EU troops have pushed farther into Northern Africa, suffering heavy, heavy losses. The NAR is more aggresive than ever, pushing back attack after attack. Even having inferior weaponry and equipment, they aren't losing much ground and in fact, pushing the EU back in some areas.

The EU isn't helpless though. Through the use of aircraft to bomb key targets they have been able to push forward using ground soldiers. Using this tactic they have been somewhat turning the tide of the battle. Even so, there seems to be an endless stream of ready and able North African soldiers ready to fight.

We are living through unprecedented times of collective suffering; this is a line in the sand where events after the crease will have little resemblance to those before. The streets outside are in turmoil from old human follies and new viral adversaries. Trying to explain these soul-stirring days to myself has been excruciatingly hard. Harder has it been to explain them to my ten-year-old –– and here I was, comically worried about the big sex-ed talk I would need to have with him someday! The world is boiling like the primitive cosmos where the darkness remains unpunctuated; it appears as if there are no beacons in sight.

So, where does one find solace during such malevolent turbulence? Gretel Ehrlich says (in her renowned book), one could find it in open spaces. Well, if one knows where to look, there are plenty of open spaces in a park near us – Yosemite. As you may know, Yosemite is a mental health asylum of some world-class repute. Since obscure times, it has cured numerous suffering souls, including a few luminaries who were primarily lunatics: Charles Weed, John Muir, Ansel Adams, and Fred Olmsted to name a few. It is located geographically in California's heart and spiritually in hearts of million other human beings who could be taxonomized as naturalists, activists, artists, environmentalists, visionaries, or, plain ordinary people, like, yours truly. When I am in Yosemite – or, find Yosemite in me – I perceive peace. You could say, Yosemite's wilderness is my totem of solitude, solace, and hope.

To most, Yosemite’s totem is the Half Dome – a giant granite monolith that stands in congruent humility with its surrounding rocks and clouds. It is unique among all Yosemite domes in having a sheer cliff and a steep vertical face (northwest side), which actually displays a human face in blockprint (a story for another day). Glaciers, time, and light have ebbed and flowed over the humpbacked dome for millions of years, but ‘Tis-sa-ack’ stands proud in deft defiance. The oft-pictured image of Half Dome – the one with the helmet curve, as Ansel put it – is from the West (Glacier point area). From our vantage point the other day, the iconic steward of the park displayed its unglamorous hind side, which features a prominent hump, the eastern sub-dome. In his National Geographic article, William Least Heat-Moon described this view of Half Dome as, “… watching a Shakespearean play from backstage, where old and familiar lines seem different, strange, new”.

Our contemporary times are somewhat similar... old and familiar ways of life now appear ‘different, strange, new’. In his letter to Ansel Adams in 1953, art historian Beaumont Newhall wrote, “In the face of all the present turmoil and unrest and unhappiness… what can a photographer, a writer, a curator do? …To make people aware of the eternal things, or show the relationship of man to nature… is a task that no one should consider insignificant… These are days when eloquent statements are needed”.

Eloquence is not my thing, but here above, you have my statement against everything that attempts to stir darkness in our societies, lives, minds, and hearts.

PS: The title is borrowed from Sylvia Plath’s sonnet Ennui, which was written in 1950s and published in 2006:

The beast in Jamesian grove will never jump,

compelling hero’s dull career to crisis;

and when insouciant angels play God’s trump,

while bored arena crowds for once look eager,

hoping toward havoc, neither pleas nor prizes

shall coax from doom’s blank door lady or tiger.

The God-King of Poena descends from his throne to meet Doog.

This dog could barely stand when we found him, he has a severe case of mange and was covered in fleas, I think that he most likely is heartworm positive with a heavy load. His chances of survival look minimal, but he is off the street now and will be taken care of. Stray animals in Houston’s Third Ward suffer endlessly.

Unloved by some Brussels residents, who consider it disconnected from the center and even suffering from an architecture in the form of a pastry (!), the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Koekelberg is nevertheless one of the key figures of heritage in Brussels. Its art deco style and its many anecdotes give it an ancestral spirit that it would be a shame to miss for both Brussels residents and tourists passing through. Not content with being already the largest basilica in Brussels but also the largest art deco basilica in the world, it is also the fifth largest church in all categories on the planet! With its majestic central dome 33 meters (!) in diameter located 93 meters high and its two round twin towers, it recalls the shape of Saint Paul's Cathedral in London. And for good reason: its architectural style changed during the works! Originally, the project should have adopted a neo-Gothic spirit imagined by the architect Pierre Langerock. His sketches (photo below) envisaged a basilica with seven towers, one of which was 146 meters high! In the aftermath of the First World War, the project seemed outdated and too expensive: the Ghent architect Van Huffel took up the torch and proposed an art deco church. Panoramic views accessible to all audiences are rare in Brussels. The Basilica of Koekelberg (already located on a high plateau) is an exception thanks to its platform located 53 meters high from where visitors can contemplate the city center of Brussels but also the countryside to the north and west of the city. On a clear day, you can even see Saint-Rombaut's Cathedral in Mechelen, even though it is located 25 km away! On the other hand, we were not on the terrace because of persistent fog!

After suffering up to the top of Cinder Cone in Lassen Volcanic National Park, I was finally rewarded with this view on an early September morning. The summit crater of the cinder cone, which is believed to have erupted in 1666, is quite large and offers spectacular 360 degree views of the surrounding landscape. On the left the remnants of a morning inversion linger in a losing battle with the direct sunlight. On the right the Cascade Range’s second most recent eruptive volcano Lassen Peak dominates the surrounding landscape. Views of the 1914-1921 eruptions of that peak would have been quite spectacular from atop Cinder Cone. Scattered small pine trees have been able to hold on up here as the forest wages war to reclaim lands lost to the lava flow including the very top of the cinder cone itself. It’s so hard to ponder as a mere human the Juan de Fuca Plate being forced down beneath the North American Plate, where some of it melts and buoyantly rises to the surface in a huge arc from here to southwestern British Columbia forming the spectacular Cascades. The world is full of wonders.

We should realize that self-centeredness is the source of all suffering, and that thinking of others is the source of all happiness. ~ Dalai Lama

Artist is ever eaten up by insatiable desire to achieve perfection which is mission impossible.

I'm suffering for these low down shots I took in the grass last night, Something bit the back of my hand, I don't know what it was, my hand swelled up something awful last night and I was hoping the swelling would go over night but it hasn't, it's gradually got worse today I can't see the knuckles on my hand even my wrist has lost it's shape now and it's so hot stingy and itchy...it's driving me potty, I want to scratch it and scratch it, I really hope it goes down soon.

Solitude is a slow death for those with love to give.

.

On Thursday evening, Puki had felt very ill. He had very strong pains, he was crying ,he was screaming, complaining very much. I had to take urgent nights at the veterinary clinic. They did blood and urine tests, x-rays. They had to anesthize and insert the catheter and they also put the phlebo. After 2 days of phlebo and other treatments, today we had the results of the exams. Poor Puki renal block, there are formed of the crystals, sand (kidney stones), a big inflammation, with so much blood in the bladder. Now i take it home and I have to keep under control, continue with antibiotic and antinflammatory treatment

He is still very suffering, but at least he has stopped complaining and is trying to eat a little

On Monday, he is waiting for another veterinary visit to see if he is healing.

The scene on the bridge today. We all do these things in our lifetime, and all of it is observed by older people off to the side, and those older people are wondering, "Why is he doing that thing? Why did I do it once as well?"

++++++++++++++++++++++++

This was inspired by a mechanism on 2in 1 Bricking's YouTube channel.

We are living in times of great destruction of the world as we know it, earth changes, fires, floods, earthquakes.

Here alone in Australia we sit in horror at the extent of the fires rampage across the country. Unprecedented fires and weather in the history of our existence (well what is on record)

Whilst horrific - the earth we live on has always been full of cyclic changes.

Ancient cities have been discovered under the sea, we are naive to think that the world as we know it will remain the same.

What continents exist now may no longer exist. What coast line exists now is slowly being swallowed up by the ocean.

Volcanic eruptions are changing the face of the planet as are earthquakes - the list is long.

We cannot stop the force of Mother Nature. We live on a planet that has always endured such destruction.

We have pole shifts taking place - all kinds of catastrophic events happening across the Globe. We are but a spit in the ocean to the wide Galaxies that we know of. Yet we think we are precious in some way.

I cannot help but wonder why I was so drawn to create this "Black Winged Goddess" let alone give her the name of Black Winged Goddess. But I was drawn, my soul was pushing me for weeks with a "slight vision" of what I needed to create. It now makes total sense to me why I was so drawn to create The Black Winged Goddess, given the state of our world and humanity.

My soul as always when I listen guides me with powerful messages and reminds me to just 'be' to accept 'what is'.

We may not like the current state of our world but it is what it is and all we can do is stay strong within ourselves and hold the power of 'love' in our hearts despite seeing so much being played out on the planet.

Kali (Hindu) - was known as a deity of the Fearsome Demon destroying Goddess who represents death and rebirth - so her name means "Black One".

We can never truly comprehend or understand the power of mother nature - we have abused her for centuries, taken her for granted and she is a living breathing consciousness so powerful that we dare not go up against here.

In recent years we have seen the influence of the feminine energy on earth which for eons has been dominated by the male energy.

So it makes complete sense to me that we are witness to so much destruction on the planet.

We are witness to the destruction of our societies as we know it, breakdown of families, law, politics.

So much of humanity is at war with the 'system', the injustices, and the lack of balance within our society. The homeless, the abused, the forgotten souls, the mental health issues that seem to have become rampant, the rise of Corporate wealth while humanity is trapped in slavery. We have learnt nothing as a humanity over the past how many hundred years?

In order for rebirth, for new growth, a culling needs to take place - hence the energy of the Black Winged Goddess she is both the Destroyer and the Giver of New Life.

We have elected to be here at this time on the planet - despite the suffering we witness or endure - I know at a higher level it is absolutely necessary for real change to take place.

Our world is a very different place to the one we have known - and whilst we have believed we have had a safe and reasonable planet in which to live, the reality is much Evil has existed and people have been brainwashed to the point of being zombies. There has been so much suppression imposed upon humanity even to the extreme of vaccinations and fluoride to our water supply. All of these chemicals act as suppressants to our brain! It has been a deliberate agenda of the existing power on earth. Their agenda has always been to rule, control and suppress the populous.

Humanity is awakening and with this will be uproar, dis - ease, a culling if you like. It is time for humanity to step out of fear and into their true power which is within each and every one of us.

New growth, new beginnings but not before the dismantling of the old - it has to be this way.

These times we are living through were written in history.

So I have created "The Black Winged Goddess" she is available in different styles, inside a Dome with beautiful etched glass or stand alone. She will rotate or can be static.

She is available on MP in the Stand Alone version (rotating) or can be seen in world at my store.

I hope you enjoy and embrace 'The "Black Winged Goddess' and rather be in fear of her - understand she brings 'New Life" but first the old has to die for the new to be born.

How appropriate for a New Year of 2020 fast approaching.

Interestingly and unconsciously I created 4 of these Black Winged Goddesses.

The year 2020 equates to the number 4 in Numerology.

The #4 represents a Universal energy. (see below for a deeper understanding of the #4)

The # 2 - Is the most feminine and often underestimated when it comes to power and strength. She is always gentle, tactful, diplomatic, forgiving and understanding. She likes to keep peace and likes to avoid confrontation. # 2 is the survivor and extremely resilient force. Her shape looks as though she is bent back on a knee with head bowed in humility and service. However when enough pressure is applied to the # 2 energy. Some would perceive her as weak and powerless due to this servitude shape. However never underestimate the power behind #2 because she represents the power (double) #1 who is the all powerful warrior who will shake and destroy no matter what. So #2 brings the balance but never underestimate the power of 2 Energy.

The #4 Energy in more detail

The 4 is without a doubt masculine, reflecting strength and stability. His chief characteristics are dependability, productivity, punctuality and obedience. He is trustworthy, patient, conventional and a traditionalist.

Tend to be rule followers. 4 is the area of sciences, upholding the law (such as Government and the military). The #4 represents Disciplined, systematic, Dependable, Strong. Loyal

Four is the basis of all solid objects. Four points are used in constructing the simplest solid and thus four is the number symbolizing the way of construction. In many religions, four is seen as the number for earth, and representing the four elements, Air Earth, Water and Fire.

At its extreme 4's can tend to overreact to violence.

So 2020 seems to have more challenges ahead and I suspect we will be seeing more uprising across the planet (#2 energy) with totalitarianism (#4 energy) being played out like never before. Perhaps more of what the world has witnessed in Hong Kong this year.

It is as if the two energies Masculine & Feminine are battling against one another. But at the same time I cannot help but feel and acknowledge UNITY - and this is what I will remain focused upon during the year ahead. We must stand united. We are after all 'one humanity'

We are without doubt living in very challenging times.

May peace be with you!

"So they took Jesus; and carrying the cross by himself, he went out to what is called The Place of the Skull, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha. There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, with Jesus between them. Pilate also had an inscription written and put on the cross. It read, 'Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.'"

- The Gospel of John 19:17-19.

The crucifix used in these photographs today was carved in Papua New Guinea. I picked it up on a return visit to that country during the 1980s. It has been in my study ever since. I love its misshapen workmanship, because it is the work of an artist who deeply loved the one known to Christians everywhere as, "The Suffering Servant".

The title comes from Isaiah chapter 53, and Jesus is seen as fulfilling the prophecies related to Messiah. But who would have thought of a King who became a servant and died with criminals in the cruelest of Roman executions?

There are many interpretations of this event during Passover 2000 years ago, but people of faith would all agree that something of cosmic significance took place. Here in death (the defeat of the flesh or material realm) is sown the seed of Life Eternal (the realm of the Spirit). "O death where is your sting? O grave, where your victory?" wrote that man of spirit, Paul, convert to the risen Christ on the Damascus road.

The mistake we all make is to believe that defeat in this life cannot be a victory in the Life to Come. "Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies," Jesus said, "it cannot bring forth fruit." The Kingdom of God works by the 'upside down principle'. First death and putting off the corruptible world, and then comes Life incorruptible. First the Darkness and then the Dawn.

Seek first this Kingdom Jesus said, but don't expect it to be an easy path. Oh no! The way of the Kingdom of God is the way of suffering and death, for therein lies our salvation. Break free, detach from this doomed world, for every success here will not last and is nothing compared to the Eternal Realm which is ours to come.

Let the Spirit of God release your soul from the prison of the flesh. Learn to travel light. An early community of Christian Gnostics even had a lovely story of "The Laughing Saviour". Whilst Jesus the man on the cross was suffering and crying, "My God, why have you forsaken me?" (a familiar cry down through the ages), his inner spirit was laughing at death, for he knew he had the key to Life that conquers death.

If you want to be inspired this Easter, listen to what I consider is the greatest piece of passion music ever written:

J.S. Bach - St John Passion BWV 245

www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMf9XDQBAaI

Bach literally touched the face of God. He is one of those few composers (Mozart and Beethoven the other two) who tapped into the actual music of the spheres. Their genius is beyond genius. It is the divine incarnation of heavenly music.

Scorpio Armament: Samsara. Together they represent the cycle of suffering, death and rebirth.

One of the thirteen Zodiarchs, powerful Great Beings/deities who represent the star signs and their constellations, chosen by a powerful and mysterious being known as the First.

Nyctoria represents Scorpio, the eighth star sign, having ascended from her mortal form as a being of pure shadow by confronting her inner darkness in destroying her progenitor, Makuta Teridax.

The First granted Nyctoria the powers of the Red Star and stewardship of the cycle of death and rebirth.

The extra title by her name is a reference to Hyperion, the Titan who fathered Helios (Sun), Selene (Moon), and Eos (Dawn) in Greek mythology. And, of course, astrology and space stuff are themes here as well.

Sagrada Familia, Barcelona

- Suffering of Jesus by Gaudi, Sagrada Familia

"The scenes sculpted into the façade may be divided into three levels, which ascend in an 'S' form and reproduce the Via Crucis of Christ.[2] The lowest level depicts scenes from Jesus' last night before the crucifixion, including The Last Supper, Kiss of Judas, Ecce Homo, and the Sanhedrin Trial of Jesus. The middle level portrays the Calvary, or Golgotha, of Christ, and includes The Three Marys, Saint Veronica, Saint Longinus, and a hollow-face illusion of Christ. In the third and final level the Death, Burial and the Resurrection of Christ can be seen. A bronze figure situated on a bridge creating a link between the towers of Saint Bartholomew and Saint Thomas represents the Ascension of Jesus.[35] " (jesus d natzaret) - wikipedia

"The Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família (Catalan pronunciation: [səˈɣɾaðə fəˈmiɫiə]; English: Basilica and Expiatory Church of the Holy Family) is a large Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, designed by Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926). Although incomplete, the church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site,[5] and in November 2010 Pope Benedict XVI consecrated and proclaimed it a minor basilica,[6][7][8] as distinct from a cathedral, which must be the seat of a bishop....and an anticipated completion date of 2026, the centenary of Gaudí's death."

there is suffering in life, and there are defeats. The scars of the suffering is evident on all of us. But it's better to lose some of the battles in the struggles for your dreams than to be defeated without ever knowing what you're fighting for.

A few of my Flickr contacts have been posting shots to relate the extremes of their weather so thought I'd do the same. We suffered here today. I even had to switch to short sleeves. High of 75F (24C) and wind chills at 75F. Horrible. Jasper and I trudged through the sunshine to our lemon tree where my wife got a shot of us. I know, I know, I won't be gloating from about June to September, but AZ has been about like today for the past month. Best winter yet.

Sorry this is a late upload, I have not been able to use my computer due to it suffering faults but I am now able to upload photos from my SD card to Flickr via my iPad. So, I bring to you these photos of Stagecoach Gold (Folkestone) 15185 working on Wave Services 100/101/102 in September, which is extremely uncommon to see and to my knowledge is the first time this had actually happened. At the time this photograph was taken, September 2016, free wifi, air chill and comfy leather seats were a luxury for passengers travelling on this route, although now these are more common features to have on the brand new Enviro 400 MMC buses used on the routes! These Gold buses are normally, and meant to be used primarily on Service 16 between Hythe, Folkestone and Canterbury.

Fleet No: 15185

Registration: YN64 AKP

Chassis: Scania N230UD

Bodywork: ADL Enviro 400

Livery: Stagecoach Gold 16 Hythe - Canterbury

Route: Wave 100 Dover - Folkestone - Hastings

Notes: Very rare working for this vehicle on this route.

Suffering makes no distinctions It reaches even where life hasn’t yet begun from zero.
