Today saw UK Bus Summit take place in Westminster, London – A line up of low, ultra low and zero emission buses from ADL bus, BYD Company and Scania UK were on show for delegates who attended. who included partners from BAE Systems plc and Cummins Engines.06th February 2019.

When I took this shot I thought It might make a real good shot on a very foggy morning, to maybe get a shot of the fog in the valleys.
Wrong, I went up here on a real foggy morning and could not see anything whatsoever. Maybe a little less fog might work.
This is the peoples cross that sits on top of the Bray Head at its summit. It was erected in 1950 and can be seen for miles and miles.

Looking north from the summit of Craigshannoch, part of the Benachie range in Aberdeenshire. The hill is only around 480 metres above sea level, but it was more than enough to lift me above the haar, which has been spreading inland from the North Sea after dusk.

The Breithorn climb is considered as of the easiest of the 4,000-meter climbs in the Swiss Alps and serves as a useful training climb for the more challenging Matterhorn ascent.

Postscript
Mountaineering and rock climbing seemed relatively pure and simple back in the day, largely devoid of digital smartphones and high-tech gear, permanent bolts, fixed ropes, traffic-jam lineups, and cable-car shortcuts to the legendary climbing routes.
Nowadays the high-altitude Gandegghütte, typically the starting point on the last leg of the Breithorn ascent, can be reached by a brief 30-minute hike from a relatively new gondola station on nearby Klein Matterhorn, cutting the original Breithorn ascent from the valley by a day.
Once a remote refuge for hikers and alpinists, the upgraded mountain hut now caters to mainstream tourism and sightseeing day trips. It boasts modern hotel accommodations with free Wi-Fi and three-course meals featuring "alpine culinary delights ... carefully selected drinks, relaxed tunes" and a spectacular panoramic view over the 4000-meter-high peaks of the Pennine Alps.
Not everyone is happy with this invasive brand of alpine modernism. Traditional purists in the mountaineering community are particularly troubled. Commercial appeals to the digitalized world of mass tourism, packaged alpine jaunts, and aerial-tram shortcuts appear to have compromised much of the old-world charm, mystery, and adventure in an otherwise pristine mountain refuge.

A selection of photos from a trip to Torridon in the North West Highlands of Scotland in early Spring 2023.
Being my first visit to this area, I needed to explore so I parked up at Loch Maree and set off following a promising looking path.
While watching college football today, I game-planned on my laptop about a good evening photography location. There's supposed to be a much-needed storm rolling through the area, but I was surprised to see that all but one of the notable locations within an hour's drive of Reno were clear and sunny according to weather.com. Donner Lake was the only place that was listed as partly cloudy, so I went there. Upon arrival, the view of the lake was, in my opinion, rather stale and boring; no clouds at all were over the lake. But I did one of the best things that a photographer should always do while making images in the American West: turn around to see what's facing the other way. I noticed some cool looking clouds over the Donner Summit Bridge, and there was some nice light on a nearby mountaintop. Thankfully, there was a decent little trail that helped me get to a decent angle. Hopefully, I'll be able to get a cool shot of Donner Lake with some snow soon. We badly need it out here.
A trio of Maryland Midland SD24s ease through Blue Ridge Summit, PA with a train load of cement and general freight out of Union Bridge, MD. In a few car lengths, the train will cross back into Maryland and drop its cars for later pick up by a Chessie System crew out of Hagerstown.

The Summit Inn

The Summit Inn was built in 1928 at the summit of the Cajon Pass along Route 66 before moving to Oaks Hills, CA in 1952, following the rerouting of Route 66. In 2014, a drunk driver crashed a stolen van into the restaurant, destroying the kitchen, which was subsequently rebuild. Throughout its time, the restaurant served ostrich egg omelettes and buffalo burgers. Numerous celebrities stopped by, such as Elvis Presley, who kicked the jukebox upon discovering it had none of his records at the time. Also visiting have been Pierce Brosnan, Pearl Bailey, Clint Eastwood, and Danny Thomas, none of whom are known to have kicked the jukebox. The Inn was destroyed in the Blue Cut Fire in 2016. The current owners have mentioned rebuilding it, but as of now, there's nothing there.

This is one of the first photos I created with my new camera, a Pentax K-1, which was a joy to use. I've been using Nikons for many years, so finding the controls and everything else was a bit of an adjustment. I photographed up and down Route 66 at night, using Barstow as a home base. During the exposure of this night photo, I illuminated the sign with a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 light painting device.

This is the summit of the Breithorn (4164m) it was my first 4000m peak in Zermatt, Switzerland. Unreal day.
