The super moon falling behind the London skyline in January 2018 super moon. I was lucky enough to get the globe fully on the horizon to make it extra huge but i am happy enough that i was able to get this.

Josie is doing fine.

Josie has been off her diuretics for a few months now thanks to my local vet here who said she doesn't need them. It was a bit nerve racking in the first few days off them because she appeared to be having distress breathing at times, but that passed, and she's just fine now.

She's still on fortekor. On occasion I have forgotten to give it to her and she'll get a dose one and a half days since the previous dose, she seemed ok but I'm too scared to test her off it. The only way I can safely take her off it is to have an echocardiogram in Sydney, three and a half hour drive, and that will determine the thickness of the walls of her heart and if they have reduced or not.

I can get someone to drive me while I pacify her in the car, but I'm still very nervous to put her through the stress with her heart condition. The vet that did Josie at Sylvania has left that clinic, and she managed to do the echocardiogram without sedating Josie, she had a way with her to calm her down and make her still enough. I would be working with a different vet if I took her to Sydney. Sedation could kill her. Everything is a risk.

Given Empire was our main target I timed the aerial assault so CN would be loading. Well, on our first pass the second half of the empty train was there but no power. As we moved on to Eagle Mills I saw the light power going under a haul road just north of Empire so it was easy pickings on our return attempt. Here the train (U741) loads at Empire's Super Pocket (the original unused loading pockets are off to the right)

It was a magical time for us when the D&RGW began to assign SD7 and SD9 locomotives to transfers between Geneva Steel and Provo, Utah. We were floating on a cloud. I still remember the staccato bark of these awesome beasts. October 1975

Over the weekend, the Moon made a close approach in its orbit while it was full. I took the opportunity to photograph this so-called "Super Moon."

OK this is the start of day eight of the trip, and a bit of background. It's very early on day eight, the 24th June. In fact it's just after midnight. I had seen that this was the shortest night, with sunset here at 00.45 and sunrise at 01.30. Only 45 minutes of the sun below the horizon. So I thought it would be fun to head out and stay up between sunrise and sunset!

As I drove around looking to take a few photographs I noticed that the moon looked quite large. It was only some time after though that I saw on the web that this was a super moon, the biggest full moon of 2013. A super moon happens when a full moon coincides with the moon being at its closest to the earth.

In this photo, in the foreground you can see some of the lava fields of Dimmuborgir. Dimmuborgir means dark castles, refering to the lava formations, pillars, chimneys, cones, and keyhole rocks that formed in this area east of Lake Myvatn around 2,300 years ago.

Following it with the camera and I could hardly keep up

This was a super rare chance to see the original deco-esque paintings that Crowley created with artist Harris reflected his own dark weird take on the deck based around his self created magick religion Thoth. The kind of work you would never expect to see in Venice which is what made it so inspiring.

=====================

The Zeiss-Ikon Super Ikonta 531 was one of the smallest (but more capable) cameras in the Ikonta family, one of the most relevant camera types of this brand. They were manufactured between 1936 and 1956.

In fact, it’s like the miniature version of his “big sister” 531/2, in 6x9 cm format; this, on the other hand, is 6x4.5cm format, smaller but very light and compact. It also retains the telemetry focusing system.

The lens is a Carl Zeiss Tessar f3.5 / 75mm, in Compur Rapid shutter. The quality of the manufecture (and the lens) is superb.

Specifically, this camera seems to have been manufactured in 1938 (according to the serial number of the lens), and fortunately we know where it was bought (by the store's plate stuck to the front): in the Hatschek es Farkas - HAFA store in Budapest.
