David bought close to 50 vintage bingo cards. I don't know what he's going to do with them, but he assures me that someday something supercool will come from this purchase...

Took this at Central in Santa Monica, full name Central Social Aid & Pleasure Club, described as "CENTRAL SAPC is a community event facility, for music, nightlife, art, culture and causes. This organic space is a meeting center for progressive culture, social activist and globally conscious organizations to hold community meetings, benefits, and rallies, in addition to programming amazing indie music & cultivating the electronic scene on the Westside of LA." What a great idea!

Also, had the pleasure of finally meeting fellow Flickrino man of toast and even got to play with his supercool 85mm 1.4 lens a bit. :->

Missy McInnes is our Dean's wife. She's an awesome lady. She and her husband foot the bill for a faculty/staff party every fall, to welcome us all back to the academic school year. Our pr office usually handles all the details for this event. [and many others]

this year's theme was an Hawaiian Luau. replete with roasted whole pig.

Missy had 4 purple and white orchid leis flown in from Hawaii yesterday morning especially for us.

How flippin' cool is that? all night long the leis wafted out the most beautiful aroma....i felt... well... almost beautiful wearing such gorgeous flowers around my neck.

Supercool hardware for podium toppers, including these fantastic WWE style belts, and unique pottery. Iain landed the chainring embossed one, which is totally sweet!

There have been a few arty projects popping up around the city mostly hinting at the commonweath games and mostly on long, dull or (previously) ugly walls, but this is the first time I've seen any used to cover junction boxes...pretty cool. Shame about the flyer.

We created an impromptu house band for our company party: all performances were done on various apps on iPads and iPhones.

Supercool and also sounded great :) See them play live: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFxnWmO-4nE

Vintage 1950s Kay K-125 electric guitar. It does have the typical scratches and scrapes of a 1950s vintage guitar and has nice k logo decal on the top.

1952 Kay 125 "Stratotone" Guitar w Jimmy Reed Thin Twin Pickup

The year was 1952. The reigning guitar gods of Kalamazoo, Michigan had just released their first venture into the world of solid body, single cutaway guitars.

Not to be outdone -- or perhaps more accurately, “to be totally outdone”-- the good people at Kay Musical Instruments in Chicago had some other ideas… Like, “Why not take one of those supercool, honkin’ blade pickups off one of our 'Thin Twin' Jimmy Reed guitars, and slap it on a plank of wood?” and, “Hey, why not attach the cord to the guitar, so you never have to go looking for one?”

The rest, as they say, is history, the Kay 125 (sometimes referred to as a “Stratotone” though I don’t believe that’s an official name).

This model was only available for about two years and came complete with tiger-striped “tortoise shell” mounting plates for the pickup and controls-- All for the amazingly low price of $49.50.
