A Sash Bradshaw figure with a Wandjina Period kangaroo totem from the Aborigine Epoch painted on top. The Sash Bradshaw figure shows a number of typical features - from top to bottom - the 'Dunce Cap Headdress' and 'Pompom Tip' with a feather and a tassel hanging down, a 'Bird Wing Feature' mounted on the forehead, 'Tuft Armbands', a 'Waist Pompom' and a chest band-mounted 'Broad Plume Feature' . The hand-held objects include boomerangs and a 'Whisk'.

Thrust faults are low-angle reverse faults, involving upward movement of the hanging wall and downward movement of the footwall. The fault planes of thrust faults are supposed to be less than 30 degrees from the horizontal, as seen in cross-section. Thrust faults, and reverse faults in general, form by compressional stress - they are common in mountain belts.

 

The light-colored rocks in the upper thrust plate are part of the basal Dunham Dolostone (upper Lower Cambrian). The gray-colored rocks in the lower thrust plate are part of the Iberville Formation (Middle Ordovician). The rocks look like shales, but they're not - they're intensely calcite-veined, dark gray lime mudstones (probably argillaceous).

 

Normally, one would not expect older rocks above younger rocks - that's an apparent violation of the Principle of Superposition. However, the principle only applies to non-disturbed/deformed rocks.

 

The Champlain Thrust Fault was active during the Taconic Orogeny, an Ordovician to Silurian mountain-building event involving the collision of a volcanic island arc with Laurentia (= the North American paleocontinent). The fault zone was also active during the subsequent Acadian Orogeny (Silurian to Devonian).

 

Locality: lakeshore cliff in small cove north of Lone Rock Point, northwestern side of the town of Burlington, northwestern Chittenden County, northwestern Vermont, USA (44° 29' 41.33" North latitude, 73° 14' 49.46" West longitude)

MOMO (° 1974, San Francisco), is an American artist. His work is not intended to be representative, but is purely sensual. In addition to his studio work, he paints murals and public installations. The ideas he develops in his paintings and three-dimensional installations are conceptual and aesthetically post-digital: they have the look and feel of digital paintings with their geometric compositions and the superposition of layers drawn across the surface. For MOMO, work preparation is an integral part of the process. For example, he develops specific working tools for each project. MOMO plays with color theories and manipulates our sensual experience of his art. The resulting graphic work has strong, vibrant features composed of clean lines and pure and primary colors.

This work was on display in 2016 at the MIMA in Molenbeek, Brussels, on the occasion of the opening of the museum.

 

MOMO (° 1974, San Francisco), is een Amerikaanse kunstenaar. Zijn werk heeft niet de bedoeling representatief te zijn, maar is puur sensueel. Naast zijn studiowerk schildert hij muurschilderingen en openbare installaties. De ideeën die hij ontwikkelt in zijn schilderijen en driedimensionale installaties zijn conceptueel en esthetisch post-digitaal: ze hebben de look en feel van digitale schilderijen met hun geometrische composities en de superpositie van lagen die over het oppervlak zijn getrokken. Voor MOMO maakt de voorbereiding van een werk integraal deel uit van het proces. Zo ontwikkelt hij per project specifieke werkinstrumenten. MOMO speelt met kleurentheoriën en manipuleert onze sensuele ervaring van zijn kunst. Het resulterende grafische werk heeft sterke, levendige kenmerken die zijn samengesteld uit strakke lijnen en pure en primaire kleuren.

Dit werk was in 2016 te zien in het MIMA in Molenbeek, Brussel, naar aanleiding van de opening van het museum.

En plus de son travail en atelier, il peint des peintures murales et des installations publiques. Les idées qu'il développe dans ses peintures et installations tridimensionnelles sont conceptuellement et esthétiquement post-numériques: elles ont l'aspect et la sensation des peintures numériques avec leurs compositions géométriques et la superposition de couches dessinées sur la surface. Pour MOMO, la préparation du travail fait partie intégrante du processus. Par exemple, il développe des outils de travail spécifiques pour chaque projet. MOMO joue avec les théories de la couleur et manipule notre expérience sensuelle de son art. Le travail graphique qui en résulte présente des caractéristiques fortes et vibrantes composées de lignes épurées et de couleurs pures et primaires.

Cette œuvre a été exposée en 2016 au MIMA de Molenbeek, Bruxelles, à l'occasion de l'ouverture du musée.

When orbiting Saturn, be sure to watch for breathtaking superpositions of moons and rings. One such picturesque vista was visible recently to the robot Cassini spacecraft now orbiting Saturn. In 2006 April, Cassini captured Saturn's A and F rings stretching in front of cloud-shrouded Titan. Near the rings and appearing just above Titan was Epimetheus, a moon which orbits just outside the F ring.
