Low-angle, backlit view of the Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown, Massachusetts. The granite tower rises against a blue sky, with a crisp sunstar and a touch of flare highlighting the stone texture and height.

Another photo from an awesome morning on the Oregon coast. Low tide and a rain cloud had just passed......

Have an awesome day !!

Olympic National Park, Washington.

Joy and I had the opportunity to spend 20 days exploring Olympic and Rainier National Parks and the Oregon coast. The road trip covered 4000 miles. Coming from the brown of southern California, the intensity of the GREEN in the temperate rain forests wad almost overwhelming. The weather was tough (it is a RAIN forest!) and the light challenging, but it was a magnificent trip. I hope you enjoy some of the shots.

See the sun light through the leaves :)

Pieces of metal flap in the wind in the mill at the abandoned site in Death Valley. Most of the equipment has been removed and some of the building has collapsed. The information about who owned and operated this mill and mined in the area is not known for sure. It also appears not much milling or mining went on although the house appeared to have been used until the 60's.

Happy Sun Ray Sunday!

Another sunny day at the look-out

Fairly happy with my first attempt at this classic shot. I'll have to wait until December if I want to try to do better.

Auf dem Weg zum Abendessen noch kurz diese tolle Abendstimmung eingefangen.

========================================================

Captured this great evening mood briefly on the way to dinner.

It feels like the dog days of summer are already here with these 95 degree days upon us here in NC. It instantly makes me start thinking about Fall's crisp morning air. This shot's from my trip out to Colorado last year...an aspen grove pretty far out Last Dollar Road. The San Juan Mountains, especially in Fall, have to be on every photographer's bucket list; so glad I was lucky enough to visit last year. Have a great weekend everyone!

Gotcha!! Thrilling start today down at Durdle Door. To actually be able to pinpoint the sun rising through the door is only possible for a short window of time, close to the winter solstice.

I had already written the keyhole shot off before I even got down to the beach pre-sunrise due to a large bank of cloud on the horizon. But as I had never shot DD before from the beach I decided to go with it as it was and took a load of shots including some long exposure. Then suddenly at the right time the cloud broke up and I realised it was my lucky day so it was headless chicken time, all over the beach trying to get the best angle.

Normally shooting into the sun is my worst nightmare. I struggle to take artistic looking sunbursts and I am not a fan of lens flare and blown out highlights. This isn't technically perfect but I am pretty pleased with it.

Sorry for the long write up but it was pretty special. I will post some of the pre sunrise shots as and when.

Light from a rising sun bursts through the bars of a cow barn, heralding a good day ahead.

Hand-held & filter-free in a Pembrokeshire back garden. Pretty heavy crop on this one & a fair bit of mucking about in Photoshop to make things look more than a little SciFi; just as we like it... ;-)

& Oh; HSS? Does this fit the bill? ;-)

The full bloom of lavender in French Provence usually coincides with the end of June, but fields of sunflowers can also be found among the lavender. This photograph is taken in Valensole France.

After exploring some of the canyons around Dry Falls and Deep Lake we headed for the truck.

Back this week from a wonderful time away in North Wales. I took so many shots and am now in the process of trying to sort a few good ones!

Wünsche allen einen guten Morgen.

I've had this composition in mind for a while, capturing the sun dipping between Gull Rocks, at Holywell Bay in Cornwall. This image posed all sorts of problems in post processing, particularly white balance. Anyway, after several resets in LR, I've settled on this as the finished product.....could have been better, and no doubt I will give it another go in the future !!! Alwayys look forward to your comments.......thanks.
