Outbuildings at Scout's Rest Ranch.

On the way back from Colorado, we made a short stop in North Platte, Nebraska, to check out Buffalo Bill's house and ranch. It's a really cool little place to stop, so I highly recommend it! Not to mention that North Platte is a cool town and has a lot of great old stuff to look at, especially a lot of cool old neon Motel signs! Hope I can visit again someday, even though Nebraska is superflat and makes hillbillies like me cry.

Dear friends, for the next three weeks we would like to introduce you to Andreas Lechner from Graz, Austria, who will be guest curating Of Houses starting from Monday October, 27th up to Sunday November, 16th.

Andreas Lechner (lechner.mur.at/) is assistant professor at the Graz University of Technology. After working in Berlin, Vienna and with Shigeru Ban Architects in Tokyo he obtained a PhD in 2009 with a thesis on “Superflat Architectures”.

He guest lectured and taught at HCU Hamburg and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and at the Institut für Gebäudelehre he lectures on architectural typologies, teaches design studios and supervises diploma theses.

In 2010 he won the 1st prize in the international competition „Europan 10“ and realized several projects around Graz.

He co-edited several publications and published various articles amongst others in Umbau, GAM, JoLA and San Rocco Architecture Magazine.

Andreas has prepared for Of Houses a very personal selection of old forgotten houses that we hope you will all enjoy in the forthcoming weeks.
