J'ai trouvé la petite nyctale grace à une autre superbe Lifer cette mémorable journée. Ce lifer m'avait fait courir jusqu'à la ville de Québec sans succès mais j'y avais rencontré un bon et très sympathique ami Daniel Dupont qui m'avait guidé dans ses endroits de prédilections avec une patience d'ange. La nyctale de Tengmalm que je n'avais pas remarquée aux abords du sentier de ce petit boisé très densément peuplé de petits feuillus. Sur mon chemin du retour nos yeux se sont croisés et c'est elle qui m'a fait découvrir la Petite nyctale qui dormait pas très loin de cet endroit.

I found the little owl thanks to another superb Lifer this memorable day. This lifer had made me run all the way to Québec City without success but I had the chance to met a good and very Flickr friend Daniel Dupont who as guided me in his favorite places with the patience of an angel. The Lifer in question is the Boreal Owl (Tengmalm's) that I had not noticed near the path on my way in this small wooded area very densely populated with small hardwoods. On my way back our eyes cross and it was here who made me discover the little Northern Saw-whet Owl who was sleeping not far from that place.

La proie est capturée par surprise et le martin-pêcheur remonte aussitôt à la surface.
De retour sur son perchoir, le martin-pêcheur assomme vigoureusement sa proie contre le sol ou une branche puis la place adroitement dans son bec, dans le sens de la longueur, et l'avale tête la première, de façon à ce que les nageoires n'opposent aucune résistance. Parfois, les circonstances l'obligent à lancer le poisson en l'air pour le rattraper dans la bonne position.

Il faut parfois faire preuve d'imagination et ruser pour attirer ce grand timide d'oiseau qui réside souvent à couvert , pas de secret et c'est par le gosier qu'il faut le séduire . Une vielle branche fera l'affaire , une perceuse sans fil armée d'une bonne mèche à bois et faire quelques cavités pour y mettre discrètement les noisettes décortiquées ou les glands , ensuite se planquer et surveiller de loin si la cantine a du succès et si le piège fonctionne , c'est juste une question de patience car tôt ou tard il y aura toujours des clients ( Geai , Sittelle , Mésange , Pic etc .... )

I folded each of them with an uncut 30x30cm colored foil. Their final size is big enough to be a great table decoration (more or less about 15cm height)

MG- 's Magna, introduced in 1931, was produced for only two years but it was very popular for its time with 1.250 sold.
Today it is a very rare sports car.
This car integrated many advanced features into its design, including an unusually low chassis and MG-'s first 6 cylinder engine with overhead camshaft, which offered much higher performance and smooth operation than the 4 cylinder M- type Midget.
In the 1930s, this type enjoyed great succes in rally events, and from this period many famous Grand Prix drivers cut their teeth on this F2 Magna.
The F2 Magna's were among the unsung sports machines of their era.
The racing monster possesed a 1.271 cc 6 cylinder SOHC inline engine with twin carburators and had a power output of 97 HP, a very big power for this time and especially for that engine size, while he achieved a top speed of 110 km/h.
It was equiped with 4- wheel wired drum brakes and a part of this is visible next to the right front wheel.
In 2016,. one of these rare models was discovered as a barn find and sold for € 116.00,00 after being restored to its original conditions........

Les deux surprises de la journée : un autre tempête de neige de plus de 25 cm et un épervier de cooper qui nous donne une petite session de photos en fin de journée
ce fut vraiment très occupé aujourd’hui à nos mangeoires pendant toute la journée avec plus d’une bonne centaine de tarins des pins accompagnés de sizerins flammés et plusieurs autres . Nous avons observé un total de 23 espèces . Pas surprenant d’avoir eu la visite de l ‘épervier de cooper en fin de journée . Il a essayé d’ attraper un oiseau à deux reprises mais sans succès avant de se percher sur cette buche . Heureusement on avais anticipé qu il reviendrais et notre caméra était prêt.

The manufacturer of the MG was originally a dealer of the Morris Motor Company, and this dealer began independently producing sports cars in 1924.
The basis of which was to lower the chassis of a Morris Cowly while adding a sporty body.
With this design named "MG", an abbreviation of "Morris Garage" the manufacturer became synonymous with the term "sports cars" and this brand name was promoted through many succesful racing events.
Due to the enormous succes with their sports cars, MG outgrew its home for three times, but in 1935 all of the MG's holdings were sold to the car manufacturer "Moris Motor Company".
MG would never be the same after that as fewer new models were made and participation in racing was discontinued.
The real death blow to MG was inflicted by British Leyland which squandered the illustrious name in the 1970s because it only produced characterless cars and stopped putting the famous MG- emblem on their cars.
Since 2011, Chinese carmaker "SAIC- Motors" became the owner of the MG brand name, and in 2011 the characterless MG-MG-6 reappeared in the United Kingdom.
This was followed in 2019 by the MG-ZS-EV SUV, but this model is also one of a dozen in a dozen........

Puisque j'ai la chance et le bonheur d'avoir beaucoup de vie sauvage et surtout d'oiseaux chez moi et au alentour ça attire automatiquement les prédateurs...
L'année passée, j'ai creusé la neige et installé ma petite tente camouflage que j'ai adapté avec un drap blanc et des épingle à couche afin d'essayer de me fondre dans le décor. Je voulais essayer de capturer des oiseaux au vol avec mon nouveau boîtier R5 et aussi être plus discret au cas où elle ( la Pie-grièche ) viendrait qu'à se présenter autour de mon installation # 2 de mangeoires sur les rives du lac là ou la lumière est favorable une partie de la journée et qui est son endroit de prédilection pour la chasse aux petits oiseaux pour elle. J'ai eu l'occasion d'observer cette superbe Pie-grièche à plusieurs reprises lors de mes sessions de photographie, elle a même attaqué des Gros-bec errant avec succès à ma grande surprise bien que ces proies favorites était beaucoup plus petites. Ce que je peu vous affirmez avec certitude c'est que c'est très rapide et très farouche comme oiseau de proie...
P.s Si vous vous demandez pourquoi je n'affiche pas plus sur Flickr et que j'avais délaissé le média et bien ce matin j'ai seulement 0.06 Mbps de Download et 0.04 Mbps de Upload chez moi... C'est long en maudit afficher une photo et commenter vos photos chaque jour...

Since I am very lucky to have a lot of wild life and especially birds at home and around it automatically it attracts predators...
Last year, I dug the snow and set up my little camouflage tent, which I adapted with a bed white sheet and diaper pins to hold it to try to blend in with the snow. I wanted to try to capture birds in flight with my new R5 camera and also be more discreet in case it (the Northern Shrike) just happened to show up around my feeders installation # 2 on the shores of the lake where the light is favorable part of the day and the favorite hunting spot for small birds for the Shrike. I had the opportunity to observe this superb Northern Shrike several times during my photography sessions. It even attacked Evening Grosbeaks successfully to my surprise although here favorite preys were much smaller birds and mouses. What I can tell you with certainty is that it is very fast and very skittish bird of prey...
Ps If you're wondering why I don't post more on Flickr and that I had neglected the media, well this morning I only have 0.06 Mbps of Download and 0.04 Mbps of Upload at home... It's a long time to post and comment on your photos every day...
“Follega Molen” te Laag-Keppel
In 1968 bedacht men een plan om de oude watermolen weer op waterkracht te laten draaien. Hiervoor werd een spinnenkopmolen uit Follega verplaatst naar een plekje langs de Oude IJssel in Laag-Keppel. De Follega Molen moest het overtollige water uit de molenkolk malen. Het werd geen groot succes. De capaciteit van deze kleine spinnenkopmolen bleek onvoldoende om de watermolen weer optimaal te laten draaien. Maar een fraai gezicht is het wel: een Friese molen in het Gelderse landschap.

In 1968 a plan was devised to run the old water mill on water power again. For this purpose, a spider head mill from Follega was moved to a spot along the Oude IJssel in Laag-Keppel. The Follega Mill had to grind the excess water out of the mill chamber. It was not a great success. The capacity of this small spinning head mill turned out to be insufficient to allow the water mill to run optimally again. But it is a beautiful sight: a Frisian windmill in the Gelderland landscape.
Hi guys, I am back again and will try to catch up slowly. I have my brandnew knee. The operation, although very painfull, went well, and appears to have been a succes so far. I am recovering very well by doing the excercises the physio gave me regularly. This shot was still taken before the operation. It will be a while before I can go out again.

This brand was named after the Roman goddess Minerva, the goddess of wisdom and arts, and her image adorned every radiator cap on the Minervas as a small work of art.
Many Minervas were soon exported to England with which heads of state and others famous people were transported.
The brand became increasingly popular with the wealthy part of the world's population, and many members of the royal houses of Romania, Thailand and India, among others, drove them.
Over time, the automobiles were also exported to America and Australia and were a huge succes in these countries.
Thus, even the American car manufacturer Henri Ford drove around in a Minerva because of its famous "Sleeve Valva System" of the Minerva's engines.
This engine system was executed without the conventional valve system.
This system made it possible to significantly reduce the excessive noise produced by the conventional engines of the time.
Minerva automobiles were a very formidable competitor to Rolls Royce, Isotta-Franchine, Hispano-Suiza and Duesenburg, the other greats of this period.
However, the great Belgian automobile brand Minerva did not survive the Great economic crisis of 1930 and went bankrupt in 1934.....
The automobile in the photo is the 1921 Minerva 00-Tourer with a Van der Plas bodywork and was very popular with the world's wealthy population and this model was driven privately by Henri Ford.
The engine was equipped with a 6 inline cylinders and had a capacity of 5.355 cc and an output pf 30 HP and of course it is equipped with the "Sleeve Valve System".
The "Sleeve Valve System" is a four-stroke engine that does not use inlet and exhaust valves and a camshaft, but sliding or rotating shutoff slide in the cylinder wall.
Therefor , the great advantage of this system is undoubtedly its noiseless operation.
However, there are also disadvantages to it and this concerns that it needs a complicated construction and has less direct cooling.
A still working example with a complete original engine is very, very rare and is one of the most sought after examples for colectors.
BASILIQUE NOTRE DAME
L’église Notre Dame de la Victoire fut édifiée à la fin du XIXème siècle, quand le Maire Félix Martin entreprit de “transformer” Saint-Raphaël, non sans succès.
La croissance de la ville fut telle que la vieille église San Rafeu ne pouvait guère plus accueillir les nouveaux citoyens. L’Abbé Bernard, curé de 1882 à 1890, confia alors la construction d’un nouveau lieu de culte à l’architecte Pierre Aublé, camarade de promotion de Félix Martin. D’origine Lyonnaise, et grand amateur du style Byzantin - Mauresque, Pierre Aublé imagina la basilique de Saint-Raphaël selon cette inspiration. On retrouve d’ailleurs un dôme très caractéristique de ce type d’édifices, largement inspiré de celui de Sainte-Sophie à Istanbul.
On découvre également en façade une représentation de l’archange Raphaël, symbole de la commune (voir “la légende de Tobie”). Construite en majeure partie avec du grès rose de l’Estérel, elle occupe une surface totale de 850 m² pour une hauteur de 35m.
L’église Notre Dame fut inaugurée en 1887, et baptisée ainsi en hommage à une célèbre bataille maritime où les forces chrétiennes mirent en déroute la flotte ottomane, le 5 octobre 1571. Le Vatican l’a élevée à la dignité de Basilique en 2004, la deuxième que compte désormais le diocèse de Fréjus-Toulon avec celle de Saint-Maximin.

Der Engelmarkt war ein großer Erfolg, obwohl Petrus uns zeitweilig mit Regen beschenkt hat. Der TVsender RBB hat uns besucht und in der Berliner Abendschau einen Bericht gesendet hat.

The Mirabeau bridge spans the Durance river at the edge of 4 departments: Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var and Vaucluse. It is an ancient crossing point which has given rise to many constructions since the 15th century.
We can notably see 2 pillars vestiges of a first suspension bridge built in 1835 and destroyed during the First World War.
A new 175m suspension bridge with a single span replaced it in 1935. During the 2nd World War, this bridge was bombarded without success for 3 days by Allied aviation in August 1944 which wanted to delay the retreat of the German tanks. The resistance fighters finally blew it up on August 17, 1944.
The suspension bridge was rebuilt in 1947, and will be replaced by the current bridge in 1990.

Le pont de Mirabeau
Le pont de Mirabeau enjambe la Durance en bordure de 4 départements : Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var et Vaucluse. C'est un point de passage ancien qui a donné lieu à de nombreux ouvrages depuis le 15ème siècle.
On peut notamment voir 2 piliers vestiges d'un premier pont suspendu construit en 1835 et détruit pendant la première guerre mondiale.
Un nouveau pont suspendu de 175 m d'une travée unique l'avait remplacé en 1935. Durant la 2ème guerre mondiale, ce pont sera bombardé sans succès pendant 3 jours par l'aviation alliée en août 1944 qui voulait retarder la retraite des chars allemands. Les résistants le feront finalement sauter le 17 août 1944.
Le pont suspendu est reconstruit en 1947, et sera remplacé en 1990 par le pont actuel.

Gorges de la Jonte (Cévennes National Park) - Lozère - Occitanie - France
The gorges of the Jonte between the causse Méjean (Lozère) and the causse Noir (Aveyron) were a privileged place of reintroduction of the vultures at the beginning of the 80s.
At this time, the Cévennes National Park and the LPO (League for the Protection of Birds) with the Fonds d'intervention des rapaces (FIR) implemented the reintroduction of the Griffon Vulture on the site of the cliffs of the Jonte, around the ravine of Cassagnes.
After the success of this reintroduction followed those of the Cinereous Vultures in 1992 and the Bearded Vultures in 2012.
Today these three species have recolonized the cliffs that overlook the Jonte from a height of between 300 and 450m and we can observe them all year long evolving in this superb environment !

Last week I focused on the courtship behavior of some Great Crested Grebe in the pond/ditch behind my house. In this courtship process the males try to get the attention of the females. Often there are fights between the males, sometimes resulting in injury and even in death of one of the males.
Many times I've taken my camera to the deck on the ditch behind my house anticipating courtship behavior or a fight between male competitors. Almost always without succes, until last night.
While inside my house all of a sudden there was a lot of noise and looking out my window I saw two male GCG fighting with each other just next to the deck. A female GCG was observing the whole spectacle at close distance.
While prepared to take some shots at distance (long lens attached to the camera) I grabbed my camera and ran to the deck to try and capture the fight. Laying flat on my deck and adrenaline to the max, I managed to get some reasonable shots with a way too long lens...... Preparation is key and next time I should have another camera with shorter lens available.....

Très belle surprise de découvrir cette rare oie à tête barrée au milieu d'un petit groupe d'oies rieuses en face de la route sur digue près de Chantecoq.
L'Oie à tête barrée est une espèce nicheuse d'Asie Centrale, essentiellement en Chine et Mongolie. Elle migre en hiver vers l'Asie du Sud.
L'espèce a été introduite en Suède dans les années 30 sans succès de reproduction. Dans les années 50 et 60, elle niche régulièrement en Norvège. Il existe aujourd'hui quelques individus reproducteurs en France et au Royaume-Uni. Des populations un peu plus nombreuses résident en Allemagne, Belgique et Pays-Bas sans jamais dépasser la centaine d'individus par pays.(source :oiseaux.net)

Very nice surprise to discover this rare bar-headed goose with in the middle of a small group of greater white-fronted geese opposite the road on dike near Chantecoq.
The Bar-headed Goose is a nesting species of Central Asia, mainly in China and Mongolia. It migrates in winter to South Asia. The species was introduced to Sweden in the 1930s without successful reproduction. In the 1950s and 1960s, it regularly nested in Norway. There are now a few breeding individuals in France and the UK. A slightly larger population is resident in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, never exceeding a hundred individuals per country.(oiseaux.net)

Ça fait bien 3 ans que j'essaie de faire une capture descente de ce superbe Passerin indigo mais sans succès... Ma sortie ornithologique du 26 juin 2018 avec mon ami Épicure était par ailleur une sortie qui visait justement ce passerin. Mais après la rencontre d'un superbe couple d'Indigo à Hawkesbury en matinée qui s'était montré très frileux à mon approche j'avais baissé les bras... Sur le chemin de retour quel ne fut pas ma surprise de rencontrer un beau mâle Indigo sur un garde-fou sur le long de la route à Montebello! Wow pas une minute à perdre car il était déjà 20h00 j'étais dans sur le versant ombragé d'une montagne et le soleil avait complètement disparue de l'horizon... J'ai très vite constaté que je ne pourrais pas effectuer mes captures à main levée car si je voulais du détail et un ISO raisonnable je devais donc sortir le tripier dans l'espoir que l'oiseau ne disparaisse pas de sa perche. Mais je suis chanceux il est occupé à faire sa sérénade de superbes chants et ne semble pas se préoccuper de la présence...

It's been 3 years or summer that I trying to make a descent shot of this beautiful Indigo Bunting Bunting but without success ... My ornithological outing of June 26, 2018 with my friend Epicure was the main gold, capturing this Bunting. But after meeting of a superb little couple from Indigo Bunting in Hawkesbury Ontario in the morning and not getting a god shot at them, I gave up ... On the way back home at night, to my great surprise I saw a handsome Indigo male on a railing along the road in Montebello Town! Wow not a minute to lose because it was already 20h00 and I was in the shady side of a mountain, the sun had completely disappeared from the horizon were I was... I quickly found out that I could not make my shots freehanded because if I wanted details and a reasonable ISO I had to use the tripe in the hope that the bird did not disappear from his perch will installing. But I'm lucky he is busy doing his serenade with beautiful songs and does not seem to care about the presence...

Un lieu magique, une vue splendide, nous sommes bien sûr la plage de la ville Vík (Vík í Mýrdal) située sur la côte sud de l'Islande (Ísland).
Au pied de la montagne, Reynisfjall se trouve dans son prolongement des stacks nommés Reynisdrangar.
Une légende raconte que les stacks se seraient formés lorsque deux trolls auraient trainés un trois-mâts jusqu'au rivage sans succès et se transformèrent en aiguilles de roche au lever du Soleil.
