the many shades of life,

wish we could face them together forever...

The remarkable and large 'Osnabrück' altarpiece, which was possibly made in Westphalia, North Western Germany around 1370 to 1380, depicts some interesting armour.

The soldier at the Crucifixion wears:

- a buttoned jupon with the plaque belt worn on its bottom edge

- a sleeved hauberk with a skirt with triangular extensions in front, (back) and on the sides

- a mixture of studded and splinted armour on the limbs (probably in a typical style of the region) rendered in 3D

Note that the rerebrace is very similar to that of count Gottfried of Arnsberg (+1371), in Cologne Cathedral: www.flickr.com/photos/roelipilami/51646107135/in/album-72...

The soldiers at the Holy Sepulchre wear studded vambraces, splinted greaves, kettle hats, bascinets with a camail, poleyns, mail chausses etc.

In some German regions, as well as in some parts of the Low Countries, complete plate armour for the limbs wouldn't become widespread until the very late 14th century, relying very much on cuir-bouilli, mail and other defences instead.

THANKS FOR VIEWING!

This box contains 90 capacitors connected in various ways that can be discharged at one time. Many of them are as large as a soft drink can. The discharge is enough to weld a threaded stud to a piece of metal. I read the specifications of a commercially available machine to see what outputs should be. A machine like this would be around $5000 to buy. I was lucky to be here in town when someone bought Heath Kit's electronic supplies when the company went out of business which is where I got the capacitors and lots of other parts for a low price. I believe I spent well less than $100 for this project.

I asked my friends at the welding supply shop if I should build this or a spot welder and they advised that this project would be more interesting. They swayed me to make this.

Made for Moogiequilter STUD Anything Goes Sept/Oct 2011

Matt cruising outside Mary Hill Camp Ground.

I made a short visit to Prees Heath as I do most years just to see the silver-studded blues. There were large numbers out and I was early so saw no one else looking at butterflies.

I think this is a female but the colouring on the upperside is unlike any other I have seen.

Brass studs on an antique trunk.

Camera: Sony Cybershot

f/4.0, 1/15 secs, ISO 400

Actions used: Pioneer Woman's "Boost" and "Soft & Faded", both very lightly. Additional light sharpening.

Working on developing my fighter builds in stud.io. The cockpit box is largely based on a Peter Morris design, which I used as a springboard for the rest of the build.
