I stole these yellow ribbon magnets from the backs of vehicles in parking lots across Phoenix, AZ, where they are plentiful. I found an unsurprising correlation between the size of the vehicle and the number of ribbons on the bumper. While I believe theft is wrong, I believe the advocation of state-sanctioned violence is much worse. After scanning these magnets, many of them very decayed, I destroy them.

Some may say that supporting the troops is not the same as supporting war. This is very wrongful thinking to me. I have met many soldiers in my lifetime and they are generally decent people, but there is not a draft in America. The War on Terror is not a war of self-defense, but of aggression, nationalism and fear. Therefore, it is a choice to go overseas and demolish men, women, children, houses, farms, entire cities even. I believe supporting the troops is a very evil idea, even if their job is not enviable, even if their murderous rampages does not always make them terrible people at home. It is so strange and dark how ripping children apart with machine guns does not entirely disable one to love their own children.

That leads me to my next point: Why these ribbons are magnetic. They are purposefully easy to remove so that if public opinion were to suddenly and overwhelmingly change, the drivers of gas-guzzling SUVs could avoid scrutiny. Otherwise, why don't the majority of magnet consumers opt for adhesive?

All I am doing is taking the initiative. For every ribbon I remove, that is one less bigoted, hateful, war-mongering driver you will see in traffic. Perhaps, if you see one of these magnets yourself, you would do the rest of the world a favor and remove it.

I've seen ribbons with this phrase before, but I don't believe I've seen that logo in the middle. Interesting use of the space, I suppose.

I rather like the saluting silhouette. In fact, I find the whole ribbon rather classy, perhaps more so because it's so tattered.

DUP MLA Lord Wallace Browne was amongst those who made their way to Stormont to present the petition.

Hardee's ® helped the USO of Missouri to welcome over 4,000 military personnel from Fort Leonard Wood as they passed through Lambert St. Louis International Airport on their way home for the holidays. Holiday Block Leave, the day when military installations release their personnel for the holidays. We were also thrilled to be able to present the USO of Missouri with a check for $10,000. The grant came from chain's 2011 Stars for Troops fundraising efforts.

Many of the magnetic ribbons I am encountering these days are specific to a particular event and a year. Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, or in this case, Veteran's Day 2007.

Thinking of Daddy today and always - glad this deployment is going quickly.

Recon troopers from 3rd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment joined Latvian and Canadian recon teams for a water infiltration exercise near Adazi Military Base, Latvia, March 30, 2015. The Soldiers practiced ways to infiltrate enemy positions via watercraft and maneuver onto land behind enemy lines to call for fire upon a designated target. The exercise, part of Operation Summer Shield XII, involved multiple joint military assets and an immense strategic planning effort. I'm told this is a catch phrase from Jeff Foxworthy's Blue Collar Comedy show. SERIOUSLY.

Did you see this faux-ribbon? I almost didn't IT BLENDED RIGHT IN.

Now the sun's gone to hell

And the moon riding high

Let me bid you farewell

Every man has to die

But it's written in the starlight

And every line in your palm

We're fools to make war

On our brothers in arms

Looking out from under the shady trellis, a fountain sits, parched in the hot sunlight. NJVVM is a not-for-profit, it's probably too costly to run the fountain.

Please love and support our veterans, of all wars!

At least this one has a proper subject in the sentence!

The 2012 Father Daughter Dance was a "Knight to Remember" thanks to Chevrolet of Fairbanks, Alaska USA Federal Credity Union, TriWest Healthcare Alliance and the many other sponsors who made this event possible.
