Having started its journey a minute early, Sunray Travel RL51 CXB turns from Epsom High Street into Ashley Road on a full length 479 working to Guildford.
High Street/Ashley Road, Epsom, Surrey.
I went to Leatherhead in the hope of seeing all three workings on the 479. In the end, the 489's no-show meant I didn't. I got to Guildford in time to see the 1630 and 1730 departures, and should have seen the 1750 arrival.
Usually, the 1750 does turn up, as there's a handful of people on it, but unless it broke down, it didn't bother yesterday. Perhaps the dire weather had put passengers off.
I'm assuming it went home early.
Since the last time I saw the 479s, the Southern Transit deckers have gone back home (two survied the ordeal, two came off less well).
There's now more Volvo B10Ms on loan from Edward Thomas to cover the route. For some reason I can't fathom, Edward Thomas cover over the destination boxes on most of their vehicles. This is despite the fact they do operate quite a lot of publicly registered school routes, which should show full details.
Anyway - the end result is that the 479 is currently using 100% paper blinds, and normal manual blinds have been wiped from existence in Guildford.
This is Edward Thomas M615 APN - also ex-Stagecoach, but not so locally.
Here it is on the 1730 ex-Guildford, running up Leapale Road.

Sunray Travel Olympian N431 FKK, on loan from Southern Transit and still in Uno livery, loads for Epsom on a through 479 journey from Guildford.
Sunray currently have four Olympians on loan from Southern Transit. Three of these ex-Uno ones, and an older one in Axe Valley livery.
Lower Road, Bookham, Surrey.
I was sky watching at 5 am , and it looked promising , so got my stuff together and ventured out in my lame dying car , did not have a venue in mind , roads were quiet at that time , took this side road I rarely use and came across these fields of poppys : ) with a Hazy sunrise , prior to this shot I ventured in the field took loads of shots , but could not achieve the sense of vastness , I new or hoped for sunrays breaking through , the light was very tricky and could not get exposures right , probably flapping through excitement , I took the gamble of leaving the field , got back to the car and drove further down the lane , stopping at a gap in the overgrown high Hawthorne hedges which obscured the view , parking up and getting onto the roof of my car , tripod mounted and had to take several varying shots , by doing so enabled me to capture the spotlights on the field of poppys , the distant morning haze , and of course those Sun rays , I can not say I am dissapointed with this final result trough combining 3 separate shots , only wish I had taken my time more and used my knowledge to have got it right in the camera first off , so hopefully may get another chance to try again
