Week 52
The last week. The boys got back together for this final week of 2017. I haven't seen Sam in god knows how long especially with the original squad. Seeing and spending time with all of them was fantastic and a great way to end off the year. The only issue with this week has been for horribly cold it has been. The temperature has been averaging around 7 degrees every day. That is scary cold. Luckily, I have survived through it so far and had a wonderful week with my amazing friends. A great week to close off 2017. I have officially finished off a whole year of weekly uploads. I have to say it was very easy especially compared to last years daily uploads. I miss that challenge. Having a goal set for every day the moment I wake up. Yeah it was challenging at times but it having that challenge is healthy. It keeps me from being lazy and gets me constantly working to create. That is why I am going to bring it back for 2018. For the people that actively read this blog, get ready. Daily is coming back.

Hilton Harriers (orange & black) get a pass away at Kingsway Park in the nick of time during a 3-1 defeat by Central Midlands League Premier Division South rivals and hosts Ashland Rovers.
It was a first win of the season for Ashland, who deservedly ended a run of three straight defeats. Rovers (14th) are probably a better team than their league position suggests. Ashland's opening games have been against three of the division's more capable sides: Rowsley (3-4), Mickleover reserves (0-4) and Pinxton (3-4).
Rovers took an early grip on a contest rendered scrappy by a stiff, cold breeze and a simply dreadful pitch. On his home debut, Danny Bircumshaw (4mins) nodded the hosts in front after a lob had come back off a post. Connor Barnes (18mins) doubled the advantage when his pace took him away from the last defender, allowing him to round the keeper and score off the inside of a post.
Derby-based Harriers, fifth at kick-off, got on the scoresheet on the half-hour. Karl Chadfield freed Max Bulmer, who beat keeper Piotr Strycharz in a one-on-one. Two minutes later, the visitors squandered a great chance to equalise, shooting wide from the penalty spot after an unnecessary tackle.
Most of the excitement delivered by a largely nondescript second half was packed into the last five minutes or so. Strycharz pulled off two superb saves - both flying one-handers - as Harriers committed men forward. Two minutes into stoppage time, Ben Jones clinched Ashland's victory by sending the keeper the wrong way from the spot. Not sure I would have awarded the penalty! The Rovers player, a speedy midfielder, seemed to fall over.

Ashland Rovers FC were formed, circa 2000, as Sutton Trinity, an under-16 team playing in the Mansfield Chad Sunday League. When the players involved reached 16, the club adopted the name Acrumac FC and moved to the Elizabethan League, a Saturday open-age competition. After a few years, the club became Ashland Rovers and switched to the Midland Amateur Alliance. Successive promotions led them to the Notts Amateur Alliance. In 2013, Rovers joined the Notts Senior League and also secured FA Charter Standard status. Five years later, Ashland, having reached agreement with Ashfield District Council for upgrading to their Kingsway Park ground, clinched promotion to step seven of the non-league pyramid. They were allocated to the Central Midlands League's South division, where they have since remained.

I made a short visit to Prees Heath as I do most years just to see the silver-studded blues. There were large numbers out and I was early so saw no one else looking at butterflies.
I found 2 mating pairs which was a bonus.
My Flickr account has broken twice!
