This is such a gorgeous building. Composite of two or three photos scanned from film I shot in 2000 on Study Abroad.

Germany and Poland: A Holocaust Journey

This photo was taken at the entrance of the Auschwitz I concentration camp in Oświęcim, Poland. It is the same view that greeted prisoners as they were forced to march into the camps, many to their inevitable deaths. Translated from German, “Work Sets You Free.”

For the nine students who made the 21-day trip in January 2017, the scarcity and simplicity of life in Cuba – from the 1950s cars to the empty supermarket shelves to the limited Internet service - challenged every convention of their lives back home.

The study abroad trip combined two classes: Journeys through Latin America: Contemporary Cuba, taught by Murillo, and Health, Culture and Elder Care in Cuba, taught by Kirby Veevers, an adjunct professor of Health Professions who specializes in palliative care, aging and long-term care.

"A statue of Jesus at Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, taken from the stairs in one of the many cathedral towers. During an otherwise overcast and gloomy day, the sun illuminated parts of the city and I was able to capture it across the front of one of the statues adorning each tower."

Florence, Italy

Honorable mention

Taken by James Gravante

"Taken in the Duomo in Florence, this picture captured a child who had wandered off from his parents to look at the prayer candles in the main nave of the cathedral. I captured this moment as the boy was about to blow the candles out, as if they were on his birthday cake."

I just couldn't decide which one of these I like best.

Photographer: Bekah Wade ’17; Location: London, England; Program: The London School of Economics and Political Science. "This photo was taken in April when my family visited me. It was just before the commencement of the Summer Term and I was enjoying my final days of not having to study all the time. When I took this photo, it was my second time on the London Eye, the first time being when I first arrived in the city. Then, everything was new and a wonder. However, when this photo was taken, London had become quite familiar to me. Now, my family was looking at the city’s skyline in amazement as I looked at my surroundings feeling happy and blessed to have called the great city of London my home for the academic year."
