13-05-2023: turbulent sky in the evening.
After years of suffering, finally the ghost/temporary lake of Cerknica (it is a karstic lake as better specified in many photos of the past) returns to cover, over the long term, a vast surface of its large basin, which measures 40km2 and can be covered with water almost totally, something that hasn't happened since March 2018, roughly.
In these cases it becomes, by far, the largest lake in Slovenija (up to almost 4x Lake Bohinj), although with a low average depth, mainly between 0.5 and 2m, facilitating rich vegetation and aquatic fauna composed of still water fish (the biggest are Carp, Chub, Tench and Pike) and a large variety of amphibians.
The lake is also rich in poultry fauna, in particular storks and gray herons, and many migrant species.
Unfortunately in 2022, for the first time in its history (those who follow my photostream probably remember it, with "my area" shots inserted in strictly chronological order), the drying up of all the not embanked large part (the embanked part represents just 0.1% of the entire lake basin and was in any case reduced by 90%), caused an incalculable death of fish, while a significant part of amphibians survived by digging deep burrows in the mud.
This is just to say that you can't have "the wine bottle full and be drunk", as people would like expecting to be in the shade of lush vegetation wanting sun for 365 days a year.
It is ONLY thanks to my beloved "bad weather" that a healthy and flourishing nature can be appreciated.
Suffering from loneliness is one thing, being isolated is another, wanting to enjoy moments alone, another thing.

Dionysus also spelled Dionysos, also called Bacchus, a nature god of fruitfulness and vegetation, especially known as a god of wine and ecstasy.
Wine was a religious focus in the cult of Dionysus and was his earthly incarnation. Wine could ease suffering, bring joy, and inspire divine madness.
If he somehow came to Pyles, he would probably like to be hosted here, with the green vine deeply rooted next to the blue door of the old stone house.

No, I am not suffering from severe hallucinations. Maybe I do, but that has nothing to do with the title of this photo. This designates the rock that stands here in front of us, the goose rock. Incidentally, the stone bird is flanked in the background by mt. Lilienstein (left) and Königstein Fortress (right).
The photo was taken very early in the morning, which can be seen from the fact that the street lights in the village in the valley are still on.
It promises to be a great day here, in the beautiful Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
Nein, Ich leide nicht unter schweren Halluzinationen. Vielleicht tue ich es ja doch, dass hat dann aber nichts mit dem Titel dieses Fotos zu tun. Dieser bezeichnet, den Felsen, der hier vor uns steht, den Gansfelsen. Der steinerne Vogel wird übrigens im Hintergrund vom Lilienstein (link) und der Festung Königstein (rechts) flankiert.
Das Foto entstand sehr früh am Morgen, was man daran erkennt, dass die Strassenbeleuchtung in dem Dorf im Tal noch eingeschaltet ist.
Es verspricht ein großartiger Tag zu werden hier, im wunderschönen Elbsandsteingebirge.

Despite suffering from a bad cold I was one of the first earlier today to drive on the new bypass motorway around Bad Oeynhausen. The official opening was celebrated Friday, today the track was opened for traffic, so far only in westbound direction. Seeing the millions of love locks spread all over this beautiful city one might end up thinking that we live in a world full of love yet we know very well that on this planet the things that we can most find at every step are violence, hate, war, suffering hunger and loneliness.
Does that happen because love itself is nothing but an illusion or because we unconsciously choose to love or even accept the existence of only those people that can wake our senses, those people that have: the same blood, the same skin colour or the same physical and psychological traits and not give a dam about the rest of the world?
Is it really the capacity for love of the human race so limited or we are just allowing discriminating ancestral patterns and fears to control our lives and our feelings?
And if this is the case, will it even change before we ruin our own chances of survival as a specie through this mad pursuit of destroying everyone that is different?

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas! I was with family on Christmas Eve and sang at four Church Services on Christmas Day! I'm still on antibiotics but I was thankful that my voice got me though. Quite a long day but having been the first time to be able to sing in Church after two years of Covid was all worth it.

Today, I let Barney go.
He was in kidney failure & felt very poorly & tired. It's the hardest thing I ever did, but my dear old faithful friend passed away gently, while I stroked his ears one last time & I'm glad he's not suffering anymore. Barney gave me 15 years of joy & love & I will always be unbelievably thankful that he found his way to me when he did. He is loved so much & missed terribly. Such a good, good boy.

After suffering a theft inside the house while we were inside, having lost all my equipment, a lot of editing work, and almost faith in the human being, I find myself again wanting to create from the unique that I have left; my raws backup.
It is sad that what for me was a great investment for years, someone is going to sell it for a couple of doses of drugs, and the next day they will be executing another robbery while it will take me a long time to have a camera again .. .
Life challenges us to keep going despite all kinds of shocks like the waves that hit the coast. We are still standing and moving on.
