ORLANDO, Fla. – Dozens of Soldiers from the 143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) joined members of veteran services organizations to honor the families of fallen heroes during the 6th Annual Operation: Love Letters event conducted March 24, 2018, at St. John Vianney Catholic School in Orlando.
Hosted by the Orlando Survivor Outreach Services, a U.S. Army community support program dedicated to helping families cope with grief from losing loved ones who have served their country. Operation: Love Letters provides a forum of fellowship for family members to share their memories of the deceased through food, games, music, arts and crafts. Conceived in Orlando in 2013, this local activity has transformed into a U.S. Army sponsored flagship program for the entire nation with international reach.
The event commenced with full military honors as the 143d ESC’s color guard and the Patriot Riders Guard led the opening ceremony in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Star-Spangled Banner. The color guard then set up a Fallen Comrade table and conducted a “13 Folds” ceremony to honor all American service members who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Miles Espaillat, the youngest of three sons of Maj. Gen. Francisco Espaillat, lit the candle on the Fallen Comrade Table. Espaillat’s father served as the commanding general of the 143d ESC from 2014-2016. He died of a heart attack April 7, 2017, while serving as general officer for the Office of the Chief of the Army Reserve.
After the opening ceremony, the family members shared their most cherished memories of their son, daughter, parent or spouse. Some brought framed photos while others baked their loved ones’ favorite dessert. The 143d ESC Soldiers joined several family members in creating crafts and writing love letters.
Representatives from the USO, Veterans Affairs, Operation Military Matters and the Orlando Vet Center also attended the festivities to share the many free resources such as grief counseling, care packages, and financial assistance tailored to families coping with the loss of a loved one.
Operation: Love Letters concluded with its most cherished tradition as Soldiers, families and volunteers gathered at the school’s courtyard to release dozens of balloons with messages addressed to their fallen heroes.

By improving the management system, curriculum and training courses of the vocational school under this project, UNDP aims to increase the competitiveness in Azerbaijan’s touristic industry.

At 333 meters (1,091 ft), it is the tallest self-supporting steel structure in the world and the tallest artificial structure in Japan. The structure is an Eiffel Tower-inspired lattice tower that is painted white and international orange to comply with air safety regulations.
Built in 1958, the tower's main sources of revenue are tourism and antenna leasing. Over 150 million people have visited the tower since its opening. FootTown, a 4-story building located directly under the tower, houses museums, restaurants and shops. Departing from here, guests can visit two observation decks. The 2-story Main Observatory is located at 150 meters (492 ft), while the smaller Special Observatory reaches a height of 250 meters (820 ft).

Originally intended for television broadcasting, radio antennas were installed in 1961 and the tower is now used to broadcast both signals for Japanese media outlets such as NHK, TBS and Fuji TV. Japan's planned switch from analog to digital for all television broadcasting by July 2011 is problematic, however. Tokyo Tower's current height is not high enough to adequately support complete terrestrial digital broadcasting to the area. A stunning HDR shot ( www.flickr.com/photos/leodileo/3501613079 ) showed me that my curved supports were much too close together. Pushing them a stud outboard allowed a different SNOT technique and now they sit flush, which looks nice.
North Dakota’s 81st Civil Support Team assists civilian first responders with identifying a simulated hazardous material threat May 6 during an interagency response exercise at the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D. This is a photograph from the Rathfarnham 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which took place in Rathfarnham, Co. Dublin, Ireland on Sunday 28th September 2013 at 10:00. This is one of the most popular runs in South County Dublin and is held in support of St. Luke's Cancer Hospital, Rathgar. This year's race attracted over 1,300 participants and the run is open to runners, joggers and walkers. The course is one of the fastest 5ks in the country with a downhill start and finish. This is an excellently organised race with marhsalling at every junction and Garda enforced road closures for the duration of the race. This race was held on a beautiful autumn morning. There was little or no breeze and there was mild temperatures of around 15C for the race.

The race starts at the easterly side of the N81 Tempelogue Road and Springfield Avenue. The start area is shown here on Google StreetView (goo.gl/maps/kg7FY). The race follows Springfield Avenue along the side of Bushy Park. The race overlaps the final kilometer and the finish as it proceeds to the Rathfarnham Road (Shown here Google Streetview goo.gl/maps/gRrI6). The route heads north on Rathfarnham road as there is a very gentle incline until the junction with the Temleogue Road is reached and runners make a sharp left turn onto the N81 (shown here Google StreetView goo.gl/maps/51S2t). The race then heads south along Templeogue Road where the runners can see the course unfold straight infront of them. The race turns left at Springfield Avenue again (start area) and the final Kilometer is as the first to the finish area (Google Streetview goo.gl/maps/1R08S) just before the Rathfarnham Road Junction. Overall this course is a flat and fast course. There is a net gain of 15M over the whole course with slightly downhill gradients at the start and towards the finish. The course is completely left-handed which makes for favourable conditions. All being equal the course provides an excellent opportunity for every from elite competitors to joggers to set a fast time for themselves.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. Troops from the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps Support Battalion dig mini trenches during rain showers that lasted several hours October 5 at RAF St. Mawgan. The rain created several challenges for the headquarters, including slippery walkways, leaking tents and pools of water near equipment. Regardless of the weather, members of the ARRC, 16 Air Assault Brigade, JFC-Naples and various other elements of NATO Forces came together for Exercise Noble Ledger to certify that the ARRC is capable and ready to assume command of the NATO Response Force mission throughout 2013. Taking command of NRF means that the ARRC will be rapidly deployable and could be called upon at any moment to deploy worldwide in support of combat or humanitarian relief efforts.
KISSIMMEE, FLA. – Four Soldiers from Mission Support Element, 143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), joined thousands of service members, veterans and their families who gathered at the Westgate Resort in Kissimmee for free food, live music and heartfelt fellowship during the second annual Military Appreciation Weekend Concert held May 5, 2018.
Westgate Resorts’ CEO David Siegel opened the property to more than 1,500 military families for a complimentary, three-night stay that culminated in a free concert that featured the Chris Weaver Band.
Alongside the complimentary concessions and children activities, the 143d ESC Soldiers set up and managed two static displays featuring one of the unit’s Humvees and Light Medium Tactical Vehicle. The vehicles attracted hundreds of children, dozens of young adults and even a few veterans who climbed aboard the driver’s seat, donned an Advanced Combat Helmet and put their hands on the steering wheel.
In addition to the dozens of pop, rock, country and R&B songs played by the Chris Weaver Band, the concert offered a military flair complete with the presentation of the colors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Command Post 4287, the singing of the national anthem by American Idol contestant Alyssa Raghu and a helicopter flyover conducted by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
Among the long list of VIPs was Florida Gov. Rick Scott who shook hands and took pictures with the 143d ESC Soldiers.
The concert concluded with fireworks that illuminated the night sky, its colorful patterns bouncing off thousands of fluttering flags and smiling faces.

The Allied Rapid Reaction Corps Support Battalion Soldiers have been working long days and nights, constructing a camp from the ground up that will sustain the whole of HQ ARRC later this year for their upcoming exercises, ARRCADE CHARGER and TRIDENT JUNCTURE 16. It’s a large undertaking, requiring building more than 30 tents, flooring, wiring, and dining facility and more.
British Lt. Sam Adamson, the ARRC Spt. Bn. Transport troop commander has been leading the build since he and his Soldiers packed up the equipment and drove it more than 12 hours from Imjin Barracks, the home of the ARRC.
We pack it up, transport it, and we work with the engineers and signals, construct the area then secure and maintain it,” he said.
“We’ve got a lot of experience here,” he continued. “Some of the lads have been doing this for about four years now so they know, probably better than I do, how the tents go together and how quickly they can go together.”
While some of the troops have done this before, for others like Cpl. Santoss Rai, a build team section leader, construction is not their given trade in the military and not all undertakings are the same.
“This is a new type of exercise to me,” he said. “I have been on lots of exercises with other regiments but not this type, it has been very hard work.”
“We are engaged in building and not our own trade, but we are working very hard and I am very proud of my boys,” he added. “They have been working so hard, all credit goes to them.”
The long days are part of the ARRC SpBn.’s training objective, working within a 16-day build phase to ensure that they will be able to react quickly to any deployment order, supplementing HQ ARRC’s ability to rapidly deploy in support of NATO.
Speed and adaptability are important factors for any military unit, but as a NATO High Readiness Force, it is even more so. The NATO missions of preserving the alliance and regional stability are more important than ever and when the ARRC takes over as the NATO Response Force in 2017, the spearhead of any NATO action, those attributes will become vital.

His one wish was to get back up to where he had come from, to see his family and birthplace one last time. With crucial support and information from Macmillan nurses he was able to get help and grants. I will never forget the smile he had on his face when we got to the very house he had been born in at Latheronwheel, Scotland. Even though it was a tragic time, to me this photograph is nothing but happiness. Gifts in wills don't just help to buy medical support, they also help to create everlasting memories for loved ones and fulfil the wishes of those who have cancer.”
