Right now, I'm trying to get stuff organized in categories so that I can decide where everything is going to go.
A while back I did my first photo assignment. The brief was to take some shots for an album of Catherine & Lisa for their album. The band is called "Vesper Walk", and CD will be along sooner or later (at which point I'll put up a picture of it!). I got permission to post these pictures; let us know what you think!
There are more from the set, which I'll put up when I get chance.
The shots were taken in my home studio, using a couple of Bowens Esprit 250w flash heads & a D70. They have also been edited in Photoshop.
This particular shot is the first up here that is actually shot on film. I bought a Hassleblad 500CM of ebay, and this is a scanned shot from it using an Epson V700 Perfection scanner, and some photoshop toning. Love the resolution, hate the long process from shutter to print!

Paul is a friend of ours and a working artist based in Plymouth, who mainly paints the local area and the sea. Every year he hosts an open studio event in aid of the local hospice, St Luke's. This will be the last one at his current studio as he is moving to new premises soon. Paul agreed to be on Flickr and asked if I could link to his website: www.paulacramanartist.co.uk and Facebook page: www.facebook.com/paulacramanartist/?fref=ts
Steenokkerzeel (studio), BELGIUM
I don't do a lot of typical studio photography and usually white seamless backgrounds are considered as the enemy. So I hesitated to take on this job for fashion designer Griet Verhoeven (www.enolah.be). Having the opportunity to work with my favorite model Erika, made me do it. And I'm glad I did it. It was a valuable lesson about being open to other kinds of photography. Much to my own surprise I enjoyed this shoot a lot. The soft light and white seamless makes you focus on posing much more, because that's the only tool left to tell your story. The extremely professional attitude and fun collaboration with the model, the designer, her assistant/stylist and the photographer was also very enjoyable.

An Afghan woman in first grade solves a math problem during class in Bamyan, Afghanistan. The classes were made available to Afghan women, many of whom have never attended a class in their lives, by Arzu Studio Hope. Arzu is a nonprofit organization, based out of Chicago, which aims to empower Afghan women through employment and education. Arzu founder, Connie Duckworth, visited the classes and expressed her pride in the Afghan women for their strong desire to improve their quality of life. Duckworth also visited Helmand province in search of possible locations to expand her organization.

The architecture of this restaurant is incredible. I hate to see this area being demolished for the Harry Potter fiasco.
My second cousin, Lester Halsey, who is older than my mother and thus older than old dirt, came in to the restaurant (well, it's kind of a rustic inn type affair, with creaking wood floors, all-you-can-eat, country ham, sausage, bacon (they used to give you pork sidemeat but they cut that out) grits, stewed apples, eggs scrambled from cracked eggs (most hotel eggs are pasteurized and homogenized), pancakes, biscuits, sausage gravy and redeye gravy---anyway, it's not the food we're supposed to be talking about but this photograph. Lester had him a paper grocery sack with a bunch of photographs in it that he had gotten from his first cousin after her husband had died. They were family photos, but not of her immediate family. She might have known who some of the people were, but not others. Anyway, Lester said anyone could have any of the photos that they wanted. Another one of my relatives took one of the photos of another brother (my grandfather had seven brothers and one sister).
This photograph was the second one I saw. French was my grandfather's younger (I think) brother. A lot of people who looked at this photo thought this was Worth, but when I showed it to my mother, she said "French" immediately. I guess that's a sailor's uniform, but I don't know the history. I think French's daughter lives in Raleigh, so I'm going to use this photo as an excuse to go see her. I'm not sure I've ever met her. Maybe she can give me some more history.
I love this shelf for my fabric. It's also where I keep some of my vintage kitchen collectibles. Got it at a thrift store for $25 - see the before picture.
