Support Our Troops Ribbon

333 tabs

20 1/2”H x 13 1/2”W

Comments welcomed!

I'm all about autism awareness, but I'm rather puzzled by the need for a magnetic faux ribbon about it. (That pun was completely unintentional at first!)

But what is there to be aware of? That autism exists? Thank goodness these magnets don't exist for every single ailment known to humankind.

A US army veteran holds up his sign, and his Military ID card as proof, as he begs from commuters in the middle of the rush hour LA traffic.

Strange! Who is this directed at? Anarchists? Who doesn't support the enforcement of laws?

Apparently it is popular to support both "our troops" and breast cancer research simultaneously. Despite the odd juxtaposition (one having to do with killing people, the other having to do with keeping people alive), I imagine there is a great under wire bra jingle in there somewhere. You know, having to do with "support".

As his mom prepared to board a flight that would eventually see her in Iraq, her son ran for one last hug. Please View Large

Sharing the sacrifice of our military -- and their loved-ones -- as they prepare for their eventual deployment to Iraq. Their assignment is in support of exiting the country. I had the good fortune to share their departure with their families; I tried in photos to convey the emotional event, while preserving their privacy.

Whenever you see someone protesting or an editorial or a documentary film, remember that our troops exist for the right of all of these activities to occur.

As we say, If you don't want to stand behind ours troops, feel free to stand in front of them.

PHOTO by Petty Officer 2nd Class Steven L. Shepard. Twenty Sailors from the Center for Information Dominance Detachment Monterey assisted Operation Care and Comfort at the October 30 San Jose Sharks 'Support Our Troops' game day. Operation Care and Comfort collected cash and goods to support its effort to send holiday care packages overseas to our deployed troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The 131st Canadian soldier to die in Afghanistan was killed yesterday. Private Jonathan Couturier was a member of the 2nd Battalian of the Royal 22nd Regiment. They are based in Val Cartier, Quebec and affectionately nick-named the Vandoos. (From a badly pronounced - read Anglophone - translation of the French word for 22.)

It's the second one this week. It's those f***king roadside bombs.

I read in the paper that Jonathan loved hockey and his Ford Mustang.
