One of my dear friends is battling breast cancer right now, and so we at work have been trying to show our support and to cheer her up with her favorite things (which are the color purple and butterflies).
So, first we made her a mobile, where each person who wanted to made a butterfly, and I made the mobile and put everything together.
It was hanging in her cubicle while she went through chemo therapy, and she said it really helped through those nauseous days when she needed a bit more motivation.
Then her dog suddenly developed tumors and died, so we made her a butterfly with her dog's portrait, which went into her cubicle, as well.
Right before Lori's surgery, my supervisor had an idea, which I made into reality ^_^
I made a cocoon, with a butterfly (which my supervisor made) inside. And everyone who wanted to in the department wrote notes for our friend, which I folded and attached to the cocoon. Lori took it home to read the notes, but is not allowed to open the cocoon itself until she comes back (then the butterfly can come out).
This is the shot of everything on Lori's last day before her surgery. As I'm thinking of her, I decided to share this shot, so maybe if there is someone in your life who is going through something hard like this, it can give you an idea on cheering them up through little things like these.

Women Group – Star of Hope, Ghana
In Ghana Star of Hope is supporting around 20 nurseries and schools. In addition Star of Hope Ghana is supporting village development projects, one of them is in Osae Krodua.
In Osae Krodua the local women group received economical and other support to start a small agricultural project. From cassava the women produce gari, which is used for cooking. From harvesting the cassava until the final product reaches the local market, several steps are involved. The 40 women share workload and income.

Virginia National Guard Soldiers and Airmen provide support to a COVID-19 community vaccination clinic hosted by Prince William County Health District April 1, 2021, at the First Mount Zion Baptist Church in Dumfries, Virginia. During the clinic, VNG personnel helped administer vaccines and provided administrative and traffic management support. The VNG reconfigured the task force conducting COVID-19 testing and mask fit training to create mobile vaccination teams to provide additional capacity for the statewide vaccination program. The teams consist of Army and Air National Guard medics trained and certified by the Virginia Department of Health to administer the vaccines. Altamonte Springs, Fla. - More than 50 Army Reserve Soldiers from Mission Support Element, Headquaters & Headquarters Company, 143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), joined more than 1,000 participants in the Orlando Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk Sept. 9, 2018, at Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
The event honored New York City firefighter Stephen Siller who made the ultimate sacrifice during the 9/11 attacks. Carrying more than 60 pounds of firefighting equipment, Siller ran from Brooklyn Tunnel--closed as a security measure--to the World Trade Center where he laid his life to save the lives of others.
Siller's story inspired nearly half of the 143d ESC Soldiers to don ruck sacks and run alongside hundreds of first responders wearing their full gear.
One 143d ESC Soldier, Spc. Andy Meyreles, honored his civilian and military profession during the race. Serving as an Ammunition and Stock Control and Accounting Specialist, the Hialeah, Fla., native put on his Orange County Fire Rescue helmet, jacket and pants over his Army physical fitness uniform. Meyreles' choice of attire paid homage to all service members and first responders who follow Siller's legendary example.

We all know of those who battle this disease, have died, or have survived. My own grandma had it, had a masectomy, survived for years afterward. The cancer returned in the breastbone and that was her demise. It was terrible to know how she wasted away and suffered. Encourage your loved ones to have mammograms, learn to detect lumps, and be aware that this is curable in the early stages. We all want our beloved ones to be 'in the pink' of health!

In ancient Greek and Roman architecture, a peristyle is a continuous porch formed by a row of columns surrounding the perimeter of a building or a courtyard.
In rural settings, a wealthy Roman could surround a villa with terraced gardens; within the city, Romans created their gardens inside the domus. The peristylium was an open courtyard within the house. The columns or square pillars surrounding the garden supported a shady roofed portico whose inner walls were often embellished with elaborate wall paintings of landscapes and trompe-l'Å“il architecture.
I bought several maternity camisoles from the Gap that all had this "secret support" sticker on them. I was intrigued, since I wasn't aware that I was buying into some underground pregnant boob conspiracy. Truth be told, they're not that supportive, but they're soft and comfy.
While I was posing for the self timer on the camera, Rich asked if I was taking pictures of my boobs to post on the Internet. I explained that no, I was taking pictures of stickers about my boobs to post on the Internet, which is completely different.
History
In the early 19th century the Wetherill lead mine in Shannonville, PA (later renamed Audubon in honor of a famous former resident) provided lead for the production of paint. By the 1840s additional copper mining efforts opened a total of nine shafts including the New Perkiomen Mine, Whim Shaft, and the Ecton Mine. These veins were so promising that copper miners were imported from Cornwall, England to support the effort. Production diminished during the following decade culminating in the failure of the enterprise before the Civil War. All that remains above ground are scattered foundations, the smokestack from a facility that pumped water out of the mines, and a curious set of rails over the mine run stream.
