In recognition of their recent success and to support their promotion to the national league, Ganesh Velautham has donated new sports shoes to the under-15 netball team at Vada Hindu Girls College in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. At Kopay Maha Vidyalaya school, after having won gold and silver (respectively) within the Northern Province division, the under-15 boy and girls team are preparing for their admission into national league. The Shivan Foundation is providing healthy food, nutrition and milk for all players as well as a collection of league-standard volleyballs to facilitate their practice sessions. The display reads:
The M981, known as the FIST-V was the first U.S. Army specialized vehicle for the Fire Support Team or Forward Observer in the U.S. Army. Introduced in 1978, the FIST-V used a M113 Armored Personnel Carrier chassis and was identical in appearance to the M901 Improved TOW Vehicle (ITV). This identical appearance helped make the fire support team less of a target on the battlefield. The ITV used the large "hammerhead" on top of the vehicle to launch TOW anti-tank missiles. The "hammerhead" on the FIST-V housed a ground / vehicle laser locator designator (G/VLLD) and a AN/TAS-4 night sight. This allowed the fire support team to locate and designate targets with the laser to be hit by precision guided artillery projectiles or aerial bombs. Inside, the M981 had seven radios and two digital message devices to communicate with the infantry or armor units it supported or the artillery fire direction center. During Operation Desert Storm in 1991, units found that the M981 and other M113 series vehicles were unable to keep up with the Abrams tanks and Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles. The FIST-V was replaced by the Bradley FIST (BFIST) beginning in 2000.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. --- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District completed this $11 million Training Support Center in April 2011, which serves as a central location for all Army training aids, products and devices on Fort Bragg. Additionally, the 118,700 square-foot facility includes 12 training rooms where Soldiers use advanced video gaming technology for virtual weapons training (pictured). The sophisticated technology mimics real world battlefield scenarios and provides Soldiers with useful feedback for improving their accuracy and precision in weapons firing. With construction performed by North Carolina-based prime contractor Osborne Company, this project is the first warehouse facility of its type in the Army. It will serve as a prototype for similar facilities at other major Army installations worldwide. USACE photo by Tracy Robillard.

Washington DC March 20, 2016. Demonstrators gathered in front of the White House and marched to the Convention Center to protest the annual AIPAC conference. This year the event will feature speeches by Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. The crowd was boisterous and it seemed like every police car in DC was there.

PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. - The 641st Regional Support Group, an Army Reserve logistics and transportation brigade based in St. Petersburg, Fla., conducted a Best Warrior Competition and Officer Challenge Jan. 24 at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla.
Both competitions took place during the final full day of Operation Responsive Sentinel, a sustainment training and disaster relief field exercise comprising approximately 20 units and 900 Soldiers. Resolve Sentinel's operational and tactical missions at Port Canaveral, Patrick AFB and the Air Force's Malabar Transmitter Annex offered numerous opportunities for the troops to apply their military and civilian skills to plan, organize and execute objectives on land and sea.
The Best Warrior Competition featured six enlisted Soldiers representing several companies and battalions attached to the 641st RSG. The half-dozen men and women faced off in a various warrior-oriented tasks ranging from a written exam and sergeants major interview board to a ruck march and a rifle and pistol qualification round.
The top two competitors will represent the 641st RSG in the 143d Sustainment Command
(Expeditionary)'s Best Warrior Competition planned for March 9-13 at Camp Blanding, Fla.
While specialists and sergeants shot, sang, ran and marched their way to the finish line, scores of junior officers formed at Patrick AFB's Education and Training Center to test their strength, dexterity, memory and morale in the 641st RSG's officer challenge. Teams of five officers competed at six unique
stations spread along a six-mile route. The challenge began with map reading and rank recognition events, continued with casualty evacuation scenario and a ethical dilemma, and concluded with a physical challenge and rifle marksmanship.
