this is a view of the original bottom plate/ mud plate. it is a 8x8 beam set on top of the brick foundation. unfortunately they had slid out of place, hence the gap between the timber and the floor joist. we drilled through the beam, and installed 10inch lag bolts through the beam into the joist. this allowed us to pull the mud plate back to its original position and preven t any future movement.
an investigation of the tensile forces created from two opposing bodies, the form is generated from the natural curvature of the body acting as a brace, that encorporates comfort and strength. the weave provides structural integrity and resilience towards the tensile forces.
