Another Western Superflat joint, "The Human Kaiju" is an apocalyptic work that rides the heels of the supposed 2012 end of the world. Perhaps nothing will come of this 2012 nonsense, but one thing is certain, the iconic nature of Tetsuo (from the manga and movie AKIRA) is nothing less than world ending. From the pages of a comic and a movie that changed a medium on a budget Michael Bay would laugh at, Tetsuo's more than an incarnation of angsty youth in pop culture.
When you think about it, he's a human kaiju in a monster movie, only they replaced Godzilla with a human. This is no accident. Godzilla brought as much destruction as he did change to the popular culture and visual cultures, and so too does Tetsuo create an eerie presence of youthful rage at the powers who think they can control him, only to realise their efforts to make a mercenary monster out of a mere human being will be their undoing.
Truly it is a tale worthy of our troubled, turbulent, and lack of government trusting times. So then the artist who made this presents his portrait of one of the most political anime characters ever created. Good? Evil? It matters not.
Nothing matters to the raging incarnation of destruction he becomes. When one is dehumanised by society, he treats society as an inhuman thing to be destroyed, to kill.

On the way back from Colorado, we made a short stop in North Platte, Nebraska, to check out Buffalo Bill's house and ranch. It's a really cool little place to stop, so I highly recommend it! Not to mention that North Platte is a cool town and has a lot of great old stuff to look at, especially a lot of cool old neon Motel signs! Hope I can visit again someday, even though Nebraska is superflat and makes hillbillies like me cry.

Antiques of assorted types in Buffalo Bill's Kitchen.
I liked this house tour. The bottom floor is restored to original like when Buffalo Bill lived here, and the upper floors are a museum of Buffalo Bill memorabilia. It's self-guided and free, no stuffy tour guides or outrageous fees, or rules about not taking pictures. My type of place! :D
