The pretty America 2.0, the Adirondack III, the Western Union, the Appledore, the Jolly Rover II and many other tall ships are credited with helping to keep Key West's maritime traditions alive for years

to come. Always a joy to see skimming across Key West Harbor.

I shot this on Friday with the help of my Mums fiance, then edited it on my train into London yesterday at 7am. I'm now waiting for my train home after a weekend of being here in London, for Brookes workshop and then the small meet up Rosie and I organised, but more about both of those in my next few uploads...

This was, of course, entirely inspired by Angharads much better photo.

It's the light consuming darkness or is it the other way around? It's all a matter of perspective.

The solar eclipse of January 15, 2010 is an annular eclipse of the Sun with a magnitude of 0.9190. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partially obscuring Earth's view of the Sun. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's apparent diameter is smaller than the Sun, causing the sun to look like an annulus (ring), blocking most of the Sun's light. An annular eclipse appears as a partial eclipse over a region thousands of kilometres wide.

This is the longest annular solar eclipse of the millennium, and the longest until December 23, 3043, with a maximum length of 11 mins and 7.8 seconds. (The solar eclipse of January 4, 1992 was longer, at 11 minutes, 41 seconds, occurring in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.)

It is visible only as a partial eclipse in much of Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia. It occurs every year within a narrow stretch of 300 km (190 mi) width across Central Africa, Maldives, South Kerala (India), South Tamil Nadu (India), North Sri Lanka, parts of Myanmar, and parts of China.

**********

Last minute's capture of the setting sun and solar eclipse before smog from the metropolis obscured my view. I guess being around the Manila Bay area was a better option compared to what my vantage point had to offer. Nevertheless, it was still a magnificent sight to behold. This image was substantially cropped from the original version using Adobe Photoshop CS4. Chromatic aberration (and lens distortion) is likewise evident, particularly along the solar and lunar limbs. That's what you get from having a "cheap" telephoto like mine. XD

Woke up at 5am yesterday morning in order to get to a reasonable good spot for a sunrise shoot. It has been a long while since we have made to a sunrise, simply because in the middle of summer the sun gets up way too early for us to even try and get up ;D. It was a lovely morning and we were close enough to get to Devonian Gardens for their early opening for photographers. I will share these shots a little bit later. For now, here is a sunrise on the prairies..

When the sun is going down

Introduced 1949

Sun Drop, also marketed as Sundrop, is a citrus-flavored soda produced by Dr Pepper Snapple Group. It has a yellowish-green color imparted by Yellow 5. Among soft drinks, it is known for its high caffeine content (63 mg per 12 oz can, 9 mg higher than a 12 oz can of Mountain Dew, but not as much as Vault with 70.5 mg per 12 oz can). Orange juice is an ingredient in the drink, and remaining pulp matter from the orange juice provides some of the soft drink's taste and appearance.

That was a nice, clear, cold and sunny day; everything was still under the snow. With sun slowly dipping towards the sunset, even shadows were cooperating. Just perfect.
