneuver onto land behind enemy lines to call for fire upon a designated target. The exercise, part of Operation Summer Shield XII, involved multiple joint military assets and an immense strategic planning effort. OSS XII is a 10-day evolving training process during which partner forces from the U.S., Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Germany, Canada and the United Kingdom work alongside one another in combined arms and live-fire maneuvers. Please love and support our veterans, of all wars!

Ourselves.

What many people fail to realize, is that those "massive numbers on gun violence and gun deaths charts" are inaccurate. Why? Well, suicides and gang related shootings make up a majority of those statistics. And as soon as I find that CNN chart (CNN is known for being quite left-leaning) to back that up I will, but I'm running short on time. Gangbangers don't follow legislation on anything let alone gun laws. So more gun control will only affect law. Abiding. Citizens. Now, suicide is a very touchy subject, and I don't want to dig too deeply into this subject, because I could offend a lot of people, which is most certainly not my goal. I know people who've lost loved ones to suicide and it's an awful awful tragedy. Nobody should ever feel self-destruction is their only way out of their suffering. I urge anyone who suspects a loved one or even themselves to be suicidal to find professional help. But to say it's "gun violence" or "the gun killed this person" is wrong. The person chose to end their own life, and the firearm just happened to be the method of going about their self-destruction. Again, my highest sympathies to those who've lost a loved one to suicide. It's a tragic, unnecessary, awful thing that should never happen and I mean that in the most sincere way I can. I support our troops to the fullest, and a lot of these guys coming back have PTSD and other injuries that change their lives overwhelmingly. Normally these vets own firearms, and sometimes, some vets, find suicide is their only way out because we have a government that won't help these heroes that have served to protect us. So my deepest condolences to all, especially those families whose loved one had served and payed the heaviest of prices in the name of Freedom.

But gun control legislation will not help.

Recon Troopers from 3d Squadron, 2d Calvary Regiment join Latvian and Canadian recon teams for weapon familiarization training during Operation Summer Shield XII at Adazi Military Base, Latvia, March 26, 2015. Soldiers fired at pop-up targets throughout the 1100-meter range, familiarizing themselves with efficient operating techniques of sniper rifles, assault rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers, and pistols during the range day. Familiarization and cross platform training on joint weapon systems is crucial to maintaining a high level of interoperability between NATO member nations. 1st Sgt. Miguel Antia, senior enlisted member, Headquarters and HeadquartersTroop, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, visited the Freedom Monument in Riga, Latvia March 25, 2015. Col. Martin Liberts, Commander, Latvian National Armed Forces, invited Antia to attend a memorial ceremony honoring the thousands of people deported to Siberia by occupying Soviet forces in 1949. Approximately 42,000 Latvians were deported on March 25, 1949 alone and the date is now designated as Communist Genocide Memorial Day, with flowers laid at the monument and many of the rail points used for the deportations. Flags are also flown at half-mast to honor the vicitms. Andris Berzins, President of Latvia, was in attendance to give a brief speech and lay flowers."Today, commemorating the victims and honoring those who survived, we must remember that the greatest crime is to deny a person humanity. May this day and commemoration be a clear warning to all those who are still trying to occupy free and independent states,” said Berzins.Antias’ and other U.S. service members’ presence at the event exemplifies the strong partnership between NATO nations and lasting commitment.
