Sunset captured from Marina Beach in Edmonds, Washington, USA.

The title of this photo perfectly encapsulates how I feel as I embark on a new year.

This aerial panorama, taken at sunset, captures a sweeping curve in the road surrounding a small, serene lake at its edge. From this perspective, the interplay between the flowing road and still water creates a dynamic yet tranquil composition—a perfect metaphor for the balance I aim to achieve in photography and in life.

In many ways, drone photography opens new horizons for me, both literally and figuratively. It's a challenge to step out of my comfort zone and embrace an entirely different way of capturing the world. While motivation can sometimes falter, moments like these remind me of the joy in seeking new perspectives and pushing past limits.

It's about looking forward, holding onto aspirations, and rediscovering the awe and curiosity that fueled me at the beginning of this journey.

Here’s to new perspectives, new learnings, new challenges and the pursuit of creativity in 2025.

After being rainy most of the time the fair was in town the last day the sky was pretty with rays at sunset. Captured a Ferris Wheel rider enjoying the ride and the sunset.

Good evening gang! I hope you all are having a nice week so far. I still have a heaping mound (an iceberg you might say) of photos from the snow and ice to share so I hope you aren't sick of seeing them yet. And if you are...too bad As for this particular photo, it took some effort. I visited this spot at three different times on the same day (morning, mid-afternoon, and just before sunset) capture the light and details in the ice and reflection that I wanted. It also took a lot of laying on the ground in the snow to make sure I caught the reflection, but to also keep the reflection from intersecting with the lines in the ice. This is the pre-sunset photo so the low light was nice and warm which contrasted wonderfully with the deep blue of the ice and sky. I wanted clouds, but there were none to be had. I typically hate cloudless skies though it seems to work for this composition.

Wow i can,t believe i have hit my 2000th upload to Flickr already and as i was looking to see what i could post and i had to put up this image which does really covers what i am good that. Yes a great shot from the Bournemouth air show would of been nice but almost all are not that good, a macro capture umm maybe but a beautiful sunset capture won.

I hope you like it and i will not be on here tomorrow as it is my 45th and the wife would kill me lol .

This photo was taken at 11:20 am, so I'm not quite sure why it looks more like a sunrise or sunset capture. Not too inspiring a photo, but It seemed a shame to waste the colour. I added a "smudge stick" filter to liven up the image a little.

On 21 January 2015, my daughter and I spent the day together, out in nature. I know I needed to get out myself and the fact that my daughter asked if we could do that, told me that she, too, needed to get a break from all the sadness and reminders of her big sister/my older daughter for a few hours. Friends have been telling me how important it is to be outdoors with my camera, especially at a time like this, and I know they are right.

Much as it would have been great to have gone looking for Snowy Owls, I just didn't feel up to that long of a drive. Instead, I drove to a much more familiar, closer area, SE of the city. The day was a mix of sun and cloudiness, and though the sun was in the wrong position for some of our shots, we did OK.

As for birds, we saw a couple of Great Horned Owls, a raptor of some kind (either a Prairie Falcon or a Gyrfalcon), several Gray Partridge and what I think must have been Horned Larks.

The rest of the day, my daughter and I drove mostly roads that we had driven before, except for one short stretch where we found not just one beautiful, old barn, but two. This day was as much a barn day as a bird day, as there was one particular barn that I really wanted to see for the first time. We were lucky that the second barn was close by.

I think being out with our cameras, driving the backroads, was therapeutic - certainly for me as I could enjoy my daughter's company, and hopefully for her, too.

This photos is taken way before the iPhone-era. (nowadays I fancy iPhoneography, big time).

I always liked sunsets, sunrises, the sky, clouds etc etc, but in my life way back then, there was always someone else who took the pictures, and most of the times I was the photographed object :-)

At some point that period of my life came to an end, I decided to pick up a long forgotten passion (is this the right word?) in my new life: photography. And so I looked for and found a forum on the internet (Flickr) to present my photos, my life (if you like), and the rest is history, as shown in my photostream.

So this is my first sunset-capture!

A sunset captured last week. The haze in Hong Kong makes for interesting images :-)

A sunset captured while camping underneath the Devils Tower. We thought that we should not miss this sunset while looking for gas-stations, so we camped there with a near-empty tank of gas. Finally, it was worth taking the chance.

This is the exact camp site where the Hollywood movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" was filmed longtime ago. Many of you were right when you pointed it out in my previous picture.

Had great fun creating this one.

this recently completed building has a stunning architecture of red brick decorated with little hands which are

the trademark of the city from which it derives its name, the huge wavy glass surface is a technical masterpiece.

Some recent sunsets captured at my favorite local reflecting pools.

OK, I was on my way to the car-wash, but then I saw the sunset reflection on the hood. By the time I had finished snapping photos I was too hungry...

Still haven't washed it... two weeks later.

As a colleague of mine says: "If it can reflect the sunset, it does not need a car-wash..."

A nice sunset captured on the afternoon of Christmas. I really liked the sky. Just 20 minutes before this picture was taken the sky was totally clear, but after some time clouds started to appear. It felt like the appeared only to be captured in this photo. I edited this photo the day I got home, but wasn't satisfied with the results so today I got back to it and I took it to the surreal end of things... Well, now I really like it and I'd like to share it with you.

Pensionnat Catholique is an abandoned Boarding School somewhere in France. The place is huge! Complete with a large chapel which shockingly was not located on the ground floor... There was also a large sports hall and lots of sprawling corridors of classrooms and labs. Visited this time with Kriegaffe9 and Andy K as part of the 'missing man' tour we spent a few hours here before sunset capturing the really nice light which was streaming through the windows in the late afternoon!
