National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from the D.C.-based 33rd Civil Support Team and the Fort Pickett-based 34th Civil Support Team trained together April 7, 2015, at the Fairfax County Urban Search and Rescue Training Site, Lorton, Va. The two-day exercise brought together the two teams as well as firefighters from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. Both units can identify chemical, biological, and radiological substances, assess current and projected consequences, advise an incident commander on response measures, and assist with requests for additional state support. The CSTs are federally resourced, trained and sustained and operates under the control of state leadership. The Adjutant General of each state or territory may employ the CST to support the state response under the direction of the governor or to support another state’s response under a supported governor. ACATLAN DE JUAREZ, JALISCO, MEXICO - JULY 07: The mass death of thousands of fish in the dam El Hurtado, left without a livelihood to about 30 fishermen and 19 restaurant owners, as well as their families, so that most continue shops still closed due to the strong odor coming from the dam is a serious source of infection for visitors usually arrived, on Sunday July 7, 2013, in the municipality of Acatlan de Juarez, in the western state of Jalisco, Mexico. The economic impact of the spill molasses left the dam El Hurtado, and caused the death of at least 500 tons of fish (mainly tilapia, catfish and crappie) in the community of San Pedro Valencia in Acatlan de Juarez, home about 380 people, will also be reflected in the activity that encourages tourism and fishing in the area. According to environmental authorities at least 8,000 tonnes of molasses would have reached the dam El Hurtado, after traveling more than 12 kilometers through a flow, from the town of Tlajomulco de Zuniga to Acatlan de Juarez. Experts say environmental issues more than two million liters of water with the dam which currently can recover lost oxygen over a period longer than two years, so that this natural disaster is one of the biggest ecocide in Jalisco history. Authorities of the three levels of government work hand in hand with dozens of volunteers to support families affected by the delivery of provisions, food preparation and sanitary brigades to prevent the spread of disease and reduce both the strong impact of the tragedy among the population. Ridgeway College students joined student protesters around the world to protest for Climate Change Action. Children outside the school spoke to the public about the Climate Change crisis and that their very futures are at risk. They gathered over 150 signatures and in turn spoke to more than 300 people about Climate Change.

Latimer Hinks Solicitors joined other local businesses to compete in St Teresa’s Hospice’s It’s a Knockout fun-filled fundraiser and raised an impressive £545.
Latimer Hinks’ team name is “Hel’s Angels” in honour of a much loved colleague and friend, Helen Thomas, who received support from the hospice prior to passing away from cancer in July 2016, aged 33.
The event was held at Darlington’s Blackwell Meadows on Sunday 16th July and set corporate teams from across the area against each other on a challenging assault course inspired by the famous television show.
The Darlington-based legal firm is raising the money as part of its 125th anniversary pledge to raise £10,000 for the hospice, which will culminate in a charity ball in November. So far it is more than halfway towards its total.
Natalie Palmer, Director at Latimer Hinks and member of Hel’s Angels, said of the light-hearted competition: “The day was all about having fun with other local businesses who, like us, care about the services St Teresa’s provides for the local community.
“It was gorgeous weather and we were delighted to win one game, although we did eventually finish last! All the teams competed in good spirits and for a wonderful cause; an opportunity to raise money and have fun at the same time. By continually raising money for this brilliant charity we feel we are doing something positive to remember our friend and colleague Helen.
“We are delighted to reach the halfway mark in our fundraising. It’s a Knockout was our 10thfundraising activity for St Teresa’s Hospice since January and we are eager to meet, and hopefully exceed our target to support the hospice and the remarkable work it does with those suffering from serious illnesses and their families. I know that Helen greatly appreciated the care she received and I’m sure she would be delighted to see us supporting the hospice.”

Two UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and 13 Soldiers assigned to a Lincoln-based Nebraska Army National Guard aviation unit mobilize, Sept. 13, 2018, in support of the Hurricane Florence relief operations after approval by Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts earlier in the day. The Company G, 2-104th General Support Aviation Battalion Soldiers departed from the Army Aviation Support Facility No. 1 in Lincoln and are expected to pre-stage in Tennessee until the hurricane makes landfall. Once weather permits, the crews will move into North Carolina to begin assisting in any needed relief operations. The helicopters and crews are equipped and trained to conduct search and rescue operations, as well as air movement missions. The petition in support for Ingrid Betancourt and the hostages held in Colombia and which now counts close to 600,000 signatures, was formally presented to French President Nicolas Sarkozy at the Elysée Palace in Paris on Monday the 1st of April. The Support Committee’s delegation was received by President Sarkozy for a half hour meeting. These photos were taken ouside the Elysée Palace.
Later that afternoon, Mr. Sarkozy made a formal televised address where he spoke directly to the FARC, calling for Ingrid’s release and stating that France and the International community are determined to do all they can to prevent her death. Ingrid’s son Lorenzo, has made an appeal for the world’s governments to rally together in order to save his mother and for citizens to make their voice heard by marching massively, in support of Ingrid and the other hostages, in marches across France on Sunday the 6th of April 2008. 02/04/2008: A French, Spanish and Swiss delegation has set-off to try and establish contact with the FARC in the Colombian jungle. This is a race against the clock to save Ingrid – time is limited and there is no guarantee at all that the FARC will answer favourably. Please come out and march or gather for Ingrid and all those held in Colombia.
