Design for Water is a special project that evolved from a workshop held at AKTO design and Art College in Thessaloniki, Greece on February 20th - 21st, 2013. The workshop titled "Social Design" was conducted by Michael Thompson otherwise called "Freestylee" and Maria Papaefstathiou. The purpose of this workshop is to help young designers channel their creativity into tools that can impact their community and the wider world in a positive direction. Also, to communicate on how to use poster designs as a vehicle for change. We choose the topic "The Clean Water Crisis" as a platform to build awareness around the subject and to support FACE Africa's effort in Liberia. FACE Africa is an organization working in Liberia to resolve the clean water crisis that is so prominent in that West African country.

Supports for a new bridge that will take northbound lanes of I-5 over I-705 in Tacoma. The existing northbound lanes of I-5 will later be converted to northbound and southbound HOV lanes. This photo also shows why WSDOT has to temporarily close several ramps that lead to and from State Route 7 and I-705 from I-5 to keep drivers safe. More than 120 sailors paraded through Portsmouth today (June 27) as part of the Royal Navy’s contribution to Armed Forces Day.
The parade, organised by the City Council, was led by the Portsmouth Royal Marines Band and involved sailors from Portsmouth-based ships and shore establishments in the region.
Troops marched from St John’s Catholic Cathedral to the Guildhall Square via Edinburgh Road, Stanhope Road and Commercial Road.
Sailors from the Fareham training establishment HMS Collingwood formed the parade’s guard of honour and were joined by five platoons comprising personnel from the Naval Base, Fleet Diving Squadron, HMS Edinburgh, Defence College of Policing and Guarding plus medics based at Queen Alexandra Hospital. The Army and RAF were also represented.
In the Guildhall Square Second Sea Lord Vice Admiral David Steel took the salute and inspected the sailors with Portsmouth Naval Base Commander Commodore Jeremy Rigby.

Finally made up my mind to create my own diary for 2012 a week ago, here I go sharing with you all! But first please give me a little support, my Dad recovered from prostate cancer but at the same time developed Parkinson's disease a few years ago. In the past week he has deteriorated a lot, bed bound finally, no more speech, I'm the last person he can recognize. It is so tough for Mom as a care taker. All I ask for is your sincere prayers, as you download this creation, for my Dad and Mom, so that he can go peacefully proud of his sons, and she can start to explore this new world with us. What a courageous woman she is.

Thanks to my Dad's dedication to Chinese painting and art, I had my implicit training early in life and became a visual person yet unafraid to look deep into the subject matters. For years, I bought diaries but none of them satisfied my visual and creative needs.

Since the beginning of the diary making business, every single diary is made by representing time in fixed grids. To challenge this right representation, after exploring in deep thoughts the essence of my own perfect diary, I present to you my Chronodex idea.
Come to think of it, the paper which makes up a diary originated from trees, when the sheets of paper are bound together in the middle, it is almost like foliages stemming from a tree's trunk. Each page is like a branch, each opened page is a week, each day is like a beautiful flower grew from that page, consist of petals of your day's time slices.
You may argue that this format is still slicing time into blocks and far from the fractal nature, but soon as you start using it, you will find that time is no longer right, instead you will find fluidity through free notations.
The more important time slices can be drawn larger, activities can be dots or pies (petals if you will) depending on duration or importance, space on a page is no longer limited to grids. Basically you can roam freely and be amazed how beautiful your week can be.
What's more is that your mind gradually deviate from the rigid format a typical diary imposes on you, reactivity soon flourishes. Imagine the effect happening in weeks! And I'm not kidding.

To grow your own diary, after downloading the PDF version of your choice, print it out double sided (duplex) in landscape mode on A4 papers. Be sure to print it out 100% without scale, left/right binding (try the first few pages on your printer and settings and you'll see what I mean). Check the sequence after the print out.

Next, cut away the left and right portion of the A4 paper according to the cut line.

Now here's the interesting part of the binding. Use a chisel to punch holes on both ends of the spine and stitch the pages up. You can staple them together just the same. This method will get you a bound notebook but ready for a cool bookmark which I will mention in a moment.

To create a bookmark, simple take a piece of hard paper, cut it the way I showed above. Slide it between the papers of the current week, the slide 90 degree up following the spine to have the tab exposed on top of the diary (I hope I'm describing it right). There you go! a bookmark with a tab extruding from the top of your diary.
This cool bookmark invention based on the way you bind your diary is so useful and flexible, you will find it amazing when you reach the 12th week of the year! Tell me about that in a few months.

The last part of my Chronodex journey was to make a cool diary cover. Thanks for my family's tolerance, I had a little free time in broad daylight having fun doing it, 2 cups of coffee, listening to audiobook through my iPhone/Jambox combo.

The wood screw in my pole gave way when I was putting it up. I replaced it with a 6mm stud fixed in two 12mm aluminium bars making a much firmer joint.

Happy Valentines everyone. We're a bit tired over here. But its a special day in many ways; its a day not just about couples, but anyone you love. It's a day of heart support.

Designer Tiana has been fully deboxed, and is posed standing, supported by the custom doll stand. Her skirt, freed from the factory restraints, is now wider than the doll stand, and is allowed to drape over the edges of the base. The triple layered petticoat helps keep the skirt full, but the back of the skirt still shows the creases from being folded during packaging.
First look at the Disney Princess Designer Collection Tiana Doll. She was released in October 2011, and I got her from eBay shortly afterwards, so It's been more than a year and a half since i got this doll. But I have not yet deboxed her, and this the first time I am doing a full photoshoot of her. I will photograph her boxed, during her deboxing, and fully deboxed.
My Designer Tiana doll is a limited edition doll produced and sold exclusively by the Disney Store, and is numbered 2503 of 4000. She is based on the title character from the Disney animated feature The Princess and the Frog (2009). She comes in an acrylic case with a built-in doll stand, with a base that has a golden filigree design, and a golden metallic nameplate. There is also a cardboard cover for the case that I have not photographed here.
She is 11 1/2'' tall, and has the same body as the other Designer Princess dolls, with jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, hips and knees (internal). She has rubber legs and fixed ankles, with feet angled for high heels.
She has jet black, medium length hair styled in a Snow White like bob, with a hair net over it to keep it in place. She has dark brown skin, and a unique face sculpt that is very pretty and movie accurate. She has small light brown eyes that are glancing towards her right. She has light violet eye shadow, and black eyebrows. She has rooted eyelashes, that are tapered in length from short to long, then at the ends there are very long curved antenna like lashes. She has a small round nose, full dark brown lips in with a closed mouth smile, and dimples in her cheeks. She is pale red rouge on her cheeks.
Her strapless gown is made of light blue-green (teal) satin. Over her bodice are two layers of satin leaf-like of the same color, the outer layer of which is decorated with many small green gems. She has a thin green beaded belt around her waist, with a large white cloth flower with a large green gem in its center. The upper layer of her bodice extends below her waist to form a short peplum (overskirt). Her skirt is floor length and is round and very wide, the full extent of which can be seen only when she is deboxed, and the packaging restraints removed. Under her skirt is a thin green under skirt, and under that is a triple layed tulle petticoat, that is not as stiff as the one on the LE 17'' Tiana doll. The gown is simple, but very elegant.
She is wearing light teal high heeled shoes, which match the color of her skirt.
Her accessories include gloves, flower hair pin, earrings and jeweled frog. Her gloves are 3/4 length stretch white gloves studded with small green gems. There is a large white cloth flower in her hair with a large green gem in the center, which is identical to the flower on the waist of her gown. Her earrings are studs with small round green gems. Finally she is holding a green frog in her left hand, who represents Prince Naveen in frog form. The frog has green jewels for eyes.
It breaks my heart that the little ol' abandoned house this was taken in is being renovated into a retirement village :(
This was a special cookie, and I worked very hard to come up with a UNIQUE design for them. They were ordered by a wife for her husband who is finishing his third tour of duty in Iraq. This was for their anniversary. I didn't ask a lot of questions, but their "thing" is sheep. So this is my sheep with an army twist. Camo background, dog tags, and a heart from his wife.
I made an exception to my ABSOLUTELY NO SHIPPING rule. I packed them for her, and her best friend agreed to ship them. I am very glad it worked out so well. Now lets pray they make it to Iraq safely and in a timely manner!
Considering new information about the real impact of the whole story with the stalkers and the band, we thought that for once, they really need a huge demonstration of love from their real fans.
We were here for them , when bill was sick... and along all things they went through this last 3 years and half.
Thats why we raised up a Fanaction, that we need to be global and international to show them our endless support and respect for their music and for the boys they are.
So here is the deal, i’m part of the French forum THSekunde (http://tokiohotelsekunde.forumandco.com/). We believe most of the Fanctions won’t be known by the band (unfortunately), or even by other fans worldwide. That’s why we decided to organize a BIG GLOBAL action for all the countries supporting Tokio Hotel, not only Tom, but all the band.
We want to do a big download day on the song « ich bin da » (or “by your side”, depends on your country). The aim is to make a huge buzz and to take the song on the top of the worldwide charts ! If it succeeds, the band, medias, people, and all fans will know it immediately : why a song available for 2 years (1 year in some countries) is suddendly #1 ? We choose “ich bin da” because of the lyrics. We want this action to be broadcast everywhere the same day.
We all know the atmosphere is extremely COLD between worldwide fans, it’is the biggest opportunity to change it and show everyone that we are united by music. As a return to the source. The download-day will be on May, 16th on iTunes.

San Jose Fire Department responded to a late night fire in an apartment building on Bridgeport Court in December 2012. The two alarm blaze destroyed part of the complex and resulted in three fatalities. Approx 56 people were displaced by the blaze and were being assisted by the Red Cross.
Fire Associates of Santa Clara Valley responded Fire Support Unit 2 to the scene of the incident to provide Rehab support for the firefighters. FSU2 is a 2008 Ford F550 with a custom built body to support the Rehab functions on a fire ground.

RFA Diligence was a forward repair ship of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. Launched in 1981 as a support ship for North Sea oil rigs, she was chartered by the British government to support naval activities during the 1982 Falklands War and was later bought outright as a fleet maintenance vessel.
In 2016 she was decommissioned and put up for sale by the Ministry of Defence. In March 2017, Diligence was towed from Birkenhead to Portsmouth where she was waiting for disposal when this picture was taken
