Canadian Goose.

Two sizes of Canadian Geese exist. A small 22 to 26 inch and a large 35-45 inch version. They have a brownish body with a black head, long blackneck and which cheeck patch. The smaller version has a shorter neck and lacks the cheeck patch.

They inhabit lakes, bays, rivers and marshes. They often feed in open grasslands and stubble fields.

They range from Alaska east to Canada's Baffin Island and south to California in the west and Illinois and Massachusettes in the east. In winter they range from northern Mexico and the Gulf Coast. They are widespsread as a semi-domesticated bird and can be found in city parks and on reservoirs.

No attempt at creativity, in whatever field or level, was ever intended to remain unseen or unheard, thus my sincere thanks go to all who view and/or comment on my shots. Each is a help and a pleasure in equal measure. Thank you.

Not the greatest shots, but best I have been able to get. Have watched them a few times but either aways off or poor lighting. But they are a lifer so I am happy to be able to watch them. Then second shot the owl had caught breakfast and dropped it a few times so get diving to get it again

I have often driven past this landscape and wanted to take a picture. Today was the day!

This is from a shoot i did on friday with ben for Richmond classics,

let me know what you think as this is very different to what i normally do

Posed street portrait for my 100 Strangers project, taken in Glasgow, Scotland.

This picture is #25 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

This marks the 1/4 way through my 100 Strangers project. Michael was taking a coffee and smoke break from his work at a coffee stall on Buchanan Street in Glasgow. I caught a cheeky candid shot of him and he gestured that he would pose for more shots so, fresh on the success of bagging strangers 23 and 24 in the same day, I jumped at the chance to explain the project to him, Michael was happy to take part.

Michael, who is originally from Northern Ireland, was on a very short break from his work so I had to shoot in situ on the busy street and I made the most of the available background that I could. I also shot this using available natural light, with no fill-in flash that I would normally use. In this instance I liked the result as I tried a few further shots with the flash attached and decided not to run with them.

Taken on ISO100 with my 'usual' stranger portrait settings (see #24) and I cropped in close at f/1.8 to blur the busy street as much as possible. This is my first stranger portrait with my new f/1.8 50mm lens.

Thanks to Michael for allowing me to get some portrait shots despite his very short break from work and he has my contact card for copies of the shots if wanted.

From a stubble field near the Ythan estuary

I suppose this is like chopping off someone's head in a photo but not too bothered as it was a quick 7 shot panoramic that I made on my way back from rugby yesterday and it was raining heavily and also cold.....here comes autumn!

The light to the west was fabulous but as I had no protection, I could just couldn't turn the camera around due to the rain! The one that got away!!! Hey ho.

To shave or not to shave, that is the question... and yeah, got some traps!

Most of the fields around me have been left fallow after harvest time ,not sure why that is though.

With this shot I could see the low sun lighting up the field so decided to give this a low PoV shot.
