Something else I'm working on..
I use ultra-cheap metal 'floral rods' I bought at Walmart to get a rough idea for what I want rollcages, rocksliders, and other tube-accessories to look like before bending copper/aluminum/styrene rod (saves time and money!).
The beds were made of sheet styrene scored with a scribing tool to make the square quilted pattern. They were then covered with adhesive metal foil. The pillows were carved from styrene rod and painted dark blue. The floor was hand brushed with True North brand's Dark Tan enamel which went on very smooth leaving no brush strokes. The center area will be covered by a disc of styrene sheet painted flat tan.
Piping Technology & Products, Inc. manufactured high temperature rotational and axial stop insulated supports for styrene lines in a petrochemical complex. The supports have an overall outside diameter of 58" and are capable of handling temperatures up to 1500°F. They are fabricated from a combination of carbon steel for the top and stainless steel for the bottom. The hot shoes include Belleville washers, an Inconel 800HT rotational insert assembly, and high density fire temperature insulation.

Kit originally built between 1982-1985; repainted in 2001.

This kit is painted after the first F-101 built, housed in a museum in Pueblo, CO. Believe it or not, my dad purchased this plane in 1976. After receiving some books in 2009, I discovered that the paint scheme is incorrect; however, all I had to go on was what I found on the website. 1/144 styrene plastic kit. It was stored at the Pueblo/Weisbrod Air Museum in Pueblo, Colorado from 1976 until March, 2010, when it was moved by the Evergreen Space and Air Museum in McMinnville, Oregon. You will soon be able to see it on display there.
cc? I am thinking of printing this one on Styrene as an example of my 10x20 storyboards for clients.
A simple box structure was made from 0.040 sheet styrene and the suspension arms were added to the ends. I'm just making this stuff up as I go, along, so there were some miscalculations and errors, but I think it will work. The kit wheel wells will be slotted to allow the new chassis to be slid in place..
It took some pondering to figure out what to use for the corners...then I remembered I had a 4x8 sheet of styrene in the closet.

Build update on the MU/TH/UR 6000 "MOTHER" Chamber for the Nostromo - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Rough images but they show the interior frame build (walls) is complete and I'm beginning to work on the ceiling. The flower-like design will be attached to clear acrylic so natural light can pass through. The ceiling you see in this image will drop much further down. More to come! :) #alien #nostromo #MUTHUR6000 #scratchbuild #modelbuild #diorama
For some reason this kit had two left hand air intake covers. I made a new one for the right side from styrene.

I built this kit when I was a child, somewhere between ages 10-12. Over the years, parts got lost and I had always wanted to display it, but it just didn't look good.
A couple of years back, I found the same kit on E-bay that had been started by someone. It, too, was missing parts; fortunately, between the two kits, I was able to put a complete one together. The decals were in very poor shape and many of them (including the SAC emblem) had to be "patched" together.

Built of vacuformed sheet styrene on hand-sculpted bucks, this project started with a full-body lifecast in May of 2002 and I finished my first suit two days before Halloween. The following year I made another one for a friend. In 2004 we wore them again.
The helmets were made by Don Post, hence the slightly different color.
I used some bondo and styrene to fill in large gaps and widen an old Lockheed jet model. I don't know where the jet came from, but it wasn't built or painted very well, so I scrapped it as a donor. I'll likely leave the rear open with the engine exposed under a rollcage. Honestly the wheels were my inspiration to build a model like this.
nozzles of thrruster were scratchbuilt. turned styrene pipe to taper, then applied aluminium adhesive tape.
1/350 scale (32 inch) USS Enterprise by Polar Lights. The kit window inserts sat recessed in the hull. I glued clear window panes cut from thin styrene sheet into the recesses to make the windows flush to the hull surface.
Made a new footplate from styrene for the 4mm kit of SLR #85 as the whitemetal part supplied was proving difficult to modify to fit on the chosen chassis. Decided it might not be robust enough for the weight of the kit on top of it, so the larger copy is a 4x size version to use as a pattern for cutting a brass footplate on a pantograph milling machine.
Using styrene sheet and this carbon steel rod coated with white vinyl cladding I made my own bow probe/antenna arm.

A block made of laminated styrene has been added to each end. It acts to keep the frame in position as well as giving me something to attach the coupler boxes to later on.
The outer main window is installed on the lefhand side of the ascent stage facing forward. I used G-S Hypo Cement (AKA watch crystal cement). This glue is great for clear parts as it will not fog or mar clear styrene.
I noticed the styrene cement I had used was not enough to keep the clear grill from breaking loose from the lower nacelle half if pressed too hard. Not good.
So I masked off the inner face of the clear nacelle grill before I applied a line of 5 minute epoxy over the red formation light wire and along the bottom edge of the grill.
Then I pulled off the tape,
I had already done this to the other nacelle grill last night so I knew that once the epoxy hardened the clear part would stay put for good.

This is the down sized version of the Randy Bowen 1/4 scale Chaney Jr. Wolf Man Sculpt that he sculpted way back in 1992. The original sculpt was a 1/4 scale figure and didn't come with a base. Then in 1997 Polar Light's decided to re-cast Bowen's 1/4 scale Wolf Man in Porcelain but with a base that included a tree. After that was released there was such a demand that Polar Lights decided to scale the sculpt down to 1/8th scale and make it out of Styrene and at a much much lower price. This is the scaled down styrene version.
