At around 4 pm the Riverside FD was toned out for the possible structure fire smoke showing from the building. PD got on scene secured a perimeter and evacuated some of the residents. Day crew in 1621 (engine out of riversides second house) along with 1614 and 1607 ( a LT who was in Sta 1) responded to the scene. Once on scene 1621 stretched one 1' 3/4. 1607 once on scene struck out a full still alarm. There was smoke showing from the rear of the building from both the second and first floor. But more importantly there was smoke coming from the basement. So they brought the line into the basement. When 1629 got on scene they were assigned ventilation. There was a problem on the roof though. Besides being steep the vent team had a very hard time getting through the roof, which was 4 shingles thick and a 1' 1/4 underneath that. And to add a cherry on top there was tons and tons of insulation which had to be pulled out. Also in one words of the FF operating the saw. "I was getting more smoke from the saw then the hole". While the attack was in the basement a second one was stretched just behind them, the attack team lost pressure in their line and the team behind them took the lead. It was all and all a quick knock...most of the fire damage was contained to the basement. The vent team was very lucky though when they made one of their holes, it was above the stairwell leading from the first to second floor which got a lot of smoke out. According to the FF in the basement which they could not see their hands in front of their faces, as soon as they vented the roof they gained Visibility. Pictured is 1629, 1621, and RPD 51
Another capture I took yesterday in this short time frame, when the light was shining so wonderfully through the window of my livingroom.
For the idea I once again have to credit this colleague of mine. :-)

Tiny Housing BouwEXPO Almere NL
245 entries were submitted for the competition ‘Living Free. Your Tiny House Almere’ The 25 finalists were announced on 6 July 2016.
A Tiny House is an affordable and compact home that generally has a living area of less than 50m2. Almere wants to promote this new form of innovative, affordable and sustainable building through the Tiny Housing BouwEXPO.
Almere wants to explore the demand and possibilities for this type of housing - small households living in compact and affordable houses - at a BouwEXPO . The city government has been organizing a competition of ideas, and has invited everyone to come up with proposals.
The 25 winning proposals can be built at three different competition sites along the Homeruspark in Almere Poort. They will form the centrepiece of BouwEXPO 2016-2017, where everyone can come to see these Tiny Houses for themselves. Some houses will have already been completed during the EXPO, while others might still be under construction.
The BouwEXPO exhibition area will enable visitors to see and experience the construction process for themselves.

Another homework for university. The idea was to create 3 different black and white structures each 20x20. The composition should range from calm to energetic.
Too bad the scrren with its 72ppi can't fully reproduce the thin lines. Maybe someone gets a kick by looking at the moiré ::]

The structure in the foreground is the Hawksbill, with Hansons Bay beyond. You can't see it here, but there's a house on that little island in the middle of Hansons Bay. That's gotta be nice.
Installation of saturated buffer in Story County, Iowa, on land farmed by Justin Hanson. A water control structure is a key component; it either diverts water from field tile to the perforated tile that runs parallel to the stream--which saturates the buffer-- or allows water to bypass the buffer, depending on how many panels are inserted into the structure to divert flow.
